Chapter 470

Blue Star, Blue Star

"Captain, isn't that your own gun?!" Lu Beiyun tore through space, gasping as he collapsed onto the ground, his first words asking:

"Why did you send scrolls to the Soul-Shaking Team and guns to the Pilgrim Team?"

Bai Zhou stepped out from the spatial tunnel behind them, his expression blank, eyes equally puzzled.

"I didn't originally intend to explain this to you," Bai Mingsheng glanced at the two, set down the polished bullet he'd been working on, and said:

"But I won't plant seeds of distrust in the team. Aren't you both curious why I refused the Soul-Shaking Team's request?"

"First, those two guns aren't mine."

"Second, among the Pilgrim Team, there's a guy who's been dead for years—I need him to return to hell and use those two guns to finish what he never completed."

"Your old acquaintance?" Fatty widened his pea-sized eyes, thoughts racing in an instant: "Captain, is he from your old team?"

"He wasn't my former teammate, but we've collaborated with him several times," Bai Mingsheng pointed at himself, then at the world beyond the Shanhe Map:

"We're a team. He's a lone wolf."

Lone Wolf!

Lu Beiyun's face turned instantly pale, as if he'd heard something unimaginable: "Lone Wolf?"

In the Cycle Space, occasionally you encounter Reincarnators who are a team unto themselves, never taking on newcomers.

They operate outside the teams that cooperate to boost survival and overall ability, strong or weak, each with their own style.

If Reincarnation squads are like wolf packs, these individuals are solitary hunters.

Lone wolves aren't rare—but the key is—

The matching rules for lone wolves are no different from those for normal teams, meaning lone Reincarnators must undertake missions at the same level as regular teams.

No privileges—if anything, the only advantage is avoiding resource allocation issues and monopolizing team rewards, but the drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

Yet Bai Mingsheng's team was previously an SS-class team; the lone wolf who could collaborate with his team—

"How could a Reincarnator of that level appear here?!" Xue Rui covered her mouth in shock: "All teams in this team battle instance are here to advance to A-class!"

"Maybe it's an isomorph. Maybe someone resurrected him with a special method," Bai Mingsheng thought for a moment, recalling the guy had said he was about to 'die,' and said:

"Like those Reincarnators you've seen, recruited from known storyline instance worlds—there are so many Linghu Chong alone you'd need to count them by codes."

"Someone once speculated he might be a character from a specific instance world, but no one ever found evidence of any such instance being explored."

Bai Mingsheng shook his head and continued: "I feel it's the same person."

"Aren't you afraid he's really just an isomorph?" Fatty fretted: "What if he's not the same guy?"

Bai Mingsheng looked at him and said: "Doesn't matter. That's even."

Lu Beiyun now understood why his captain had abandoned this lucrative reward—if it truly was the same person, let alone whether the Soul-Shaking Team could suppress him—

The team that resurrected this Reincarnator—what exactly—

"Little Long'er, do you know?" Su Lin spoke in an exceptionally gentle tone, simultaneously condensing Buddha light with the Nine-Crown Staff and blasting a cannonfire that obliterated (and liberated) hundreds of demons ahead:

"We use our own identities instead of our original powers precisely to enhance identity alignment and explore the legacy. Of course, another purpose is to catch those Reincarnators."

"I've said so much—do you understand or not.."

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Ignition, launch, double jump, time stop, dual pistols switching bullets, Blood Rage form, Seven Sins weapons swap, Infernal Dragon finisher.

"Time, resume flow."

Lu Mingfei snapped his fingers, sheathed his long blade back into his sword case; black ebony and white ivory spun in his hands, and behind him, a mushroom cloud roared upward in response.

"Cool," Lu Mingfei said: "Holy Monk, change the song!"

"Understood?" Su Lin drew the Skyblue Jade Void Sword.

"Sir! Yes, sir!" Lu Mingfei snapped to attention, then immediately scowled:

"But that old goat triggered the hidden instance—you're not seriously going to make Little White Dragon charge into hell with just one sword?!"

He could handle charging across the world—over a hundred wouldn't be a problem—but sending him into the Western Hell with just a dragon-scale sword? That's pushing it too far.

Once the things in the Blood Sea Lava were triggered, the demons here gained terrain bonuses—their numbers multiplied geometrically, and below, even stronger ancient demons were awakening.

