Chapter 347: The Weigong Family

~11 min read 2,179 words

"It's just drilling into a giant spider to pull out its heart—what's so disgusting about that?" Su Lin glanced at Lu Mingfei:

"Not nearly as disgusting as the tentacles of the Fallen Mother Goddess."

"I haven't eaten modern food in a long time," Meng Qi remarked.

"After this, I'm going to find a restaurant, drink some beer, and eat some grilled meat."

Lu Mingfei patted the horse's head twice and said:

"How about Turkish kebab? I know a place—I've never tried it, want to give it a shot?"

"Are you about to say that place is in New York? This is Type-Moon, not Marvel," Kleine stepped out from the empty air beside them and asked.

"I wish you'd pay attention to your surroundings when you talk—given your current status, being too down-to-earth is a dimensional strike against everyone else."

He turned his cane toward the Chaldea side, where they had already fallen into stunned silence.

"The Dao follows nature; act spontaneously—why care so much?" Meng Qi chuckled and walked forward; as he passed, he remembered something and stopped to nod at Chaldea:

"Lü Wang has been under your care."

"No! We are the ones who've received great help from Grandmaster Tai!" Tenzan Lixiang immediately stood at attention, bowing respectfully.

"Thank you for sending Grandmaster Tai to aid us!"

"And thank you, Odin my lord, for your care!"

Meng Qi looked around, a faint smile on his lips:

"To perform a savior's great deed with a mortal body—this path is filled with hardship, but in the end, it will all mean something."

"Remember: there is always a glimmer of hope in all things."

With that, he didn't give Chaldea a chance to reply; he merely flicked his sleeve and departed.

Lu Mingfei also nodded, then left without a word.

"You're so casual," Su Lin muttered. "A major enemy."

Tenzan Lixiang and Maru and the others bowed according to the Eastern spirit etiquette they'd learned, then raised their heads to find Su Lin watching them.

Instantly, all of them made the sign of the cross over their chests.

"No need for that—you should know I am not the God of this world," Su Lin smiled at them. "There is no judgment here anymore."

Manifesting divinity before mortals is for work and entertainment; ordinary life is about simplicity.

While Chaldea had been communicating earlier, he had been eavesdropping from within the surrounding history—he had heard clearly that they knew he was not God.

But Su Lin wondered why Joan of Arc had called him the Creator from another universe—was it because the Nascent Soul he'd used for his debut possessed the traits of a "God"?

"I am deeply humbled," Lord El-Melloi II unconsciously ignored their conversation, and with solemnity, asked the "Creator":

"Regarding the world's judgment…"

"The Inhibitor has already appeared," Su Lin said.

"After we had a friendly exchange, all problems were resolved—you may now return to Chaldea."

When he had spoken with the crude planetary Inhibitor, no unrelated individuals had noticed.

"Is it…" Tenzan Lixiang's thoughts paused for an instant, but sensing the "Creator" was approachable, she gathered courage and asked:

"May I ask—what will become of this worldline?"

"The Inhibitor has nominally given it to Weigong Shilang; we have no interest in this planet, so the future will unfold naturally," Su Lin said, as the shattered great void and surrounding forest were steadily being repaired—apparently, the Inhibitor was treating this place as a Singularity to be restored.

All damage caused by the Singularity, except for lost lives, would vanish entirely.

Even so, beyond incidental societal impacts, the planet itself suffered no real harm.

The future of this worldline had become utterly unpredictable; though the Inhibitor had abandoned all possibilities along this main branch, it would not collapse like an Anomalies Zone.

"By the way, regarding the things Weigong Shilang said earlier—about reincarnation and such—just treat them as jokes."

Even if others wouldn't believe it, Su Lin still had to throw the blame out first.

The three secrets to longevity in modern times: be happy, be rich, don't get blamed.

Inside the great void, darkness returned; the luminous aura of magical energy aether drifted around—perhaps because years of accumulated energy had been released, the surroundings now appeared dim.

Seeing them lost in thought, Su Lin slowly scanned their faces, calmed his emotions, and summoned a holy radiance around him as he spoke like a prophet:

"Even in light, shadows exist; evil has always been beside you."

