Chapter 20: Acting Like a Spoiled Child

~7 min read 1,390 words

Su Mian was just worrying about not finding anyone when she bumped into Yu Maomao head-on.

She gritted her teeth, looking like she wanted to strangle her, and raised her hand to slap her, but Su Mian grabbed it.

"You lunatic! Murderer! Give him back to me... wuwuwu..."

Yu Maomao was crying her eyes out. Su Mian shook off her hand, seeing the other two behind her also catching up.

Wang Zhe was bent over, exhausted. Wen Zirui arrived late, but when he saw the tulle skirt in her hand, he paused violently.

Su Mian naturally noticed this action. She slapped the tulle skirt onto the ground and took out the drawing she had found at the bottom of the well.

"I thought for a long time and couldn't figure out why you would regret it."

Her eyes looked toward Wen Zirui. The other two were stunned, confused by these sudden words.

"But now, I understand."

"The old woman's eyes, you dug them out, didn't you?"

The look in Wen Zirui's eyes beneath his bangs changed, his hands clenching into fists.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

"Is that so?"

"Then how do you explain this dress? Why were all of Guan Xiaoxiao's things burned, but only one tulle skirt remained? Why was Le Zhi wearing boys' formal wear at her own farewell party? Was it because she was kind and swapped with you, who loves wearing women's clothing, is that right?"

Su Mian pressed step by step. Wen Zirui gritted his teeth, "You are the murderer, Mi Guo. Even if your mouth is sharp, you can't deny the facts."

His gaze looked elsewhere, saying intentionally or unintentionally, "Besides, Lin Xiaofan is already dead."

This sentence was like dropping a huge rock.

Yu Maomao immediately wailed, tears mixed with resentment. She pointed hysterically at Su Mian: "You're the murderer! You're Yu Tong! You killed him! You evil ghost!"

The crying echoed in the air. The atmosphere was one-sidedly on Wen Zirui's side. He even breathed a sigh of relief, his mouth almost curling up.

But just at this moment, his peripheral vision caught Su Mian laughing softly.

That laughter was faint, like strings lightly brushed in the wind, yet it made people's spines chill.

She slowly lifted her eyes, her voice soft yet ruthless.

"Xu Yiyi, the most wrong decision you made was wanting to kill me."

Light and shadow fell through the branches and leaves, the mottled tree shadows wandering across her face, making her look so beautiful she didn't seem like a mortal.

But as the light suddenly expanded, almost her entire body was shrouded in dazzling radiance; she looked like a statue about to spontaneously combust.

Wen Zirui realized what she wanted to do. He widened his eyes in disbelief.

Wang Zhe exclaimed, "Mi Guo!!! Fire!!!"

"Ahhhhhhh!!!"

Yu Maomao screamed and retreated, the firelight reflected in her pupils.

Su Mian's skirt was lit up by the firelight at an extremely fast speed, burning without warning. Just when everyone thought she would be burned to ashes by the big fire,

The girl opened her arms and fell straight backward.

With a "splash," she fell into the water. The flames danced in mid-air and then suddenly extinguished.

Complete silence, only the ripples on the water surface remained.

Wen Zirui took a few steps back, sitting on the ground with unsteady steps.

He didn't expect it, he really didn't find it, that Su Mian could go to such lengths to prove he was the murderer.

He wanted to kill her, but he didn't expect the only variable to be Zhou Yichen.

If Zhou Yichen hadn't died, Yu Maomao would never have made such a big commotion, and Su Mian, the only one who could discover the truth, would have died silently.

Everything was accidental, but why, when connected, did he still fail in the end?

Xu Yiyi hung his head in a daze, his fingernails sinking into the lawn.

Before everyone could react, a black shadow flashed across the water, picked up the girl who had fallen into the water, and covered her entire body with a suit jacket.

He glanced at the three of them sideways. Yu Maomao was so scared she immediately shut her mouth, not even daring to cry out loud.

But the DM seemed to just glance casually, and in the blink of an eye, he disappeared from everyone's field of vision.

After leaving the crowd, Su Mian coughed violently, and a large palm patted her back lightly.

"There should be a limit to showing off, my child."

Su Mian's ears were soaked by the water, and she couldn't hear what he was saying at all. Wet hair strands stuck to her cheeks, and water droplets fell one by one along her chin.

Her weak gaze carried a bit of confusion and fatigue. She closed her eyes somewhat tiredly.

She didn't know how much time had passed before she was gently put down again.

In a daze, she saw him take off his gloves in her line of sight and place his hand on her forehead.

So cool.

Compared to her scorching forehead, it was bone-chillingly cold.

However... it was quite comfortable.

The DM watched Su Mian, who wouldn't let go of his hand, and fell into endless silence.

Not letting go was one thing, but she even used his hand as an ice pack, rubbing it randomly on her face, the flesh of her cheeks squeezed into a lump by the large palm.

Not quite the same as his own face, the DM thought.

This face was very white, very soft; as long as he wanted, he could mold it into any shape, and the expressions it made also made people feel a desire to humiliate.

Especially when splattered with blood.

Helplessness and astonishment, trembling and panic.

It was simply the ultimate beauty.

Not until those bright red lips pressed against his palm did the DM suddenly come to his senses and withdraw his hand.

"Burned your brain?"

He chuckled, his tone no longer hiding anything, completely devoid of the gentleness when he was the "Dean," but instead willful, carrying a hint of elusive, perverse humor and excitement.

"Su Mian... the game is about to end."

He leaned over, his tone light and slow yet dangerous.

"You are too much to my taste. Stay and keep me company, okay?"

His knuckles curled, wandering over the girl's neck.

The person before him trembled for a moment, her brows furrowing.

Just as the palm was about to wrap around her, the DM felt the girl throw herself onto him, the moist, hot air licking his earlobe.

"Mom..."

?

Su Mian murmured softly, her tone carrying a hint of acting like a spoiled child.

"I won't drink the medicine..."

The DM was stunned. He tried to push the girl away.

But she clung to him again, even hugging him tighter. The fruity scent was like a catalyst, making the atmosphere even more scorching and ambiguous.

Those lips landed on the cold mask. The man's breathing quickened for a moment. He grabbed Su Mian by the collar and placed her on the bed.

"Tsk."

He exhaled deeply, looking down at her from above. The suit jacket was wrinkled by the girl's grip, still retaining heat.

Again, this.

He had always been accustomed to controlling the situation, accustomed to acting according to his own will.

If things deviated from the predetermined track, he would clear out those who didn't cooperate without hesitation.

Trouble was the thing he hated most.

As for the calculations and struggles between players, he had never taken them to heart; they were just childish tricks, both despicable and boring.

But Su Mian's appearance made him break the rules again and again.

Staring at the girl's sleeping figure for a while.

The DM picked up the gloves on the nightstand, put them on, and turned to disappear from the medical room.

––

When she opened her eyes again, it was pitch black outside the window. Su Mian slowly propped up her body, a needle still inserted in her hand.

She lifted her hand to look, suddenly discovering someone slumped by the bed.

Wang Zhe woke up with a start. He rubbed his eyes and sat up, "You're awake, how do you feel?" ===== CHAPTER 21 =====