Supposedly, they were the former masters of this hell.

If Little White Dragon can handle this, he might as well become the Primordial Dragon outright.

"My point is, you can't control these two guns—let me hold onto them for you first."

Naturally, this claim met fierce protest from Lu Mingfei, who clutched the dual pistols to his chest like a mother protecting her cubs.

Su Lin scratched his head in frustration, then realized he was bald now: "I'm going to the Western Heaven to retrieve the sutras, not to the Western Hell—ok?"

"Damn it… Amitabha Buddha, my sins, my sins."

"It's indeed a bit troublesome," Meng Qi agreed: "Our inherited cultivation isn't complete, but holding out for a while isn't a problem."

Yet precisely because of Su Lin's earlier display of divine glory, Meng Qi was certain that portraying the Pilgrim was a prerequisite to obtaining the full legacy—but this portrayal… might not be merely superficial.

"Is that so… no choice then," Su Lin's eyes were filled with helplessness: "Let's run."

Shi Hao had fought for a long time, his aura dimmed, appearing on the verge of exhaustion.

Li Huowang dodged an attack in disarray, returned to the group, when Su Lin, pale-faced, fired another cannonblast and pulled out a Cross-Dimension Rune, opening a portal.

The moment he lifted his foot, peach-pink qi flooded the air; blades of light blazed so intensely they nearly devoured the space where the portal had appeared.

Been waiting for you!

Shi Hao's entire body erupted in flames; bathed in divine fire, he transformed into a beam of divine light and surged into the blade-light, while Meng Qi swung his staff, targeting the same blade-light.

The portal vanished, the blade-light shattered, and a dreamlike scene of a paradise beyond the world unfolded within this hell.

The land was flat and open, houses neat and orderly, with fertile fields, beautiful ponds, mulberry and bamboo trees; wisps of smoke rose gently, paths crisscrossed through the fields, and many common folk in coarse clothes tilled and labored in the fields.

Shi Hao, having entered, manifested a true phoenix silhouette, transforming into a phoenix that flew toward a delicate-faced man—clearly the Reincarnator known as Crow, as seen in the Memory of the Fate Devourer.

His face still bore shock, but he swiftly swung his pink dagger, forming a symbol in the void.

The flesh of farming peasants rotted away; crops and livestock turned to soil; peach blossoms decayed into pools of black water, and the once-idyllic Peach Blossom Spring merged into hell, now steeped in horror.

The phoenix's speed clearly slowed; visible curses formed chains that bound Shi Hao, who let out a low roar, his body ringing with metallic tension.

One wisp after another of black smoke rose—these were the curses he had refined.

The raven widened its eyes, seemingly stunned by the power Shi Hao had displayed.

Ever since the Fate Devourer's silver coin turned to sand, he had sensed something was wrong; he had anticipated the Fate Devourer's failure, but never imagined it would consume even its own true form.

Old Wei from Spirit Mountain was temporarily unreachable, and he couldn't trouble the team leader, so he hid within the miniature world of the Peach Blossom Spring.

Using his special dagger named Peach Blossom Spring, he entered the secluded Peach Blossom Spring and lay in wait, observing the outside world.

After Li Hantian used the Scroll of Hell's Descent, the scripture-seekers' team never activated that powerful strange artifact, and instead began planning to flee.

Combining all these factors, he decided to act.

This dagger came from a strange instance world; to clear it, his team had previously lost five Reincarnators, and the source of that world's thousand-year nightmare was precisely this dagger.

Nightmares cannot be destroyed—only sealed—and they can even grow stronger.

By controlling this dagger, he could manifest again the "Peach Blossom Spring and its nightmare"—a nightmare accumulated over a thousand years across an entire world.

Yet now, a Class-A Reincarnator had suffered no harm, and even seemed on the verge of breakthrough?!

"This time, you won't get away."

A young man's voice echoed from afar; the raven narrowed his eyes, drew out the Purple-Gold Gourd, and shouted toward the golden monkey with a monkey face and thunderous mouth:

"Sun Wukong!"

A divine light surged from the mouth of the Purple-Gold Gourd and struck Meng Qi; Meng Qi's pupils contracted—he had never imagined the opponent possessed such a treasure.

The Purple-Gold Gourd fell silent.

The raven opened his mouth, stunned, before he could activate any other technique—his consciousness sank into a void where even the passage of time went unnoticed.