"You will surely see that ambiguous…"

"Light of Human History."

With that, Su Lin departed just as Meng Qi had.

As he passed by, he glanced at Red A, who was engulfed in various negative states, and a faint smile curled his lips—he forcibly suppressed the urge to secretly implant some cultivation sword arts into the man.

Chaldea's members stood frozen; the prophecy could wait until they returned to think about it, but now they couldn't tell what was real—"reincarnation" was a joke? That contradicted every piece of intelligence and claim they'd gathered so far.

Lord El-Melloi II stared at the group chatting and laughing nearby, suddenly struck by a jarring contrast.

It doesn't make sense.

Whether it's "reincarnation" or "a joke," neither explains the current situation.

Those beings who descended alongside Yuan Shi Tianzun, the Creator from another universe, and "Odin"—their identities must be significant; if they were merely long-lost reincarnations, there's no sign of that at all.

If it's just a "joke," then what connection do these beings have with Weigong Shilang to offer such overwhelming support? Their familiarity clearly indicates they've known each other for ages—how could a mere Gao Zhongsheng possibly have contact with such mythic figures?!

Everything is out of sync.

The dissonance and unease radiating from these beings is too intense.

The root of all this still lies with Weigong Shilang and Illyasviel.

"Let's return to Chaldea," Tenzan Lixiang said.

"It seems… there won't be any problems."

Though the situation was chaotic, Chaldea could now safely return.

"I'll go say hello to Senior Weigong," Tenzan Lixiang sighed in relief, but then remembered their world's Human History had yet to be saved, and her spirits sank again.

Envious? Not to be envious would be a lie.

Though she had long grown accustomed to advancing forward relying on herself and her companions, standing at her position, witnessing such unstoppable power restoring the world to normalcy, she could not help but feel a surge of thoughts.

"Senior." Mashu gripped Tenzan Lixiang's wrist and smiled. "Let's go."

Tenzan Lixiang cast aside those distractions, immediately adjusted his mindset, and laughed. "Alright."

Beneath the Great Holy Grail.

"Emiya-kun," Tohsaka Rin said nervously. "They've all come—no, they've come specifically for you. Just what is your identity?"

Only Heracles wore a subtle smile; all other Servants wore expressions of shock.

"I am Weigong Shilang," Weigong Shilang smiled at Tohsaka Rin and the others, somewhat helplessly:

"Anyway, I'll explain later—it's not at all what you imagine."

"It's exactly as you all think, Mr. Weigong—vanished for several aeons," Kleine removed his hat and bowed to those around him:

"Just a joke—please don't take it seriously."

"Hello everyone, my name is Kleine Mo Leidi, the deity of the Yuzhe Sect. Though not a famous sect, it is no cult either—I uphold proper values. If you're interested in joining our sect, inquire with the sect's Personnel Department's angel, Merlin Hermes."

"Join now, and you'll get first access to transcendent powers."

He cracked a joke to lighten the mood. Though his words eased the tension slightly, most eyes still fixed on Su Lin, Meng Qi, and Lu Mingfei.

There was no help for it—these three show-offs had identities and aliases too monumental to ignore.

What Weigong Shilang did today was like, one moment, engaging in a gunfight in an alley, the next, switching to nuclear mode, and then, just as someone unlocked the fifth-level gene lock and began swinging his blade, three backpack-carrying background characters descended from the sky.

Weigong Shilang solemnly thanked his online friends: "Thank you all so much this time!"

"Try some new ingredients later?" Su Lin said to Weigong Shilang:

"Ort's body is still intact—cut off a leg and see if we can turn it into a delicacy."

"Really?" Weigong Shilang blinked, then doubted:

"Would that even taste good?"

"No, about this matter—"

"Who cares about that?" Ye Fan walked past and said. "When you're done, remember to come back to work. The guild just opened a new restaurant."

Zhang Chu'an saw Meng Qi and rubbed his hands. "Don't look at me—I'm just here for the scenery. If you really feel guilty, give me a weapon gift pack."

"I serve Tianzun—how could I possibly ask for weapons! Tianzun, look at my awareness!"

