Chapter 579: The Stealthy Nyaa-ko
::xshuquge
The spire of the Empire State Building in New York.
City lights blazed into a glittering sea of stars; the cold wind, carrying honks and clamor, struck Su Lin's face as he stood atop the spire, gazing afar.
Beneath the finite world and the horizon of the sky, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Hudson River, and the East River's night scenes lay fully visible.
"Too urbanized."
Su Lin pushed a stray lock of hair upward, murmuring: "Gas explosions, food poisoning, gas leaks—just hand it to the fake news. They're professionals anyway."
"What are you showing off for over there?!" Lu Mingfei and the others shouted upward from the railing of the 102nd-floor observation deck.
"Are you serious? Stark and Weigong Shilang are almost broken!"
"Stop nagging—how many times has this happened?!" Su Lin pressed his forehead, as if lost in memory:
"Troubles always find you, for all kinds of coincidences, whether you seek them or not—even when you go to Tiancheng to slack off, you still get dragged in."
"I know that teaming up with you guys, the chosen ones, means getting pulled into these fate vortices."
"But!"
"Since everything's already ruined anyway, I'd rather find trouble myself than wait for it to come knocking!"
"To hell with your superhero secret war arc—this is." Su Lin opened his eyes, suddenly spreading his arms: "Holy Grail War!"
"Won't the IP value get crushed?" Xing asked.
"Then it's a secret Holy Grail War!" Su Lin roared.
Meanwhile, winds churned and clouds surged; an invisible ripple spread outward from the primordial void of the cosmos.
In the observation restaurant on the 86th floor, candle flames flickered; a white cloth lay spread on the square table, the New York night view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows reflecting all its splendor.
"Look at me closely," Su Su Tuoni said softly as he slipped a ring onto Pepper's left ring finger: "We're getting married tomorrow morning, then heading straight to our honeymoon."
"Su Su Tuoni," Pepper said dazedly: "Isn't this too fast?"
"Not fast at all—maybe the world will end the day after tomorrow." Su Su Tuoni snapped his fingers and ordered a waiter to bring a bottle of 1995 Segré Vineyard's Red Queen Rosé.
After pouring Pepper a glass, he carried the wine glass to the open kitchen counter and placed it before the red-haired boy who was just taking off his apron.
"Emiya chef, do you have any wishes?" Su Su Tuoni asked.
"World peace," Weigong Shilang looked up, his eyes a tangled mess: "Kill everyone in the movie script who wants to steal Ilia and the Holy Grail."
Su Su Tuoni nodded slightly: "To peace."
Thick clouds blanketed the sky, hiding stars and moon; the gale grew fiercer, howling between the city's skyscrapers; the air grew heavy with oppression, an invisible weight pressing down over the city.
"World permission opened!"
An unprecedented brilliant light pierced the heavens, streaming toward the boundless void beyond the universe.
"Historical era implanted!"
A fabricated story stretched toward the infinite end of time; the drifting, illusory path gradually solidified into something real and unshakable.
"Cosmic laws altered!"
As if the world were nearing its end, the hour of destruction had arrived; scenes of apocalypse flickered in and out of the storm and black clouds, radiating a gorgeous yet terrifying alien light.
"Is the timeline being pulled?" Teacher Yan Sen glanced at the bewildered crowd and unrolled a scroll to display it.
A three-dimensional pillar of light pierced through space, and countless dark star clusters symbolizing the cosmos, as if caught in a storm, began being drawn toward the pillar.
As if guided by a third force, the World Tree, woven from emerald timelines, expanded; infinite timelines intertwined and twined, swiftly wrapping the light and surging into it.
Centered on New York in 2012, a timeline storm began sweeping across countless universes.
"..." Meng Qi's expression hardened; he turned to Yi Leina and probed: "Why don't you rein him in?"
Yi Leina, holding her tricorn hat against the gale, said: "No way—I'm not his mom."
Crackling!
Fierce lightning erupted; eyes from beyond the dimensions, stirred by the spacetime shift, turned toward this place.
