Chapter 436: Heading to Baiyu Jing
Good news: the ultimate evil antagonist is preparing to flee.
Bad news: if nothing goes wrong, once Qingwanglai's plan succeeds, this universe can prepare for a reboot.
Lu Mingfei: "In short… the original Su Lin was a paper tiger, a Grand Destiny. But out of fear, the Grand Destiny voluntarily discarded two Dao Laws to confuse Su Lin's perception—and accidentally created a real Grand Destiny. He can't wake up because those Dao Laws don't yet belong to him…"
"This fear-Grand Destiny is too fearful—damn it, do you even realize what I'm saying…?"
"Because he was too afraid, he tried to bind Meng Qi inside Li Huowang's world as a cage, to lock Su Lin in…"
"These pieces of information were passed to you by the future Three Pure Ones Grand Destiny, who sent Li Sui back to the past Liang Dynasty, using the method of filling historical gaps in the Bureau of Celestial Observations. Since the future keeps changing, this is not a fixed timeline."
Li Huowang: "Hmm…"
Ye Fan: "Does that make sense to you?"
Xiao Yan: "Is there still any law left?"
Xing: "There's not even a shred of interstellar law anymore."
Song Shuhang: "I'm reporting Senior Su Lin—this time he went too far qaq."
It's no wonder everyone reacted this way—even Li Huowang thought it was absurd.
Although Su Lin's true form truly… truly… gives people a terrifying feeling, it also brings warmth and sanctity, doesn't it?
Well, it does sound contradictory and sinister.
Shi Hao: "If it's really as terrifying as you say, wouldn't even a Ruyi Zhenxian have problems seeing it?! Can this technique be cultivated into a treasure art and passed down?"
Zhongli: "By general reason, such a treasure art would likely harm the harmony of Heaven."
Miss Kelaien: "According to his own account, his Nascent Soul fused the Lord of Fortune and the Primordial Heaven Sovereign, making him roughly two-thirds of the Original Creator. His soul possesses the complete ontological status of the Original God. Previously, he also copied and stored the Light Aspect of another multiverse's Creator God, plus a mess of other powers—so for Fusheng Tian to not be afraid would be the abnormal thing."
"And you've all overlooked a critical issue…"
Miss Kelaien stopped sending messages here, and the group fell temporarily silent.
One minute passed.
Lu Mingfei: "What are you dragging out for?"
Song Shuhang: "Great detective Mr. Xia Luoke, what's the critical issue?"
Miss Kelaien, having failed to cultivate his groupmates' independent thinking, sighed helplessly above the gray mist—definitely not because he was deliberately staying silent to wait for someone to pick up the thread.
Miss Kelaien: "According to his own account, those creation laws and knowledge are all things his current body cannot comprehend—he can only store them for now."
"Have you ever considered where Su Lin put all these gains—so vast that an entire universe couldn't hold them?"
Penglai Mountain Huiye: "Ah~ I know! It's inside his body."
Lu Mingfei: "How do you know?"
Penglai Mountain Huiye: "Because I spent one… two… too long a time with him in Eternity and Moment—I forgot."
"It seems some being from a race of primordial, eternal Creator Gods did something to him, saying his talent was too exceptional, so their leader sacrificed his own origin to grant Su Lin that god-race's physique."
"It's through this physique that he copied the primordial secrets of the Primordial Light into his body."
Lu Mingfei: "Holy shit?! You two were alone together?!"
Miss Kelaien: "A lone man and a lone woman?"
Ye Fan: "Hey, I told you this guy shouldn't have learned from Gu Tianwang to reach Supreme Detachment."
Xing: "What do we do? @Yi Leina"
Penglai Mountain Huiye: "Feeling nervous~? Don't worry—his time is mostly spent… well, in your terms, a Dao-comprehension state. Later, I got bored and left."
Yi Leina: "Heh, don't poke. Too bad you two lovebirds didn't end up together."
Yi Leina: "Wake him up quickly—before someone's jinx comes true!"
Miss Kelaien: "Cough… Anyway, it seems explainable now. Li Huowang, find a way to wake him up. Otherwise, by the time he fully absorbs the Dao Laws, Song Shuhang will have transcended countless years ago."
Song Shuhang: "Huh?"
………
Rain pattered down; leaves floated and sank, turning from pale green to emerald green as they soaked in water, while a fierce wind howled, shaking the entire forest.
The vehicle emerged from the tunnel; the windshield wipers swept away the curtain of rain.
Li Huowang, squeezed in the backseat, shouted to Su Tianfu, who was hunched against the window: "They asked me to pass on a message—snacks and fun are ready; just wait for you to come back and start the barbecue party."
"God damn fun and barbecue party! Why don't you just wake up A Meng faster?!" Su Tianfu slapped Zhao Lei's face twice: "Hey, wake up! Time to steal something!"
Those unknown individuals surrounded the church, running to its entrance with planning blueprints, while a construction worker in a white hard hat tried to chat with Su Tianfu about future development plans.
