Chapter 3017: Stage Guidance! Caution in All Things Is the Best Policy!
He slowly closed his eyes, thinking that if the Wan Nu King did not exist, then killing Wang Canghai and wiping out the Wang family would have meant everything was already over.
But now that such an existence was involved, the current plan was at most thirty percent complete.
What exactly the Wan Nu King was, and what choices he would make after breaking free of his seal, Zhang Lin still knew nothing about.
Zhang Lin tapped his forehead lightly with his index finger, calculating what would come next, even though everything that was going to happen had long been within his expectations.
Even if there were deviations, they would be minor and would not affect the overall situation, but the current pace still needed to be controlled by him.
He was wondering whether to tell the Archaeology Team Two about this in advance, even if not telling Yang Lu that this person was Wang Canghai.
But Zhang Lin could tell them that a mysterious person was hurrying toward their location, and that this person's strength was considerable, acting with absolutely no scruples in the true sense.
The benefit of doing this would be giving them a timely warning, but Zhang Lin was still somewhat hesitant. Anyone who had heard his storytelling should know that Zhang Lin was never someone who liked to agonize over things.
He always said whatever came to mind, and no one received much face from him, except for a select few; even officialdom's face Zhang Lin would not necessarily give.
But now he was genuinely hesitating.
And once a matter plunged him into such indecision, it was certainly no trivial thing.
Of course Zhang Lin could utterly despise Wang Canghai, and the other's petty tricks had always been beneath his notice.
But if Yang Lu were made to face Wang Canghai, who had by now fallen into madness and acted without any bottom line, that would indeed be a great crisis for Archaeology Team Two as a whole.
Under this premise, following normal logic, a warning was necessary.
But if he truly did that, Zhang Lin worried it would backfire, because Archaeology Team Two had clearly already adapted to the current pace.
If a single message from Zhang Lin rashly altered the existing pace, that would not be help to Archaeology Team Two, but rather creating trouble for them — which was the main reason Zhang Lin was now caught in this state of indecision.
If nothing else worked, should he just keep going step by step and see?
Zhang Lin could not help repeatedly asking himself the same question: both warning and not warning had their drawbacks, so everything depended on his judgment, and on just how strong Archaeology Team Two's ability to withstand pressure truly was.
Ever since Archaeology Team Two came out of the Worm Valley, Zhang Lin had been training their ability to act on their own, and this included not only Yang Lu but the others as well.
Now the composition of Archaeology Team Two was extremely complex; although the number of capable people had grown, because many of them came from different places, their ability to coordinate had grown steadily worse.
But through Zhang Lin's efforts over the past few days, he had made them aware of this hidden danger within their ranks, and the first to react was Yang Lu.
She always grasped Zhang Lin's intent the fastest, and under this premise, Zhang Lin could naturally entrust many matters to Yang Lu with peace of mind.
But the matter at hand was no trivial thing, completely different from before — Wang Canghai had his own authority to speak on all tombs, and he was fundamentally different from those other Wang family members.
Even if, under his arrangements, Archaeology Team Two could ultimately escape danger and Wang Canghai would stop in time, Zhang Lin could not guarantee that after this matter was over, Archaeology Team Two would still be as intact as before.
The more Zhang Lin thought about this, the more troubled he became, but soon he found himself smiling unconsciously, then shook his head, asking himself when he had become like this.