Yet at that moment, heaven and earth suddenly changed; countless beams of light burst forth, and the entire universe trembled slightly.
Light from beyond the cosmos converged and flowed together; a dawn broke through the vastness, expanding, solidifying, as if crossing the infinite void from an impossibly distant dimension.
Upon closer look—it was another multiverse about to descend!
Time-loopers, transmigrants, reincarnators sneaking in were negligible, too insignificant for the universe to care about.
But when an external multiverse actively approached, it could not be ignored; thus, the barrier of the Omniverse blocked the intruding force, halting it in place for this suspended instant.
Two worlds stood side by side, illuminating all heavens.
"In the primordial dawn, ten directions of light shone upon frosty heavens and myriad forms."
Su Lin picked up the long oval, olive-shaped fragment, gripping it tightly; a color that embraced all things spread across the blue starry sky.
"It's just a final match."
He grinned, then opened his mouth and swallowed the palm-sized "Skylight" whole.
Invisible things began to sprout; his pupils ignited; unstoppable terrifying light poured from his mouth; this new, alien creation law clashed violently with the several creation laws already engraved within his body.
Gray mist and chaotic seas blurred; the primordial light illuminated the beginning of Yi; the eternal furnace core froze spacetime.
All the creation laws that had intended to "welcome the new friend" rushed forward, surrounding the Skyclight entirely, preparing to beat it down.
They got along very well.
Outside the universe, in the research institute established by the Cycle Space in the void.
A girl with silver hair and emerald eyes, wearing a JK school uniform, twirled a crowbar in her hand, aiming it at the sleeping cosmic concept avatar, eager to swing.
"If I hit him with this crowbar, will I wake him up early?"
"Nyarlatotep, no one invited you to the research institute."
A humanoid form made of gears and machinery spoke in a monotone.
"My current form is Nyaa-ko."
The gear humanoid said nothing.
"How boring," Nyaa sighed:
"My evil god radar told me I can't smuggle myself in from the Graveyard of All Things, so I came here to take a look."
"Didn't I indirectly spread a lot of chaos for you guys too?"
"That universe has a lot of Cthulhu elements, you know."
As she spoke, the tuft of hair on her head pointed toward the Marvel Universe.
"So couldn't you give me just a tiny fragment of that poor guy?" Nyaa adopted a pitiful, pleading posture: "I've been bored for so long."
The chaotic deity who thrives on deceiving and tempting humans, spreading chaos across the void multiverse and countless different worlds, cannot be trusted.
Regardless of which avatar, the evil, calculating nature is always the same.
The gear humanoid turned away, ignoring the other; various precise devices and ancient steampunk instruments ticked and tocked.
"I can't go to that amusement park I was interested in anymore."
Nyaa didn't seem ready to give up; she leaned close to the gear humanoid and said: "You finally got rid of that antique Time Lord—can't you help me just a little?"
"Please, I'll do anything. By the way, this human-assigned character design includes a juicer girl trait."
"." The gear humanoid chose to remain silent.
At that moment, alarms blared violently from all instruments inside the research institute.
Complex mathematical symbols surged rapidly; on the projected observation image, a colossal entity suddenly appeared.
"Another crossover again? Tsk."
Nyaa pouted, squinted, and leaned her upper body into the antique television, saying:
"Why not have a proper crossover with our side? Why should only Eye Demon Ghorat be the sole Old One inside?"
"That embarrassing Cthulhu thing is still sleeping inside. Strange—there's a familiar fluctuation in this universe. A follower? A believer?"
"If this universe gets merged into the Omniverse, I won't even need to come to you guys anymore—hehehe."
She grinned wickedly, staring at the universe floating in the void, nearly shoving her entire body into the television.
From the darkness beyond time and beyond imagination, infinite chaos surged toward the other universe, blocked outside the Marvel Universe's barrier.
On a level beyond biological comprehension, certain information made contact and transformed.
The next instant.
Nyaa emerged from the television with a blank expression.
She rubbed her eyes, pinching out glowing specks from her eye sockets—like the crusty secretions humans call eye boogers upon waking each morning.