Meng Qi cleared his throat. "Chu'an, tone it down. We're not master and servant here."

He, Little Meng, did enjoy showing off, and Tianzun's title did sound impressive—but Zhang Chu'an's absurdity right now only made him awkward.

Su Lin transmitted a voice message:

"Just being able to deploy my Fourth Catastrophe Simulator is already worth it. In a way, I should thank Mr. Jin for blowing things up—but you? Now you've done this—what about your college entrance exam?"

College entrance exam.

I'm truly grateful you still care about my studies.

Weigong Shilang could understand Su Lin's meaning—after all, in this timeline, returning to a quiet life might prove difficult.

"Ultimately, why did you use my name?" Weigong Shilang seized the blind spot and spoke up. "We didn't need to state my name at all!?"

"Isn't the title 'Sword Emperor' cool?" Xiao Yan suddenly remembered this was modern times, not the Qi Continent, and the title meant nothing. "Haha—none of my business."

"The Suppression Force may erase your information," Zhong Li said.

"Blurring the public's impression of the name 'Weigong' shouldn't be difficult—just like cleaning up a Singularity."

"Let's move somewhere else to talk. This isn't a place for conversation. Your friends must be curious about this too."

Weigong Shilang nodded. "Then let's head back—"

Meng Qi swept his sleeve; an ancient, primordial aura rippled outward, and an old-fashioned gate opened, revealing the interior of the Weigong residence.

Su Lin: "..."

Meng Qi smiled. "The Yùqīng Palace isn't suitable for hosting guests yet. I'll borrow your home."

He pulled it off again.

I should've brought all the floating islands of Shuijing Peak up into the sky and summoned the Great Array and the phantom of the Great Dao River.

In the backyard of the Weigong residence.

Ten custom-made barbecue grills glowed with charcoal fire; rows of skewers lined the racks; the courtyard had been swept spotless.

"Here."

Caster, Bazett, and the others had already been sent back—they knew secrets only members of the Weigong family could know. Anyway, their goal had been achieved; the rest was simply returning home.

"I'm a bit confused," Tohsaka Rin raised an eyebrow.

"So you went to another universe, stayed there for a long time, and only now returned to this timeline?"

"And our world is a game or anime in other worlds?"

"An 18+ one?!"

"Not that long," Weigong Shilang replied, flipping skewers as he explained.

When it came time to explain, he found himself at a loss—what he experienced in other universes... well, it was hard to describe precisely.

"Are all these gods from other worlds?!" Tohsaka Rin's voice rose slightly.

She looked at Su Lin and the others lounging at the long table—some eating skewers, some studying artifacts, some staring blankly at the stars. Weigong Shilang had said these were his friends from other worlds.

The "Odin" in the center had split open; from its towering shell stepped a slender, disheveled Eastern youth.

"Then is Yuan Shi Tianzun one too?!"

"I am Yuan Shi Tianzun of your world."

"Huh?"

Tohsaka Rin pressed her forehead, her logic growing more tangled—not just because it was absurd, but because Weigong Shilang himself was speaking incoherently.

"In other words, senpai," Sakura Matou said with a hint of disappointment, "it's not some reincarnated memory—you chose Dada Liya knowing what the future held?"

"Now that you mention it," Rin Tohsaka felt her thoughts clarify.

At these words, the group of friends eating skewers and chatting turned their gazes toward this side.

The food was delicious, but the gossip tasted even better.

The morning wind blew through the streets of Fuyuki, and Bazett Fraga McRemitz closed the door, carrying a suitcase.

"In the end, this Holy Grail War has nothing to do with me."

"I barely survived."

She was about to leave with her suitcase when a familiar voice came from behind.

"Master, where are you going? The Holy Grail War isn't over yet."

It was slightly flippant, but more so, it carried maturity and steadiness.

She turned around in disbelief, and there stood Cú Chulainn, the only Servant who had not survived.

A burning sensation came from her back of the hand; Bazett looked down in surprise and saw three Command Seals glowing through her glove.

"You"

She looked at him and noticed a glowing Rune symbol in his left eye.
