Chapter 56: Information Completed (Request Monthly Tickets! Request Follows!)

~6 min read 1,074 words

The blonde girl looked at the man with confusion.

Roger pointed to the bathroom: "Tell me, what is this room used for?"

"You're a strange one," Xiaer rolled her eyes: "You wanna do it in here? If you're willing to pay extra, I guess it's fine."

If Roger hadn't given her a painkiller, Xiaer's attitude would've been even worse.

The blonde girl, perhaps because of her weak physique, spoke more softly: "For us, this is a temporary operating room. Many women have given birth here or had abortions, because the success rate is higher here than elsewhere."

"That's right, this place is under the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe," Xiaer agreed.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the unborn, symbol of the anti-abortion movement—yet here, prostitutes used her as a protector of abortion.

It seemed the people of Meilijian understood pragmatism too.

"Alright, tell me about yourselves," Roger leaned against the wall: "Sit down and talk."

"Why? I don't get it," Xiaer plopped down on the floor: "Are you interviewing us?"

"Uh, no, not an interview—just satisfying my curiosity," Roger explained: "I can give you a whole box of pizza."

As he spoke, Qiangsen's footsteps echoed down the hallway, followed by him placing a box of pizza before the two.

Seeing the pizza, Xiaer's expression visibly softened.

"Actually, I'd have told you even without pizza—you just helped us."

But the moment she finished speaking, her stomach growled loudly.

"Eat," Roger handed her the pizza.

Xiaer took the box with slight embarrassment, pulled out a whole slice, and handed it to the blonde girl: "Luola, you eat first."

"Mexican?" Juan suddenly asked.

"Yeah, we both are," Xiaer nodded: "Her hair's dyed—you know, those blonde, pale-skinned bitches always charge more. If my skin weren't so dark, I'd dye mine too."

"Alright, tell me about you—why do you owe the Madman money?" Roger asked.

Xiaer bit into the pizza as she spoke: "My father broke his leg, went to the hospital, and spent all our money. To buy the enhancer, I had to borrow from the Madman."

"Who's the Madman?"

"The Madman's the boss of our street—he likes slapping people and stripping them naked to run through the streets, so everyone calls him the Madman," Xiaer shrugged.

Roger asked: "So you're doing this to pay off the debt?"

"No, my father couldn't pay, so the Madman made me do this. But it's not bad—at least I earn money. What else could I do?" Xiaer smiled with her mouth full of pizza, a smile full of unspeakable irony.

Roger sighed inwardly and turned his gaze to Luola, who had finished her slice.

"What about you?"

"Me?" Luola said calmly: "My parents are addicts. When they don't have enhancers, they beat me. I didn't want to stay home, but I couldn't afford rent, so I did this."

"But now it's better—I earn money and often buy them enhancers. They treat me well now."

Shit.

Hell, they treat her well!

Roger thought today's encounter was utterly absurd.

But Juan and Qiangsen seemed unfazed; Qiangsen even joked: "My parents got violent when they were high too, but once I grew up, they couldn't beat me anymore."

"Too bad I don't have your build," Luola murmured dreamily, then pulled out a cigarette and lit it: "Want a drag?"

"Of course—after eating, a smoke is pure bliss," Xiaer accepted gladly.

Luola extended the cigarette toward Xiaer's mouth. Xiaer didn't immediately bite the filter—instead, she bit Luola's finger first.

Luola giggled, and then, right before the three men, the two embraced.

Watching this tender scene, Roger spread his hands, unsure what to say.

"Look how close they are—I wish I could join them," Qiangsen said enviously.

"Get lost," Roger kicked him hard, sending him stumbling.

You're not envious of their bond—you're just horny for their bodies.

Seeing the two girls grow increasingly passionate, their movements wilder, Roger left the bathroom first.

Clearly, the "best friends" in their words meant something more physical.

Leaving the abandoned mall, they got back in the car, and the information system's prompt appeared immediately.

【Information investigation on "The Haunted Bathroom" completed】

【You witnessed a moment of friendship—SAN Value -4, Spirit Vision +1】

【Reward obtained: Physical Function +0.5, Ancient God's Bronze Coin ×1, $50】

What the hell kind of friendship moment.

But come to think of it, helping with an abortion really is a bond forged in life and death.

"Where to now, Boss Roger?" Qiangsen sat in the back, hunched over.

"Now? Home to sleep," Roger pressed the accelerator; the Highlander shot forward like an arrow, heading straight for the homeless encampment.

Since it was too late today and he feared encountering trouble on the way back to Xin Yidunweier Shequ, Roger chose to sleep in the car.

Fortunately, no police came to check during the night, so he slept soundly the whole night.

The next morning, he woke up, stepped outside the car, and stretched.

As usual, he checked his panel—though his SAN Value and Spirit Vision still differed by over ten points, his daily recovery had increased to three points, meaning he'd fully restore his SAN Value in five days, so he no longer needed to fear anything.

Moreover, he'd grown accustomed to nightmares; he actually felt this state was just right.

After all, a 10% boost to Physical Function was significant—he'd truly miss it if it vanished.

"But come to think of it—if my SAN Value exceeds my Spirit Vision, what state would that be? Would there be a bonus too?"

Roger vaguely felt the answer was yes.

He then turned to the Anchor Point skill—now that this information investigation was complete, two new potential Anchor Points had appeared.

【Anchor Point】

【Existing Anchor Points: 6/9】

【Currently Developable Anchor Points: Natasha, Xiaer, Luola】

"Tsk."

Roger clicked his tongue—if both these girls could become Anchor Points, was he really supposed to patronize their business and become a regular customer?

It sounds like a good idea, but so did the virus.

You can't expect these street girls to have good hygiene or effective defenses.

After all, they can't even afford to buy condoms.

So Roger decided he needed to approach this from the angle of their daily lives.

Perhaps he should help them solve some problems first, to earn their trust.

As he was thinking, his phone suddenly rang.

"Hello, Qiangsen, what is it?"

"Boss Roger, someone's delivering pizzas on Third Avenue again!"

"Perfect, I'm on my way!"