Meng Qi sheathed the Kuangdao Bawang, tossed the raven's head toward Su Lin; he was not truly dead, only plunged into a state neither alive nor dead by Meng Qi's secret art.

Su Lin took the head, placed it inside the teleportation gate, and after a moment, pulled it out again with a strange expression, then threw it back.

"How's it going?" Shi Hao's phoenix spread its wings and shook them; the curses, wreathed in phoenix truefire, rained down from the sky.

Su Lin picked up the ominous pink dagger on the ground and sheathed it. "He still had a storage ring—grab the gear, we're done!"

"I can go block the gate," Lu Mingfei raised his hand, requesting to engage: "I know this hell inside out!"

Meng Qi drew out the Ruyi Jingu Bang again, activated the Great Heavenly Immortal Technique, and said: "A rare opportunity—perfect for improving my martial arts."

Su Lin pointed at the demon count whose aura kept rising, expanding his ice domain further: "No, cosplay can wait—first, deal with that guy."

"Lu Mingfei, how do we clear this?"

Lu Mingfei paused, recalling: "Kill all the demons below; the ancient demon sealed beneath will be satisfied—or the seal will be repaired."

"Forget it," Su Lin interrupted. "I know this hell well."

Lu Mingfei blinked. "This isn't Type-Moon."

He didn't finish his sentence—he suddenly noticed six black wings, devouring all light, emerging behind Su Lin.

Ashes fell softly, steadily, growing in number and size, across the icy snowscape and the blood-sea lava.

"What is this?" Count Chimoke frowned at the ash appearing in hell. "A Reincarnator's artifact?"

The trouble with these guys is right here—but it doesn't matter.

He froze tens of thousands of hell demons into Abyssal Ice, and, linked to the Abyss domain, planned to pay a price to turn this scorching hell into his preferred icy hell.

"Don't let the souls of those Reincarnators escape!" Count Chimoke ordered his demon knights: "And don't let them die in this hell."

He had already paid too much—so far, it was pure loss. At least he must take those Reincarnators' souls and convert them into demons under his control.

"What are you doing? Move now!"

The count realized only the ordinary demons had obeyed—his own demon knights stood motionless around him, and the group he had dispatched were busy clearing hell demons on their own.

"Obey my command!" He angrily activated his soul mark, intending to punish the demon knights clad in holy armor.

But the demon knights in holy armor merely trembled slightly, then remained still.

Drip… drip…

The surrounding demon knights turned to look at him; demonic blood dripped from their armor's visors, ankles, and joints onto the ice.

"You!"

They refused his command even at the cost of backlash.

Soon, the demon knights beside him began to move.

They drew their weapons and slaughtered their own allies—even the old friend who had wielded the crimson greatsword beside him for tens of thousands of years.

And these Abyss demons shared one trait: all wore the undead armor stained with holy light after the defeat of Count Gunar.

Count Chimoke froze a demon knight charging him with his staff, then used his sharp fingers to strike the helmet off through the ice.

Beneath the holy-stained undead armor—

Dozens of pure-white mouthparts grew from the armor's inner walls, biting and chewing the demons within.

"Lagus…"

"Count… uh… these armors…"

Plop.

The mouthparts severed Lagus's throat; blood flowed down and was absorbed by the writhing interior of the armor, where within, a radiant, sacred light seemed to be gestating.

Count Chimoke staggered back two steps—he had never imagined fear could arise within him; the subordinates consumed by armor and the sacred light burned in his eyes.

How strange.

Count Chimoke's goat-like eyes widened—he suddenly noticed many demon knights were now indiscriminately slaughtering hell demons and Abyss demons, dragging their corpses to the bald Reincarnator's feet.

"Did you do this?!" Count Chimoke roared.

Beyond the six ash wings behind Su Lin, ultimate gray spread outward; the mountain of demon corpses piled before him instantly turned to ash, swirling around.

Ash fell upon the blood sea's magma, the ice domain, and every corner of Hell, until it reached the boundary of the displaced space.

Every demon it touched became like infected by plague, their souls and flesh turning into the same ash.

"Count, why are you angry?" Su Lin pulled out a cross, clenching it in his palm, and smiled warmly at Count Chimoke.

"Demons are destined for heaven."

Even if they dwell in Hell.

Infinite light, infinite heat—the requiem of annihilation sounded once more within the hell of another world.