Then, Officer Tan from Chengxi said Su Tianfu had been reported and needed to go in for questioning.
If not for the enemy activating "The Book of Ages" to create so many coincidences, it could only mean Li Huowang's claims are becoming more true.
With no other choice, the group fled through a tunnel beneath the church from the Republican era, found Su Tianfu's car at a parking lot two streets away, and had Wu Qi, the skilled driver, take the wheel.
The scenery blurred backward; after leaving the city, modern buildings grew scarce, replaced only by a few birds circling nearby forests and occasional rural self-built houses.
At this moment, a car speeding like a real-life Fast & Furious stood out as utterly out of place.
Biu—
A crisp sound.
Probably because heavy trucks had long used this cement road, the shattered stones were kicked up by tires and struck the car's body—or perhaps those terrorists fired from afar.
Su Tianfu winced. "This SUV was bought on loan this year."
Watch Fast & Furious in the movies—but live it, and you'll go broke.
And our people keep having breakdowns—even Li Huowang had just woken from a coma, babbling nonstop.
"Assuming this information is reliable, we can rule out that Qingwanglai enacted this plan out of excessive fear of the Primordial God," Zhao Shuang analyzed:
"According to the information you provided, he still bears residual influence from the enemy—but viewed differently, his plan has a certain logic."
"Only another elephant can resist an elephant. If implemented normally, it truly could grant protection."
"Unfortunately, he misunderstood the underlying logic. What we need now is simply to make these two elephants leave the world from within."
Li Huowang raised his hand dizzily and asked, "Can you stop using metaphors? I want something more concrete, like the images the Three Pure Ones' Grand Siming showed me from the future."
"How much do you know about Hilbert space? I could try explaining it to you," Zhao Shuangdian replied.
Infinite-dimensional Hilbert space? If this keeps up, it'll drag in quantum mechanics.
Not just Li Huowang—even Su Tianfu started getting a headache, since he was a psychiatrist, not a mathematician.
Su Tianfu felt that when Zhao Shuangdian said this, his gaze was actually fixed on him, and he recalled Li Huowang's earlier nonsense: "Could I also be the one who has to get kicked out?"
Su Tianfu frowned, "Am I the villain too?"
"Your scale is too large. My earlier idea of seeing you as just one side of an elephant was wrong," Zhao Shuangdian said, then hesitated slightly: "Even among elephants, you're an incomprehensible existence."
"If you're awake, that's fine—but if this continues, the entire world's data will be overwritten by the information you unconsciously leak, even if you don't want it to."
"How is that possible?" Li Huowang suddenly sat up straight.
People can reset by respawning, but if this world is affected by Su Lin, what the hell will happen?!
"The enemy's Dao is fear," Zhao Shuangdian said to Su Tianfu.
"You're like a converter: absorbing the old Dao, you produce another Dao that enables all life to attain Buddhahood. This new Dao will replace the lingering fear still in this world."
"As your influence grows, even a single thought of yours can alter heaven and earth."
Li Huowang immediately thought of the Faithful of the Fa Sect in Da Liang, and the information previously gathered by the Surveillance Office: every place visited by Buddhist disciples saw a massive surge in converts.
"What's going on between you and Wu Qi? Can you interfere with multiple worlds simultaneously, like Qing Wanglai?"
"Everyone sees a different world. My clarity means I understand what this body is, and I can use mathematical calculations to obtain parameters from Bai Yu Jing."
Zhao Shuangdian reached out and touched Li Huowang's forehead. "I have two plans to awaken Dr. Su. I just need to know if you're willing to believe me."
"There's no turning back!" Su Tianfu spoke first. "Just tell me, Xiao Zhao—I trust you."
Zhao Shuangdian nodded. "Send Li Huowang to Bai Yu Jing to awaken you, and you must abandon your current name and remember your old one."
"The Siming cannot do this—it's not something we can bear."
"Me?!" Li Huowang pointed at himself, feeling like he'd met Qing Wanglai 2.0. "But I'm not even a Siming now—why are you asking me to do this?"
Even if Ji Zai did it, it's no different from assassinating Su Tianfu—it's just suicide.
"You're special," Zhao Shuangdian's hand gently brushed across Li Huowang's face, then lightly pressed his eyeball.
"Before I met Dr. Su, I investigated you. I'm certain your perspective differs from ours—you can 'touch' many parts of the elephant, while we can only 'touch' one."
"From your viewpoint, Parallel Worlds can influence each other."
"But I just confirmed one thing: your perspective isn't viewing four dimensions from three—it's looking down from a higher dimension. That's why you can see the Three Pure Ones' Grand Siming's information, and that's why you're confused."
"Your world isn't linear—it's multiple, parallel, and intersecting!"
Li Huowang felt he really needed to learn some more knowledge; luckily, there was still a scientist in the group—maybe he could explain what this meant.
