"I've got a dinner date—can't you guys hurry up?"
Tony kept bouncing his leg, saying impatiently: "It's almost six—what exactly are you all doing?"
"The group of Asian tour friends you just met?" Natasha smiled as she poured coffee into her stainless steel cup.
"Pepper Potts, do you have any idea how many times I've stood someone up?" Tony sighed and shook his head.
"Oh, sorry," Natasha set the coffee pot down in front of Tony, took a sip, and said:
"But you know how serious that theft operation targeting the Tesseract and Loki's scepter was—let alone that zombie that just appeared out of nowhere."
"I don't know where he came from either, but according to the scan results, that fluid-transmitted virus far exceeds any virus on Earth," Tony said.
It wasn't that he didn't trust these Avengers friends—it was that S. H. I. E. L. D. and Hydra headquarters were now indistinguishable.
Plus, he knew their nature as well as he knew the hair on his own legs—these guys would inevitably strip you bare of every secret.
"Why didn't you invite Natasha along?" Nick Fury pushed open the frosted glass door and walked in: "Galen should like a mature beauty like her—she's prettier than Jennifer."
"Motherfucker," Tony rolled his eyes.
He knew this would happen—if they dug deep enough, they'd inevitably find that Galen had once stayed at Stark Tower.
But from the implication of this guy's words, they'd been watching him for days already—Jennifer.
The only Playgirl cover girl from last July's issue was named Jennifer.
"S. H. I. E. L. D.?"
"No, you'd better not care about that."
Tony said seriously: "They don't belong to any organization on Earth—I guarantee they'll be friends, not enemies."
Nick Fury's dark face showed no expression; he simply handed Tony a lab report and test results.
"The attacker has been dead for years, but certain parts of his organization remain active."
"I already warned you—destroy those things, stop researching them!"
Tony slammed his fist onto the table so hard the steel desk dented inward.
Nick Fury ignored him and continued:
"Do you know? We extracted residual DNA from his stomach, teeth, throat, and multiple other sites—database comparison shows traces of Banner's, Thor's, Steve's..."
"Tony, if you don't tell us everything, we'll be completely unprepared when facing an unknown enemy."
"What the hell is going on with all of this—including that attacker who looks exactly like Steve?!"
Nick Fury leaned both hands on the table, staring directly into Tony Stark's eyes as if trying to pry something out of them—his unyielding aura was aggressive, no horned sihou, only interrogation.
"Tony, we need your help," Natasha interjected at the right moment.
"Don't you trust us? We've just fought side by side, entrusted our backs and our lives to each other."
Steve, Thor, and Clint, lying on the stretcher, were all watching him.
Tony slowly sat down, covering his mouth, looking stunned in thought—except for a flicker of guilt toward Clint.
Well, all of this was exactly what their group chat friends had predicted.
Even when Tony suggested burning the corpse, they had proposed using it as an entry point to contact S. H. I. E. L. D., and had already deduced all possible developments in advance.
After all, whether it was Tony Stark's combat ability and physical fitness—far beyond normal human levels—or these future attackers who might keep coming.
Having a topic is always better.
"I don't know anything about that attacker who looks exactly like Steve," Tony Stark said, expression unchanged.
Nick Fury kept his posture, while others' eyes showed faint disappointment.
"But I do know where that zombie came from—he's named Scott, from another parallel universe."
Tony Stark's words made everyone's hair stand on end; the entire conference room fell utterly silent.
"The entire universe—including Asgard—has been infected. Everyone has turned into zombies: conscious, but unable to control their hunger for human flesh."
He glanced at Thor, who was slowly straightening his back, expression blank, and said in a low voice:
"We're in trouble—trouble from other universes."
About two hours later.
"Can I go now?" Tony Stark picked up his coat and said:
"Dinner time's passed—if Pepper gets mad, Stark Industries will shut down for days."
Nick Fury nodded and personally pulled open the frosted, opaque glass door, gesturing with his hand: "After you."
"Thank you, Stark."
As Tony passed by, Nick Fury suddenly spoke again: "Can I ask one question?"
