Chapter 40: Another demon, red-haired, has arrived
Qin Feng had long sensed an extremely strong hidden aura here, with power fluctuations similar to those of a cat-eared girl, and his body concealed terrifying blood energy.
He immediately determined that this was a demon.
Unable to match a Grandmaster, he thought of diverting disaster eastward.
He hadn't expected it to be a rabbit.
"Despicable humans!" the rabbit-eared girl shouted, also blocking the attack, but then suddenly turned to face the pursuing Grandmaster Fan.
This one gave her a feeling of extreme danger.
"A rabbit demon?" Grandmaster Fan startled, instinctively lashed out; a shake of his sword sent several sword qi strikes, blocking all of the rabbit-eared girl's retreat.
This rabbit demon was also formidable, dodging the attack with leaps and bounds while waving both hands, a slash in the air as if tearing space, sending forth sharp energy waves.
Grandmaster Fan's brows jumped wildly; he easily dodged the attack, but his gaze turned to the depths of the small grove.
The rabbit demon narrowed its eyes, seeming to understand, then turned and fled.
The direction was exactly where Qin Feng was heading.
"Die, demon!" Grandmaster Fan immediately gave chase.
Having just stopped to sit and watch a dragon-tiger clash, he discovered both of them running toward this spot, and Qin Feng's face changed.
"Damn, these two rabbit-badgers are truly not good people!"
He shouted angrily, then turned and fled again.
Yet in his perception, the rabbit demon's speed had reached the extreme.
Faster than Grandmaster Fan.
"Carefree Cloud-Pushing Palm!" Qin Feng suddenly turned, unleashing seven or eight palms in succession; the howling palm energy sealed off the front, whereupon he turned and left.
The mountain wasn't high, and in the blink of an eye he reached the summit.
Looking back, he saw the two of them also pursuing him separately.
"Fan Clan Grandmaster, you actually teamed up with demons—could it be that your Fan Clan truly colludes with demons, betraying humanity and becoming a traitor?" Qin Feng suddenly bellowed; the vibrating mountain rang with a 'humming' sound, and many rocks rolled down.
Grandmaster Fan's steps halted, his eyes narrowed, killing intent flashing, yet he launched an attack at the rabbit demon while shouting angrily: "My Fan Clan will never coexist with demons—demon, die!"
The rabbit demon ahead hastily dodged.
Qin Feng knew this wasn't a solution; he swiftly scanned his surroundings, then suddenly startled.
He saw mist rising in the mountain valley.
It was just mist, although not yet thick.
Even though it was winter, it was noon—how could mist form?
His gaze sharpened; he saw a plume of dust rushing rapidly from the direction of the village.
It was Qin Kai.
Suddenly, Qin Feng sensed a terrifying killing intent; looking up, he saw a huge flying creature appear in the sky.
"A bird-person?"
The next moment he widened his eyes.
Bird beak, pointed head, human torso, with feathers growing on its back that glowed golden in the sunlight.
The creature also looked at him, grinned, and dove down.
Faster than an arrow.
"I'm doomed!" Qin Feng showed a hint of complex emotion.
The rabbit demon was already strong.
But this demon's internal power was even more terrifying than the rabbit demon's.
"Really? Two great demons comparable to Grandmaster-level experts have actually appeared!"
Adding Grandmaster Fan, at that moment his heart sank to the valley's depths, yet he suddenly leapt from the mountain peak, slamming his palms against the rock to use the rebound to slow his descent.
Upon landing, he was at the mountainside midway.
Having just steadied himself, a fierce wind howled above his head.
"Go die!" Qin Feng suddenly turned, leapt up, and released all his accumulated power through an inch punch to meet the bird demon.
The demon beast reacted swiftly, flipping its palm to slap toward the fist.
Pa—...
Like a muffled thunder exploding, the force shook, shattering the nearby rocks.
Qin Feng then felt a powerful force transmitted, involuntarily flying backward, and he saw the bird demon also flip upward.
Their forces were evenly matched.
"A mere Ninth Rank human actually possesses such terrifying power—do you have our bloodline in your body?" The bird demon quickly steadied, voiced the question, then curled its wings, light flowing as if absorbing sunlight, and dove down again, even faster.
Qin Feng was in midair, falling toward the mountain base.
Watching the bird demon draw nearer, his heart turned to ash; he had thought that strike would severely wound the opponent, but it had no effect at all.
His thoughts raced, and he revealed a ferocious expression.
Just as he was about to unleash everything, he saw a sword qi tear through the sky, a crescent moon rising, forcing the bird demon back.
In the distance, a figure sped over.
It was the masked woman who had previously watched the battle; in an instant she arrived here.
"Another Grandmaster!" the bird demon's eyes flashed with ferocity; it violently flapped its wings, stirring up gusts, and also shot out several feather-blades, as if turning into streaming light aimed at Qin Feng.
The masked woman leapt into midair, able only to snipe the bird demon, yet could not block the flying feathers.
"Be careful!" the woman's voice was exceptionally clear and pleasant; after the warning, she suddenly erupted.
Sword qi enveloped the heavens.
Here.
Qin Feng's heart jolted, and his sense was stimulated to the maximum.
"Carefree Cloud-Pushing Palm!"
He flung his palms to block the attack, but the flying feather was too fast—he sensed it yet couldn't block it.
Besides, he was still in mid-air.
Pfft…
A golden feather pierced his defense, striking his shoulder, tearing the skin, ripping the muscle, embedding in the bone, almost shooting through.
He too was flung backward, landing at the foot of the mountain.
Here the mist grew denser, hazy and obscure, and Qin Feng saw the masked woman's outer garments shatter, revealing a fiery red attire.
Like blazing flames, it could rival the sun.
"That's the woman from that night!"
Qin Feng realized, but saw the rabbit demon already there, fighting the red-clad woman, while the bird demon clashed once with Fan Grand Master, both heading down the mountain.
"Damn it!"
He couldn't help but curse.
His gaze shifted, and he headed toward the ancestral tomb.
Qin Kai was also rushing toward the ancestral tomb.
He could only gamble on it.
The dripping blood seeped into the soil and vanished instantly, while the mist seemed to boil, surging upward and enveloping the mountain's base, quickly spreading.
Qin Feng felt a chill seep into his bones, an inexplicable unease.
"This mist…"
His steps halted, and the unease intensified.
With his eyesight, in that short moment he couldn't see beyond ten meters.
But two powerful auras behind him drew nearer, seemingly also sensing something amiss, and they slightly slowed their speed.
He glanced back, then turned and left.
He had no choice.
Qin Feng quickly arrived at the ancestral grounds; the mist roiled there, the cold intensifying, and he immediately saw that Qin Kai had already arrived.
"Family Head!" Qin Kai was anxious and uneasy; upon seeing Qin Feng, he couldn't help but feel glad and hurried forward.
The horse he had ridden lay collapsed on the ground, trembling and continually whimpering.
"You brought it?" Qin Feng asked quickly.
"I brought it!" Qin Kai said, handing over a bag, "Everything's inside."
"Good!" Qin Feng was excited, yet extremely apprehensive.
If it didn't work, it would be disastrous.
The moment he took the bag, he burst into joy.
But at that moment, from the ancestral tomb beside him, the earth split open and a withered hand, dry as twine yet covered in red hair, reached out.
Seeking support!
