Chapter 910
Unwilling to accept that she could not yet get the answer she wanted, Qianxi wondered whether recalling Young Yuanzi might still be within the realm of possibility, if she first confirmed the severity of the situation.
"Since I first gained memory, I've had only one sister, Yuyi…" Even the long-surviving Ōtsutsuki Uzuki couldn't help but twitch her lips—this green dragon had endured countless hardships to reach the moon, traveled vast distances to find the entrance to the world's core, and now came before her just to ask about family lineage?
Over these thousand years, what had she overlooked? Everyone had become strange.
Under Ōtsutsuki Uzuki's guidance, Qianxi entered the final sealing ground; above her loomed a colossal artificial sun—far surpassing the artificial sun she had once seen with Young Yuanzi in the underground space.
Leaving aside the imitation powered by the Dragon Jade, which contained nothing but a blinding white light, merely the spatial folding and extension technology within this place was incalculably more advanced—especially as she floated beside Uzuki toward the central palace, Qianxi's gaze was drawn to a spot directly opposite: countless chains extending from the clouds, anchoring stone spheres, surrounded by a dense, crescent-shaped band of shattered rocks.
"Do you want to go see her?" Ōtsutsuki Uzuki continued walking ahead without turning, and under the full-spectrum Byakugan, Qianxi's turned head was unmistakable.
"No, I don't. If I go to see her, I might forever carry the burden of having lost completely." Qianxi wasn't sure why she'd truly come to the moon—she always paid close attention to anything involving Young Yuanzi—but in this strange emotional state, she chose to refuse.
A shadow flashed past, drowning out all of Qianxi's wandering thoughts.
"Pfft, I'm already an adult, hmph!"
Though Qianxi was a green dragon who had lived for ages, her personality was stubbornly non-indulgent in certain ways; the moment she remembered Sasaki, whom she hadn't seen in so long, her heart burned with longing, and all desire to linger on the moon vanished—she only wanted to finish quickly and return.
Soon, they entered the palace; Qianxi looked up and still saw a faint, smoke-like trail connecting the sealed stone spheres to the brilliant white sphere at the palace's heart.
"What the hell is this?" The scene was eerie; Qianxi instinctively felt the glowing white sphere was no good thing—yet Uzuki remained as impassive as ever.
Alert, Qianxi's attention was drawn to a faint sound from behind a shadowed pillar nearby; reflexively, she opened her mouth to warn—then remembered where she was. Indeed, as Uzuki gently waved toward the spot, a young boy crept out cautiously.
"Great-grandmother," the boy asked, trembling slightly, as if sensing the pressure emanating from Qianxi.
"Do we have guests?"
"This is Shiren—a member of the clan guarding the seal on the moon." Ōtsutsuki Uzuki's tone lifted slightly; Qianxi could tell Uzuki was pleased—she must have adored this boy dearly. Yet hearing a child call a woman who looked twenty years old "Great-grandmother" triggered the same odd feeling Qianxi had when Genma met Young Yuanzi; thinking this, she relaxed a little.
But as the boy fully stepped out of the shadows, Qianxi frowned again—Shiren's eye sockets were hollow; he had no eyes.
"For a thousand years, even under the harshest conditions, the Ōtsutsuki clan on the moon has endured—but at what cost?" Ōtsutsuki murmured, stepping beside the eerie glowing white sphere; her Byakugan grew sharper, radiating a pale cyan glow. Qianxi watched, thinking that if Uzuki's pupils were vertical, they'd resemble those of a fully dragon-transformed Young Yuanzi.
Qianxi made a "hold on" gesture; when Uzuki paused, she immediately asked: "You mean 'return to the beginning'… What exactly is Ōtsutsuki Yuyi planning? One moment she'd abandon even the world's mother, the next she talks about timing to crash the moon down—even though I've never met the so-called Six Paths Sage, I've already labeled her as mentally ill, and severely so."
"Mother's divine realm still exists. When the time comes, we'll retreat into the stasis space, then, once all has settled, activate the Tenseigan to erase the world's scars."
A rare self-deprecating smile appeared on Ōtsutsuki Uzuki's face as she continued.
"Then all this karma can end." Qianxi suddenly felt grateful she'd come to the moon—better to hear this apocalyptic news now than to wake one day to the moon crashing down. She couldn't help adding bitterly, "What kind of timing counts as the perfect timing?"
