Chapter 161: Wish Come True
The little snake was very lively, its tail constantly coiling and uncoiling.
It raised its flat head, and its tongue licked Su Mian's cheek.
Su Mian dodged subconsciously, but the little snake didn't persist; it kept crawling around her arm, seeming very happy.
"This Mountain God... could it be you?"
Su Mian tapped the little snake's head with her fingertip. Although the paint on the snake tail in the lotus throne was peeling, it was the same color as the little snake.
Its entire body was pitch black, yet it reflected colorful fluorescence—the legendary "colorful black."
She immediately associated it with Si Shi. Come to think of it, Si Shi's tail was also like this, and the texture was very similar, so Su Mian's gaze as she stared at the little snake became increasingly suspicious.
In the previous instance, the one before that, and the one before that, Su Mian had almost failed to recognize Si Shi; it might really be him.
So, Su Mian had 4399 pull up the DM data for this instance. She took a look, and sure enough, it was Si Shi, but his identity this time was actually a high-ranking official within the system, who just happened to be in the countryside for research when Li Meili was getting married.
This dispelled Su Mian's doubts once more.
The little snake was the grandfather's pet and should logically be an NPC; it didn't match up at all.
Just as she intended to retreat, her whole body suddenly went limp. A bell rang in her ears, her head grew dizzy, and she fell straight backward.
A pair of slender hands wrapped around the girl's shoulders, and the snake tail took the opportunity to coil around and restrain her.
The former wolf-tail hair had turned into long hair, brushing against the girl's cheek. Su Mian felt a bit itchy and frowned in her sleep.
Si Shi sighed and muttered, "Why did you come looking for me at a time like this..."
He wanted to send her back, but felt reluctant. The girl was clearly familiar with his scent, and even though her consciousness was unclear, she didn't struggle.
She only pressed the snake tail down and let out two soft hums, indicating she couldn't quite catch her breath.
How could Si Shi stand her being like this? He greedily stuck out his tongue and licked her rosy face.
The massive snake tail lifted Su Mian up. Her whole body was sprawled on top of it, and with her hands having lost their support, she could only hug the tail.
Her cheek felt itchy from the licking, so she hugged the "seven-inch" spot and rubbed against it. Si Shi stiffened abruptly.
He swallowed hard and wanted to pick her up, only to find that the girl was hugging the tail and wouldn't let go at all. In her unconscious state, Su Mian had no sense of security.
Si Shi chuckled, feeling somewhat helpless. His eyes were already stained with desire, but he had no choice.
He was the one who had knocked her unconscious; was it too immoral to do such things while she was asleep?
That was what he thought, but Su Mian was not restless at all. She suddenly kissed his scales and mumbled something.
Si Shi heard it clearly; she was calling "A Si."
In her dream, Su Mian saw Si Shi give her a scale. She was very happy, smiling as she put it in her mouth to bite it, but upon discovering it wasn't gold, she flew into a rage.
Si Shi cried and apologized, saying he would only give her gold ones in the future. Su Mian nodded with satisfaction and said she forgave him.
Dreams are always inexplicable. Anyway, every time Su Mian thought of this dream after waking up, the corners of her mouth would lift; it was so absurd that she found it very funny.
And Su Mian, lost in her dream, had no idea that this bite made the snake even more restless.
He cursed under his breath, the tip of his tail curling into a ball, beads of sweat appearing on his forehead, yet he could only hope her mouth would move again.
After waiting for a few seconds with no movement at all, Si Shi's eyes darkened slightly. He grabbed the skin on the back of the girl's neck, lifted her up, and then used his tail to rub against Su Mian's body.
He let out a few suppressed gasps. The girl's voice rose and fell, and the strange friction made her frown and mumble again.
"If it's not gold, don't touch me..."
Si Shi only heard the words "don't touch me." His body stiffened, he lowered his eyes in grievance, wrapped the girl in his arms, and stopped moving.
In the distance came the sound of dry branches and rotten leaves being crushed. Si Shi's ear tips twitched, and his eyes darkened.
Mao Rongjun walked at the very front, wearing a long gown that was washed white but ironed perfectly, his steps steady.
Two fellow villagers followed behind him, one of whom, surnamed Zhou, talked the most, his mouth never stopping for a moment.
"You have to say you're a lucky man. That girl Li Meili, I've seen her; she's as fair as a peeled egg, her eyes are bright, and she's quiet. The baby she bears for you in the future will surely be smart."
Mao Rongjun smiled, being humble with his words: "I haven't officially met her yet; it's all decided by our parents."
But he didn't think so in his heart. How could a rural woman like Li Meili be worthy of him? Even if she was pretty, could she be prettier than those girls in the city?
But those in the city had no taste and didn't look down on him. Compared to them, Li Meili's conditions were quite good and she was smart, so he reluctantly agreed.
Deep in the bamboo forest, the Mountain God Temple with its peeling red paint was revealed in the mist, casting deep shadows.
Taking out the red ribbon his father had prepared, Mao Rongjun picked up a brush to write, his strokes quite decent.
He felt a bit of disdain; the villagers were just superstitious. Could writing "may you have many sons" really make it happen?
He didn't believe it anyway; it was better to rely on himself. Thinking of this, he began to let his imagination run wild.
Mao Rongjun put down the brush.
May you have many sons.
He glanced at the Mountain God Temple, which only revealed a corner, didn't think much of it, stood under the tree, and stood on tiptoe to tie it high up.
Mao Rongjun stood sideways. The boy surnamed Zhou stared at him and teased, "You've gained quite a bit of weight after this trip to the city."
Mao Rongjun finished tying the prayer ribbon and frowned upon hearing his words.
He was running around all day, starving until he was sallow and thin; what did he mean by gaining weight?
"You're wrong there; where did I gain weight?"
He turned his head, only to see the two men's expressions becoming increasingly strange. Mao Rongjun only felt a tightness in his abdomen, as if something was bulging inside.
That belly was visibly bulging under his clothes, as if someone were blowing air into it from the inside—once, twice—stretching the fabric tight. Only then did he realize something was wrong.
"You... you are..." The partner surnamed Zhou's voice trembled, and he subconsciously took a step back.
"Brother, Brother Mao..." The other person had already started shaking. "Something's wrong, this is wrong, let's go..."
"I, I can't walk... come and support me."
Mao Rongjun gritted his teeth. Fear drained all the color from his face. His belly was getting heavier and heavier, making him about to collapse.
The two men were about to go over to support him when a muffled sound exploded from Mao Rongjun's abdomen.
It was like a ripe melon being burst open from the inside.
Flesh and blood mixed with white stuff sprayed out violently. The red ribbon was stained wet and fell to the ground with a *plop*.
Mao Rongjun's body stiffened, his mouth agape, but he couldn't make a sound again, and he fell forward.
"Mommy, mommy, ahhhhhhh!!!"
The partner surnamed Zhou was splattered all over his face, his mind a blank. He opened his mouth to scream, his legs too weak to stand. Everything went black before his eyes, and he collapsed straight to the ground.
The other person was just about to run when he suddenly fell into a deep sleep.
The bamboo forest quieted down. The man walked out from the shadows, his long hair hanging down. He stood beside the two bodies, his expression gentle, even elegant.
He bent down, picked up the paper stained with blood, and gently rubbed the words on it with his fingertips.
"May you have many sons..."
He murmured, chuckled, crumpled the paper, and let the fragments fall from between his fingers.
"Congratulations, your wish has come true." ===== CHAPTER 162 =====