"It's impossible I'm seeing things."
Nyaa trembled, tears welling in her eyes; her expression shifted several times before she turned back to the television.
On the observation image displayed by the research institute, the Eternal slumbered, nurturing the First Celestial Body, while external wandering universes were severed by spacetime dimensions.
The gear humanoid said:
"After time-line and content-volume analysis, it belongs to the multiverse, but no trace of void dimensional ascent or descent was detected—how did it suddenly appear here?"
"From your professional perspective," Nyaa asked, staring at the screen: "Can we enter that universe?"
This time, the gear humanoid did not remain silent:
"In the past two cycles of reincarnation, it was occasionally seen—either swallowed after integration by the universe designated 'Marvel,' or destroyed and plundered by local strongholds."
No sooner had it finished speaking than all instruments inside the research institute emitted piercing alarms.
Now, the Marvel Universe had mutated into the conceptual entity known as the First Celestial Body; from its right hand, surging flames of light rippled outward.
They still had not awakened, but the flames that poured forth transformed into terrifying forms that struck terror into the soul.
A pale hand, immeasurable and indescribable, constructed from pure cosmic energy, extended its index finger toward the suddenly arrived universe.
"The First Celestial Body's arrangement has activated."
The gear humanoid spoke without emotion: "It seems He intends to act against this universe."
The perspective was lifted as if to ten thousand zhang above, allowing every detail to be seen clearly below.
At that moment, from another universe, a figure emerged—clad in a classical long robe reaching to the feet, its entire form composed of a divine radiance too brilliant to behold.
"From my view, the First Celestial Body has the greater chance of victory."
He, too, reached out his index finger across the void toward the "First Celestial Body."
"No."
The gear humanoid's gears and machinery spun at blinding speed; thick black smoke poured from the gaps as he stared, stunned, at the scene and cried out:
"They're not going to fight!"
At the instant their fingertips were about to touch, infinite light and sacred voices shook the entire cosmos!
"This is—"
"Genesis—?!"
Vast light and laws erupted from the point of contact; the entire void trembled, and the abyss-corrupted regions turned pure white in an instant.
Countless abyssal energies and world remnants shattered and flew upward, swallowed entirely within the blinding white.
"The time of return has come."
As if an ancient whisper, at the absolute limit of biological comprehension, resonated like a thunderous bell.
Until the rising light faded and vanished, the lush, emerald World Tree reemerged within the cosmic conceptual avatar, splitting and entangling infinite timelines.
All around settled once more into stillness.
Yet within the World Tree, a white vortex now spun, emitting a radiance that both blocked and contained all laws.
"I understand."
The gear humanoid snapped back to awareness and immediately retrieved an instrument to record and transmit data:
The First Heaven split off a portion of itself, which regrew elsewhere, and given its scale, gathering mythic information from the Void or occupying a mature natural universe was no difficult task.
Thus, it could reclaim the severed part at a critical moment.
I originally thought it was a fool with a weak mind, blown up by its own followers, but it seems my earlier assessment of it was deeply flawed.
After a flurry of activity, the Gear Human turned to Nyaa, who had remained unusually quiet.
"Are you certain?"
A strand of Nyaa's hair sprouted into a tentacle, and she smiled sweetly: "That too is the First Heaven?"
"The force laws on the First Heaven closely overlap with those of the new universe," said the Gear Human. "The Institute's detection system can even identify your Chaotic Deities."
"Heh." Nyaa turned to leave, but hurried back after only a few steps.
She pulled a pink bubble from her chest and placed it before the Gear Human, speaking coldly:
"Give me some fragments, and once I enter, I'll give you this power of Yog-Sothoth!"
The Gear Human froze, its machinery whirring furiously again, spewing thick black smoke.
Temporal correction complete.
In the Marvel Universe, certain magical texts vaguely described the story of the 'Omnipotent Holy Grail'; history began to diverge.
Magicians across different universes and different time points recorded this term and began searching for related materials.
They passed it down from generation to generation.
