Chapter 13: A Unique Way of Communicating
As expected of someone who had entered the game early, although Chen Ai's communication skills were not very strong, her ability to put on an act was quite good.
She followed Viktor the whole way, listening to him introduce the specific situation of the theater, like a listener who did not like to talk, constantly hearing Viktor pour out his grievances.
In the end, Viktor even blurted out that the theater was poorly managed; of course, he also felt a moment of awkwardness, as it was a very embarrassing thing to mention in front of a lady he had just met.
Following behind Chen Ai, Yezi found everything she saw to be novel.
It was not just her; Chen Zhi, who was watching Chen Ai with divine power, had similar feelings.
He had not spent much energy watching the players last night, and he had not felt that Tana City was a particularly prosperous place, especially the Sewers, which were very quiet.
Only by watching Chen Ai at this moment did he realize how lively this place was.
However, it was clear that the technological level of Tana City was not high, and he did not know what kind of changes those players would bring to Tana City after they arrived.
The Emond Theater was not far from this road; after walking past an intersection, one could see the Emond Theater located at the southwest corner of the crossroads.
There were not many people at the theater during the day; Viktor pushed open the back door of the theater and led the two into the interior.
"This is the staff passage; it is currently the rehearsal time for the theater staff," Viktor introduced politely. "This is the prop room; these are costumes in the style of the Second Era, and our repertoire mainly comes from here."
It was clear that Chen Ai did not know much about the style of the Second Era, so Viktor explained: "Our theater mainly focuses on plays from the Second Era. Theology and religion were still quite vague in that era, so we do not have fixed Believers to watch the plays. However, whenever we perform plays about the Sun God, there are quite a lot of viewers."
As soon as he finished speaking, a lady holding a broom lifted the curtain of the dressing room and said with a frown: "That is nothing to be proud of. Although the major churches do not stop the Sun God Cult from preaching in Tana City, the Believers of the Sun God Cult are all guys who don't like to spend money."
"You can't say it like that; they just rarely send flowers to the actors," Viktor explained.
"Send flowers? They won't send anything; these guys are all poor wretches who can't find wives," the lady said, then opened her mouth wide, looked at Chen Ai, and said, "So beautiful. I mean, where is this lady from?"
Chen Ai thought for a moment and replied in Chinese: "The Sewers."
"Xiahui? You come from Xiahui?" It was unclear how the other party heard it, but in any case, the lady put down the broom in her hand very excitedly and walked to Chen Ai almost stiffly. "God, I haven't seen anyone from Xiahui for a long time."
Viktor said from the side: "Our Susan's ancestors came from Xiahui, but she has never been to that place; she was born in Tana City. Susan, this is Miss Emily, and this, this is Miss Ye."
Chen Ai smiled and did not say much, mainly because she did not know the language here at all and could not say much.
What a shy and introverted lady; it was a pity, as such a personality probably could not perform on stage. Viktor had wanted to invite her to perform at the theater, but her personality was really...
"You are so beautiful, why don't you come and perform on stage? The Xiahui People are born artists. Believe me, you are fully capable of handling any performance on stage." Susan did not have as many thoughts as Viktor; she had an outgoing personality and directly invited Chen Ai.
Chen Ai hesitated for a moment; she could draw, but that did not mean she could perform.
However, her friend Yezi was a student at a dance academy.
So she nudged her good friend.
Unfortunately, not knowing how to communicate with the other party, Yezi pursed her lips, nodded, and then pointed in the direction of the stage.
Along the way, Yezi had not spoken.
Viktor had already assumed that the other party could not speak, or did not know the language here very well.
Seeing Yezi's gesture, his eyes lit up, and he asked: "Are you saying that you can perform on stage?"
Yezi nodded and then walked toward the direction of the stage.
On the stage, the theater's core troupe was rehearsing; they needed to rehearse the plays they were going to perform a few times every day.
Because the theater's revenue had not been very good recently, they were preparing to put on a few new plays.
The plays of this era were mostly related to religion, and because the Emond Theater mostly performed plays from the Second Era, there were not many audience members.
And those theaters with specialized audiences were obviously more popular.
Several actors with different faiths were also arguing about which play to perform.
Seeing Viktor come, a male actor walked over quickly and said: "I am really fed up. If my wife knew I was performing a play about the Sun God, she would definitely leave me. I hope to perform a play about the God of Wisdom; that way, we would have more audience members."
"Those guys are all too shrewd. If you ask me, let's perform a play about the God of War. Those plays are easier to attract attention; even the Believers of the Sun God would not refuse to watch a play about the God of War," another male actor also walked over and offered his suggestion.
"I know, I know, you are all very anxious," Viktor said unhurriedly. "This Miss Ye hopes to perform her own act on stage; I hope to take up a little bit of the stage time."
The people who had been arguing stopped immediately; a new actor, a new act—this was something no one had expected.
Who else would come to the Emond Theater to work? It didn't make money here; it could only maintain basic survival.
Looking at Chen Ai and Yezi again, the actors all gasped.
These two were both beauties!
If that lady with the unusual attire went on stage to perform, she wouldn't even need to perform; just sitting there, anyone would be infatuated!
However, seeing the other beautiful lady go on stage, they still did not say anything more, but cleared the space.
They hoped that this Miss Ye's act would be more attractive than her appearance.
Dance does not require language to communicate; Yezi went up and performed a classical dance, added a few big leaps, and did a few somersaults, which immediately shocked all the actors.
And this was without music; if it were accompanied by suitable music...
The theater's pianist sat down at the piano and began to play.
Yezi followed the melody closely and had more physical expression.
So beautiful!
Simply too beautiful!
No language was needed; just the expression of the body was enough to achieve a sufficiently attractive effect.
This must be a dancer!
He hoped to sign this dancer as soon as possible, and he was already imagining the crowded, booming scene of the Emond Theater in his mind.
