Chapter 583: The Formation of the Multiversal Defenders
Late at night, beside a hastily lit bonfire.
"They plan to attack Cassandra Nova's stronghold tomorrow."
Logan walked over and sat down, raising his bottle and asking, "Why don't you guys say something too?"
Deadpool sat atop a fallen log, to his left was Constantine with a cigarette dangling from his lips but unlit, to his right was Nyaa-ko staring blankly at a purple bubble.
Seeing no response, Logan aimed the bottle's mouth at Deadpool and said, "Wei De De, you fucking piece of shit, weren't you supposed to save the world?"
Deadpool turned his head at the words.
He stared at Logan for a moment, then slowly lowered his gaze, fixated on the burning bonfire as logs crackled and fleeting sparks vanished in the glow.
Almost no response.
Fucking hell.
"Ha!" Logan glanced at the whiskey in his hand and grinned vacantly.
He still doubted whether he'd drunk too much.
After a day's drive, they finally found the resistance group that the injured 'Human Torch' had mentioned.
Along the way, nothing particularly shocking happened.
Just Deadpool's body suddenly splitting open into a portal, with that guy named 'John Constantine' crawling out of his abdomen using 'magic'.
Ever since then, they've been cursed with bad luck the whole damn trip!
Chased by Nova's troops, hunted by some Void beast named Aelios, pursued and bitten by unknown demons, struck by a falling spaceship.
If not for his near-immortal healing factor, anyone else would've been dead halfway.
The only lucky thing was that after Nyaa-ko got in the vehicle, these three freaks started talking nonsense about God, the heavens, the Devourer—some insane crap.
Thank God, Wei De De the giant baby's endless mouth finally shut for once.
It gave Logan a sense of peace he hadn't felt in a long time.
Even though afterward, he suffered twenty-three fatal injuries, was struck by lightning eighteen times, the car broke down and exploded mid-journey, and a zombie army dropped from the sky.
Chaos everywhere, danger everywhere, disaster everywhere—but he still had to celebrate that this idiot Wei De De had learned to shut up.
Never had a better start—he was almost ready to cheer and toast for it!
Motherfucker.
Logan took a large sip of whiskey, set down the bottle, and walked into the wilderness with his adamantium claws extended.
But over time, this extreme weirdness began to unsettle him.
These three walking corpses were as useless as broken machines, showing almost no reaction even when attacked.
"What's wrong with your friends?" X-23 Laura stepped out from a nearby abandoned RV.
Blade and Gambit also raised their weapons, alert toward the dark grass.
"Probably got their defenses breached by something."
After being advised by X-23 Laura, Logan decided to join Blade and Gambit's plan to escape this supernatural junkheap of the Void.
The problem now is that the other three freaks have no idea what they're discussing—even the loudmouth who kept begging for 'Wolverine' to save his world has stopped talking about saving anything.
Boom!
Flashing blades and explosions of fire erupted simultaneously.
Compared to the Void resistance group fighting the attackers, the atmosphere beside the bonfire felt utterly out of place.
"Next time you do a crossover, give me a heads-up."
Deadpool was muttering to an invisible camera when he suddenly remembered something and asked:
"Besides me, did you leave any black magic teleportation spells on anyone else? Maybe we could—"
"You mean that old fortune-teller who tore open the universe with his bare hands?"
Constantine replied listlessly, "He'd tear me apart first."
Deadpool slumped slightly in disappointment, then immediately lifted his head and said, "There should've been two more people in our group back then."
"One was a local Steel God, the other a Divine King named Galen."
Constantine said without expression, "Which one do you think is better?"
Especially with this kind of cruel, high-level black magic, using Deadpool would spare even the conscience's condemnation.
"." Deadpool raised his hand and said:
"I don't even have the mood to go get the Golden Sand Eagle or Deadpool Dog—that lucky bastard. What do you think about surrendering or moving to another world?"
"What about the fan-service female characters who'll show up in that future?"
Nyaa-ko put away the purple bubble and forced a grotesque smile:
"If it's a creator of that rank, then no matter which dimension of the Void, as long as there's a world with the Christian creation myth, He can reclaim the power originating from Himself."
