Chapter 70: New Maid
Zhuguli nodded, then let this carriage pass, immediately sending people to find Feng Buxi.
"Tell everyone to split up and guard a few exits; she can't just not come out. Send two people who can talk a bit to the Governor's Mansion to check the situation," Zhuguli assigned the manpower. "Make sure Feng Buxi gives a bit more for running errands later; we've put in quite a lot of men."
Even if Zhuguli didn't ask, Feng Buxi would certainly give it, provided that Sarana could actually be found.
Passing by the Governor's Mansion, Sarana finally had the coachman stop. She took out the badge of the Wealth Church and walked into the Governor's Mansion as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Everything here was peaceful and serene. There was no one in the courtyard; one could only see some people talking on the terrace not far away. At the entrance to the main hall, there were also people on duty, waiting for new guests to arrive.
However, Sarana did not intend to go in. The most dangerous place is the safest place. She bypassed the main entrance, walked through the corridor, and went straight into the area where the servants worked.
Changing into a maid's uniform, Sarana looked in the Mirror with satisfaction.
"Uh, are you a new maid?" a young maid asked as she carried some things in. "Sorry, too many new people have come to the Governor's Mansion recently."
"I should be the one apologizing. Is there anything I can help with?" Sarana said with a smile. "It should be very busy today, right?"
"Yes, there are too many things we need to prepare." The young maid simply handed her work to Sarana. "If you aren't busy, could you help go to the wine cellar and get two more bottles of red Wine? The waiter upstairs said there isn't enough."
"No problem," Sarana said with a nod, then carried the tray and walked out of the room.
The timing of her arrival was just right; no one discovered she had snuck in. After going downstairs, she successfully obtained two bottles of red Wine, then went back upstairs and walked into the ongoing banquet.
There were quite a lot of people, but compared to the Royal Capital, everything here seemed so crude.
Tana City was indeed just an ordinary small city.
Clearly, this was not the first time Sarana had done such a thing. She carried the two bottles of Wine, arrived at the bar area, and asked politely, "Is there anything else I can help with?"
"Oh, thanks for your help. These are things the dignitaries upstairs might need. Could you please take these to the terrace on the second floor?"
Sarana smiled slightly and picked up the tray in her hand.
She needed a new identity, one that could not be tracked by the Wealth Church.
But it was too difficult for her. Every person who dealt in black-market identities seemed to know her name. She had been hiding and fleeing all the way to Tana City, yet she still couldn't obtain a new identity.
This was truly frustrating for her. So many people wanted new identities and could get them, but she alone could not.
There wasn't even a sense of accomplishment in doing bad things.
But it didn't matter. Tana City was a chaotic city. Once she had a new identity, she could take the Train back to the Royal Capital and carry out her revenge.
As long as she could get the seal of the Governor's Mansion and forge an identity for herself...
Thinking of this, she observed while carrying the tray. She hadn't read the latest newspapers and didn't know what the Governor looked like, but she could analyze it by seeing who was being surrounded.
It certainly wasn't that man with the slicked-back hair; he should be the Magistrate here, with frivolous manners and a hint of the Royal Capital about him.
And that fellow who looked very simple and like a good-natured person was even less likely to be him; he was likely from the Wisdom Church, as the man's eyes were very wise.
As for... that person who also looked somewhat ostentatious but carried a bit of restraint, he was clearly the Governor without a doubt.
It was said that this Governor's rise to power relied on a witch, because he made the decision to avoid the witch in time, ensuring the personal safety of the various office staff in the Government Building, thus defeating all his political rivals and successfully taking office.
So this Governor always had to be a bit cautious; he couldn't offend people, yet he still had to appear quite composed.
She walked past this Governor while carrying the Wine and then very "accidentally" knocked over what was in her hands.
"Sorry, I, I didn't mean to," Sarana said with a soft, innocent voice. "I, I will take you to change into a new set of clothes."
The commotion here quickly attracted the attention of others. Governor Jones did not want others to see him in such a disheveled state, so he could only frown and say to this reasonably pretty maid, "Hurry up, don't delay serious business."
"Yes, sir." Sarana hurriedly supported Governor Jones and followed him to the changing room.
This must be the living area of Governor Jones: changing room, bedroom, office... Sarana observed everything around her; it seemed her plan would soon succeed.
"Just wait outside." Governor Jones looked at this maid who was curious about everything and felt somewhat irritated. "Don't touch the things here randomly. I will have the butler deduct your wages for this month!"
"I, sir, I'm sorry." Sarana acted particularly pitiful, but she knew in her heart that after today, there would be no one like her in the Governor's Mansion.
She would change into a new identity!
"Excuse me, is Governor Jones in?" Feng Bu'er didn't know when he had walked down from upstairs and said this to Sarana, who was preparing to turn around.
Sarana froze for a second, then said with a smile, "The Governor is inside changing clothes."
"Yeah, you did something wrong, the Governor is inside changing clothes, yet you can still smile." Feng Bu'er snorted coldly. He had just received news from Feng Buxi; otherwise, he would have already appeared here before Sarana could bring the Governor to the changing room.
In a moment, this person would definitely coerce the Governor into creating a few new identities for her.
By then, it wouldn't be so easy to find this person again.
Hearing Feng Bu'er's words, Sarana sneered. She hadn't expected to be recognized so easily; her disguise ability really wasn't up to par.
She struck immediately. A high-ranking member of the Wealth Church was different; the entire wall suddenly turned golden, and the wall bricks were pried off one by one and slammed directly onto Feng Bu'er.
Feng Bu'er also knew how to react, but he hadn't expected the other party to make such a big move upon attacking. A golden shield appeared in his left hand, blocking the falling wall bricks, while he said to the Governor changing clothes inside the room, "Don't come out yet, there's a bit of trouble outside."
"O-okay!" Governor Jones was stunned. Damn it, that maid outside actually had a problem!
It was a good thing the people from the Wealth Church were there.
Sigh, I can't forget him. I am a piece of trash, and I even blame myself. If I hadn't failed to see the signs of his episode and hadn't comforted him in time, perhaps he wouldn't be like this. I even scolded him, asking why he was ignoring me. He was about to relapse, why wouldn't he ignore me? Now he's completely ignoring me o(╯□╰)o. It's not appropriate for me to tell anyone, I can only vent here.