Tony: "What?"
Nick Fury: "Are they really siblings from the same family?"
"Family siblings? Hmm, of course," Tony nodded—it must be the identity the reincarnation space had assigned them.
But as soon as he said it, everyone's expressions turned strange, especially Steve's.
Nick Fury pulled a remote from his leather jacket and pressed a button; a video projection appeared on the wall: two people strolling leisurely on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Su Lin and Yi Leina.
"Records show Mr. Gu Yue and Miss Bai are cousins—Miss Bai apparently has Russian ancestry."
"So—"
Tony frowned, then saw it: on the Brooklyn Bridge, Su Lin leaned in to kiss the other—and simultaneously aimed his hand like a pistol directly at the surveillance camera.
Ziii—
The surveillance feed burst into static, then went black.
"Ask our new friends if they need help contacting the German Frankfurt consulate?"
"That's where you can register for marriage."
"Even for free America, this is too free."
After Tony Stark left with a forced smile, Nick Fury stood by the window, watching until the sports car vanished.
"Is everything he said true?"
He was not asking Natasha or the others—he looked up at the surveillance camera above him.
In the surveillance room, the aged Tony with streaks of white hair exchanged glances with the other three Avengers from 2023, then said:
"I don't know."
Queens, New York · Flushing Street
During the day, it was bustling and lively, but at night, there weren't even many parked cars on the street.
Though it was Tang Renjie, once night fell, certain individuals with skin-color advantages would emerge under cover of darkness, clashing with local Chinese gangs over business.
"Did Wu Li and the others disappear near here?"
A black man, around forty, with a white beard, stepped out of a golden portal, followed by five humanoid figures wrapped in bloodstained Bai Bu, struggling violently.
"It's already confirmed to be after the end of the Avengers—how could there be deaths?" the man muttered to himself:
"A legendary mage, a necromancer, Wu Li possessed divine power from the God of Secrets—even facing a team of reincarnators, they shouldn't have vanished without a trace."
After a moment's thought, he gazed at the five humanoid figures emitting a rotting stench behind him.
"Go. The flesh I promised you."
With a dismissive tone, as the five figures wrapped in Bai Bu bore golden marks on their foreheads, the bandage-like cloth slowly slipped away.
Zombie Banner, Zombie Quicksilver, Zombie Phoenix Woman, Zombie Black Panther, Zombie Iron Man.
"No! I'm almost able to control myself!" Zombie Phoenix Woman struggled. "Let me go back from here!"
"Kill me quick." Zombie Banner lay on the ground, his deformed belly bulging with several still-wriggling things: "The smell of flesh—so many living people!"
Zombie Quicksilver had already moved—in an instant, like a silver lightning bolt, he raised his hand-blade to strike down on Zombie Banner's head.
"Kill me," Zombie Banner's eyes pleaded.
But on Zombie Quicksilver's forehead, a crimson rune mark appeared.
"I am the god who governs the laws of flesh and soul across the universe. You ate the flesh I gave you—you must obey me, just as dogs obey their master."
"Go. Keep your distance. Don't use too much power. Let me see who touched my team members."
He seized invisible soul threads in his hand.
Crackling, the five zombie heroes surged wildly in different directions, wind howling past their ears, five perspectives shifting rapidly. As the man synchronized his senses with the zombie heroes, he observed silently.
A silver crescent moon hung in the sky; beneath the night, the ravenous zombies endured the temptations along the way and arrived at their designated positions.
SHIELD Headquarters in Washington D. C., Stark Tower in Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge, the Mutant Academy, and 20 Ingram Street in Flushing.
"Dinner time, children."
Blood mist spread from the zombie heroes' mouths; just a drop of fresh blood was enough to awaken the bloodlust in even the most disciplined superheroes.
Terrifying roars, growls, and mechanical sounds erupted.
"Hulk! Hungry—!!!"
No prompting needed—this giant was already a zombie in constant hunger, with zero self-control.
Panicked crowds burst from their blocked cars, fleeing at ant-like speeds.