"And besides Him, there are many other Devourers at the apex of different mythological systems."
"Like the Cthulhu mythos has plenty, hahaha~~ hahahaha."
Through the split-mind perspective and information left by Yog-Sothoth in Gotham, she confirmed that Constantine's world had indeed suffered reverse memetic contamination, with a trend toward large-scale spread across the multiverse.
The effect of the reverse state had risen in her estimation by more than one tier.
Even God from DC got infected—if the Fool returns to the Chaotic Wang Ting, then whether it's her or other Chaotic deities—
Reversed!
No way up to heaven, no path down to earth.
Constantine exhaled and suddenly said, "If He's fully restored, His speed shouldn't be this slow."
"What speed?" Deadpool asked.
"The speed of devouring worlds," Constantine said, touching the Spear of Destiny in his chest.
"He hasn't fully recovered—if he had, your world would've been snatched into the new world and devoured like Tiancheng or the Ocean of Wishes multiverse already was."
Perhaps the God I worship has not yet truly reunited with Him!
The God is still guiding me to find a way.
"Are you still dreaming at a time like this?!" Deadpool tilted his head, emotions suddenly spilling out:
"Do you know there's a Black God in your DC Comics' Lucifer? He controls angels and demons, seeks to destroy the world, and then create a new one after annihilation."
"The storyline's been updated now! Stronger than ever! But doesn't this plot seem awfully similar to you, you little idiot?!"
Deadpool tore off his mask, revealing his scarred face, and spittle sprayed all over Constantine's face.
"And all of this is your fault—and that damn, fucking, thousand-times-cursed Tony Stark's fault! You brought that thing in here!"
Constantine clenched his teeth, stood up, and shoved Deadpool away.
"He's also your world's First Heaven, you brain-dead idiot!"
"Is that so?! Then he's also from DC! Why isn't he TOAA in Marvel?! Then I'd kneel and lick his boots!"
Deadpool lunged forward again, their faces nearly touching.
Magical energy surged in Constantine's hands—he was ready to strike at the slightest provocation.
Ziiii~ Pop!
A few seconds later, Nyaiko released her hand from his head and said:
"He's right—the Fallen God isn't in a complete state yet."
"Puke!!!"
Constantine bent over, gagging, scrubbing his mouth with dirt and sand.
Deadpool, entranced, touched his lips. "Holy shit… I just kissed Keanu Reeves?"
"From what I've learned, the First Heaven hasn't truly awakened," Nyaiko bit her thumb and said:
"Let's first check the normal timeline. Strong interference over a self-same counterpart doesn't mean his power has fully recovered."
"There might still be a chance to stop him. I'm certain the First Heaven isn't complete—even many fragments remain detached from him."
"And he summoned another multiverse to merge with this one—surely because his power is insufficient."
Constantine covered his mouth, chest heaving, and said: "Right. Let's get out of this hellhole first, then find some powerful allies."
"Looks like we still have a chance. This isn't the time to give up," Deadpool spread his hands, his demeanor suddenly returning to its usual madness:
"After finishing Deadpool 3, I'll seamlessly transition into filming the next movie. No big deal."
"For Marvel."
He extended a fist toward the other two, solemnly extending an invitation.
"For DC."
"For H. P. Lovecraft."
Three fists collided.
"Maybe we need a cool team name? Like the Avengers or the X-Men," Deadpool suggested.
As Logan, dragging his nearly healed wounds, returned near the campfire, he saw the three weirdos clinking bottles in toast, declaring the formation of the "Multiverse Protectors."
"I really want to go back right now."
Logan rolled his eyes, made the sign of the cross over his chest: "For Christ's sake, Jesus, can you please control these idiots? For the first time I'm begging you."
"There's one thing I don't understand—about this First Heaven you just mentioned."
Constantine twisted open his bottle, took a sip, and asked: "Why haven't the other gods of this world intervened, if He's the 'Above All Things'?"
Deadpool shrugged, drank straight from the bottle through his mask, spilling liquor all over himself:
"Even in comics, they're background props ninety percent of the time—even when something like Secret Wars involving the Living Tribunal happens."
