Chapter 429: PS of the previous chapter
PS of the previous chapter
(ps: The settings here refer to *Investiture of the Gods*, realistic Buddhist history, and my own wild imagination.
Firstly, in current Primordial novels, it is usually Hongjun who preaches, and the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin and Zhunti, Nuwa, and a crowd of ancient gods and immortals run over to listen.
Finally, Hongjun bestows seven strands of Primordial Purple Qi, and the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin and Zhunti, and Nuwa use this to become saints.
This setting should come from *Buddha is Dao*, but Buddha is really not Dao...
I personally like the book *Buddha is Dao* very much, but reality is really not like that.
Even in *Investiture of the Gods*, Hongjun appears, the Three Pure Ones, Jieyin and Zhunti all appear. Hongjun is the master of the Three Pure Ones, but has nothing to do with Jieyin and Zhunti.
This is the original text:
Just see Nezha come to report: "Master Tongtian came with an old Daoist, calling for the master to receive the carriage, I don't know why."
Laozi said: "I already know. This is our teacher, I think he came here to explain the grievances with us."
Then they led the way to welcome him, prostrating by the road and saying: "I don't know the teacher's great carriage has descended, the disciples have lost the reception, hoping for forgiveness."
Daoist Hongjun said: "Just because the twelfth-generation disciples met the killing robbery, causing your two religions to be at odds. I have come here today specifically to explain the grievances with you, each settling in their own religion, do not go against each other."
Laozi and Yuanshi agreed: "Willing to hear the teacher's order."
Then they went to the canopy to meet the Western Sect Leader.
Daoist Hongjun praised: "The Western Paradise is truly a blessed land."
The Western Sect Leader replied: "Dare not."
The Sect Leader invited Daoist Hongjun to meet.
Hongjun said: "I have no restraints with fellow Daoists. These three are my disciples, they should be like this."
Daoist Jieyin and Daoist Zhunti bowed and sat down. Behind them, Laozi and Yuanshi came to pay respects, and the twelfth-generation disciples and all the disciples came to pay respects, all standing on both sides. Master Tongtian also stood on the side.
The Three Pure Ones call Hongjun "Teacher" (additionally, the twelve golden immortals and Jiang Jiang Ziya also call Burning Lamp Teacher, at least Jiang Jiang Ziya calls Daoist Lu Ya Teacher).
And Hongjun calls the Western Sect Leader "Fellow Daoist."
Although Hongjun sits in the upper seat and the Western Sect Leader accompanies him, at least they have seats, while the Three Pure Ones Dao Ancestors are standing.
I didn't follow the traditional "Buddha is Dao" because the worldview is different—wait for the plot to unfold later, and everyone will understand immediately.
Secondly, in reality, after Shakyamuni (Tathagata Buddha) entered extinction, Buddhism entered the "Sectarian Era"—actually, when Shakyamuni was still there, there was no concept of Buddhism and "Buddha" at all.
He strictly forbade idol worship, only treating his own thoughts as a kind of wisdom to help people liberate themselves.
Everyone naturally says "Gods and Buddhas," "Immortals and Buddhas," which shows that Buddhas and gods/immortals are completely different.
The original Buddha was just an enlightened person, a human, not a god, not an immortal.
It's just that today, Buddha almost means the same thing as god/immortal.
Gods and Buddhas, Immortals and Buddhas said together, all represent miracles.
The Buddhist doctrines passed down by Shakyamuni negate gods and Buddhas, negate worship, and are not feudal superstition at all.
Shakyamuni even said directly to his disciples: My doctrine is only a part of the truth, not equal to the whole truth. You can refer to it and learn, do not be superstitious. There must be a path to liberation in the world that I have not yet discovered.
This is Shakyamuni's original words in realistic history (approximate meaning).
Therefore, the Tathagata Buddha in reality is truly great, and he is completely two different existences from the Tathagata Buddha in *Journey to the West*.
Let's put it this way: after Shakyamuni died, Buddhism first experienced the Sectarian Era, splitting into many schools, and only then did Mahayana Buddhism emerge.
And in *Journey to the West*, Tathagata Buddha directly became the leader of "Mahayana Buddhism," this...
The reason Tang Seng went to get scriptures in *Journey to the West* was not because he didn't understand Buddhist scriptures. He had already become a Holy Monk of the Great Tang at that time, but he studied Hinayana Buddhism.
Bodhisattva Guanyin Bodhisattva looked down on Hinayana Buddhism, and the Lingshan Buddha also looked down on it.
But the problem is, the Hinayana Buddhism looked down upon by the Lingshan Buddhas and Bodhisattvas came from Shakyamuni!
Buddhism first had Hinayana Buddhism, and only later developed Mahayana Buddhism.
Shakyamuni didn't say—my doctrine is the Hinayana method.
It was the people of Mahayana Buddhism who boasted that they were great and belittled their predecessors as small.
This is very ridiculous, letting Tathagata Buddha oppose Tathagata Buddha...
To solve this contradiction, the first Buddha to spread Buddhist teachings cannot be Tathagata Buddha.
I changed it to Amitabha Buddha.
In this book, all the glorious achievements of Amitabha Buddha are actually Tathagata Buddha's.
Note that if there are plots in this book later that insult or blacken Tathagata, it does not mean I am negating the Tathagata Buddha in reality; I am only insulting the Tathagata Buddha in *Journey to the West*.
The two Tathagata Buddhas are completely different.) ===== CHAPTER 430 =====