With a casual motion, Hulk crushed the nearby Santana into scrap metal, sniffed the air, and his zombie-specific flesh-sense locked onto a figure approaching against the flow.
A scent even more fragrant than any living flesh.
For a moment, Zombie Hulk stared at the man with a slightly disappointed expression and a camera hanging around his neck, drool dripping from his mouth for the first time in ages.
"Hulk think you smell good."
"I think so too."
Su Lin sighed: "Can you retract your tongue? I have zero interest in it."
Zombie Hulk didn't answer. In the blink of an eye, crushing wind pressure pressed down upon him.
The green monster—its jaws gaping, gums exposed, nose gone—swung its massive arm, overturning vehicles along the way, now standing before Su Lin.
At that moment, Su Lin had just finished wrapping a magenta belt around his waist.
As mechanical synthesized tones sounded, multiple illusions materialized beside Su Lin—he punched the giant's arm, and the tri-color armor of black, white, and magenta appeared simultaneously with the overlapping illusions!
"I've wanted to do this for a long time."
He kicked Zombie Hulk in the face, sending him reeling; a gap opened on the left side of his waistband, ejecting a black card with writhing tentacles.
He tapped the card twice.
"For you, I'll use this card."
It was a card depicting a cloak, a monocle, and a starry eye pattern.
Kamen Ride Fu Fu Fu Sheng Xuan Huang Yuanshi Tianzun!
The next instant.
Slender, translucent tentacles glowed as they erupted from the ground, wrapping and cocooning Su Lin, who had spread his arms.
Pale gray light poured from the gaps between the tentacles; in the instant countless spirit insects and tentacles exploded outward, a Kamen Rider resembling a British gentleman, primarily clad in Xuan Huang colors, appeared on the bridge.
His limb joints, chest, and back were woven entirely from countless tiny tentacles; esoteric symbols were branded into the armor.
"Come."
He raised his dark transparent cloak, adjusted the monocle on his right eye socket, and beckoned with a finger:
"Count your sins."
"Damn, so otaku."
Unable to hold back, Su Lin teleported beside the dazed Zombie Hulk and raised his right hand high.
Fuck you!
In the instant his palm struck the opponent's face, the energy of a supernova somewhere in the universe was grafting over—Boom—the Zombie Hulk erupted in a shockwave, breaking the sound barrier and becoming a meteor flying backward!
This feeling is finally right.
Su Lin stood on the bridge, which had a triangular gap shattered through it; he snapped his fingers, and several cars that had been flipped and flung away by the Hulk reappeared beside him.
Inside the cars were terrified civilians screaming, and it wasn't until several seconds later that they steadied their nerves and stumbled out of the vehicles.
"Who are you?" a blond-haired boy asked the classic question.
"I'm just someone passing through," Su Lin pulled out a top hat and placed it on his head, glancing sideways at the boy and saying: "godman."
On the other side, the Zombie Iron Man reached the top floor of Stark Tower.
He knew he could no longer turn back.
Bloodlust and hunger nearly swallowed all his reason; though he tried to lead the other zombie heroes against this hunger, they had ruined his plan.
This was another world—he gazed at the warm scene reflected in the floor-to-ceiling window: in candlelight, Tony Stark, still human, shared dinner with Virginia Potts.
The young red-haired chef, smiling gently, lifted a rosemary-topped steak from the pan, placed it on the plate, and split it in half with a wave of his hand.
The remnants of his reason made his throat emit a complex Horned Sihou, yet the sound was minuscule amid the roaring—like the lost beauty and glory that had passed.
Sorry, unlucky Su Tuoni.
"You shouldn't have gone on a date with Pepper tonight."
He smashed through the specially made missile-proof glass and burst into Stark Tower.
But beneath his torn, battered mask, he bit into no flesh.
What met his eyes was endless starlight, and…
Countless falling stars!
A terrifying force pinned him motionless—even the remnants of the Devourer's power within his body could not let him struggle. Gazing at this sight, the Zombie Iron Man's eyes showed rare clarity.