"Excuse me, everyone," Yi Donglai said weakly, holding a vomit bag. "What's going on? Don't ignore me—just drop me off the car. I still have to deliver seasonal clothes to my sister."
Su Tianfu pulled out a pocket watch and placed it before him, soothingly said:
"Actually, today's an impromptu spring outing. I saw you were carsick, so let me teach you a breathing trick—relax, yes, just like that. Look, Yang Na is sleeping soundly too. Sleep now—you'll wake up right at your sister's school."
Yi Donglai's eyes gradually grew hazy, and he slowly fell asleep.
"What? My 99 backup records include a rule: never hypnotize others," Su Tianfu tucked the pocket watch into his inner coat pocket. "I don't even know who you're insulting—I'm a staunch pure-love advocate."
"There's a roadblock and a convoy ahead!" Wu Qi lightly pressed the brake, slowing the car.
The road grew muddy. They'd chosen a country path, yet still encountered obstacles—clearly, it had been planned in advance.
"So this really isn't The Matrix," Su Tianfu muttered, watching through the headlights' glare: a rain-blurred scene where a group of black-clad figures stood fully armed near black sedans.
"I've never seen the Dao on their bodies—they must be external Siming," Wu Qi gripped the steering wheel tightly, voice tense. "This many… too many."
"They have a factory in the desert that produces human hands," Li Huowang said.
Ahead, the black-clad figures advanced with flashlights, surrounding them. Wu Qi moved to shift into reverse.
In a flash, a hand gripped her wrist.
"Good thing I prepped a spare monocle."
Zhao Lei squeezed forward, sitting directly on Wu Qi, stretching his stiff neck. "These two idiots—now they'll be quiet for a while."
He stomped the brake and lightly pressed the accelerator; the engine roared, tires screeching and spraying mud.
Zhao Lei slipped the monocle over his right eye, adjusted its position in the rearview mirror, and locked eyes with Li Huowang.
"Consider this repayment for the special Xin Pan you gave me," Zhao Lei smiled. "Here's a piece of news: Li Huowang, before this, you never existed in this world."
Li Huowang froze. "What did you say?!"
"Hehe, figure it out yourself~" Zhao Lei's expression subtly shifted after speaking.
The car's headlights reflected off the monocle. The black-clad figures ahead blurred, overlapping roads, tunnel segments, and mixed colors appeared before everyone's eyes.
Distance was stolen.
Not far—but just far enough to bring them into a dense forest, where trees were thick and drones couldn't possibly conduct surveillance.
Zhao Lei slumped sideways onto Wu Qi and fell asleep, as if exhausted.
"Hurry," Zhao Shuangdian pulled out a laptop. "Their operational logic is already changing—this proves Qing Wanglai has shifted from passive to active. We can no longer rely on Dr. Su's intimidation."
"Li Huowang, you must go to the world of Da Liang and reach Bai Yu Jing. We'll wait for you there."
"Dr. Su," Zhao Shuangdian glanced at Su Tianfu, seriously asking: "Did you like the gift I gave you?"
"..." Su Tianfu thought for a moment. "It's fine."
Though he had no interest, it was still a thoughtful gesture—he couldn't refuse it.
"Changsheng Tian," Qing Wanglai frowned at the dark, looming clouds in his bedroom at Shangqing Temple. "You've all gone mad."
Bang! Bang!
He heard someone knocking. He turned, instantly smiling. "Big Brother, you're here."
Meng Zhending nodded, smiling. "Little Qing, you've finally come home."
"That's right," Qing Wanglai laughed. "Cousin, you're back too. This Sanqing Temple can finally be handed over to you—that's what my parents want, and it's what I want too. You know I've always wanted to do research; I have no interest in these traditional cultural matters."
He smiled warmly and placed a transfer contract on the table.
Meng Zhending nodded, picked up his pen, and was about to sign his name.
Suddenly, he glanced at Qing Wanglai.
"What's wrong, cousin?"
"Cousin, yesterday my shady friend sent me an article titled 'University Youth Trapped in Telecom and Internet Fraud, After Being Swindled, Sets Up a Scam to Trap Relatives.'"
"Cousin, we're family!"
Qing Wanglai wore an innocent expression. Meng Zhending nodded and said:
"Yes, but guess what? I checked my assets today and found I suddenly own a whole bunch of companies—all with me as legal representative. Isn't that strange?"
Qing Wanglai looked puzzled. Could this really happen? He hadn't done anything like this.
"Xiao Qing, I'm not saying this has anything to do with you—I just have to be more careful, cousin. I can't afford to get hurt anymore."
Meng Zhending shook his head, looking pained. He looked at Qing Wanglai and asked:
"By the way, wasn't the temple supposed to be transferred to me as an inheritance—the Shangqing Temple? Why did you just say Sanqing Temple?"
Qing Wanglai: "."
The Dao Ghost story should end in two or three chapters—it's indeed a short piece, written at a normal pace. Still the same problem: endings are always hard to write; it's a common ailment of multiverse arc stories. Apologies for the slow updates.