"Either they get randomly killed off, or they're just sitting somewhere outside dimensions, watching the show."
"Probably can't interfere," Nyaiko tugged at her lip.
Deadpool lowered his bottle, puzzled, and asked:
"You seem to know a lot about new plot setups. Has anyone said your character concept conflicts with mine?"
"A bunch of idiots," Nyaiko's hair tuft drooped, her expression twisted. "Somehow got hold of a certain universe-binding system, forcibly handed it to the First Heaven—the very method by which lifeforms assimilate universes."
"Unless you destroy the entire Omniverse—including all history from the First Age until now—completely and utterly, he will forever remain bound to this universe, possessing the combined power of all lifeforms born from it."
"If he fully awakens, he will completely absorb the Omniverse. Given the scale of this universe, you'll never be able to kill him again—even if you destroy the universe, he can recreate everything in a single thought."
"Whoa…" Deadpool blinked. "So powerful… So what's the Living Tribunal doing?"
Nyaiko smiled and asked: "You mean Logos?"
Nyaa-ko smiled and asked in return, "Are you referring to Logos?"
……
A being with six arms, six wings, and three faces, radiating silver light, sat upon the dimension above the boundless cosmic spacetime.
He is the new order, the new law constraining all things.
He is the reason and rules of the Grand Void Universe, permeating heaven and earth, invisible and pervasive—philosophically called
—the totality of all comprehensible laws: Logos.
The Old Testament's Proverbs and Psalms praise God's wisdom; Genesis records how God created through speech—thus, God's wisdom is the inner Logos, and His word is the outer Logos.
At the dawn of this universe's rebirth, under the influence of the First Heaven, the Lord of Chaos and the Lord of Order killed the Living Tribunal, forcibly merged with the Intermediary, and gave birth to the new Living Tribunal: Logos.
Although Logos was ultimately defeated by Black Panther and the Tiger God from the main 616 universe, that was only because Eternity had been freed from within the First Heaven.
Now, this unknown history, warped by time-travelers' altered timelines, has become a new chronicle, overlaying the original canon and restoring the universe.
As if Logos had never been defeated—he is the Living Tribunal of all multiverses!
Meanwhile, the original timeline's Living Tribunal endlessly undergoes corruption, death, and rebirth—until the new chronicle fully replaces the canon, at which point he will cease to exist.
And in the original history, the Living Tribunal continually undergoes alienation, death, and rebirth, until the new chronicle fully becomes the official history, at which point He will cease to exist.
The left face: "The Master has granted us the right to govern all origins of the universe."
The right face: "Seal all forces that disrupt the balance of reality."
The central face: "Now, render judgment upon the existence of the Holy Grail War."
All Logoi within the multiverse began to unify, tracing erroneous histories tied to the 'Holy Grail War' across countless timelines.
"Is this part of your plan, Master?"
Shocked expressions appeared on all three faces.
"For the balance of the Celestial Universe, Master."
"Yes, I understand."
"I will fully cooperate with your plan."
A sacred ritual array emerged beneath the Logoi of the Triple Face; certain origins within the Omnipotent Universe began to shift and graft.
"All for..."
"The Celestial Annals!"
Like static flickering on an old television, after a crackling flash, the Logoi vanished from the conceptual spacetime.
The Golden Life Court of the Triple Face reappeared, its eyes opening simultaneously to gaze upon the World Tree woven from timelines.
"This is to protect the true origin of history."
"Now, declare: the existence of the Holy Grail War."
"Established."
A golden hourglass appeared; barely a moment passed before the Logoi reappeared, replacing the Golden Life Court.
Cycle repeats until one side perishes.
Within the universe of the Greater Holy Grail.
Su Lin, within the Source, felt countless origins surging in from the external universe and wiped sweat from his brow.
Didn't expect I actually fooled them.
Never heard that the First Celestial could unite with the Logoi to confine all extraneous forces within the framework—never mind how they did it.
"Once I settle this and get out of here..."
Su Lin fixed his gaze on the Tree of Time, took out 【My Sandbox World】 from his system space, and projected it outward:
"I swear I'll kick your ass with my boots!"
"I swear it!"
