Chapter 35: One Chasing, One Fleeing
Two vast forces collided, stirring up a wave of air that knocked the Weird subordinates to the ground, suppressing the supernatural power within their bodies so they could not move.
Crack!
The Ghost Domain shattered like a mirror, breaking into pieces.
This was not to say that the Ghost Domain could not withstand the collision of these two forces. Rather, it was because the master of the Ghost Domain, that Laogui, had been sent flying by a punch from Li Heng, flying right out of the Ghost Domain and crashing into the wall of a nearby shop.
The clean wall, which had not a trace of moss, developed shocking cracks like a spiderweb. It made one wonder if the entire wall would collapse at the slightest touch.
Laogui's form was disheveled; he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, which contained several fragments of internal organs, and his heart was filled with horror.
This Demon Exorcist was clearly not in the True Qi Realm, so why was he still so strong? After his body had been eroded by his yin energy, how did he still have the ability to fight him head-on and beat him into such a state?
His injuries were now extremely severe; one could say he had almost lost half his life. If not for the fact that the cultivation technique he practiced was quite mysterious, leaving him in a state of being half-human and half-Weird, he would have fainted long ago.
Laogui felt incomparably fortunate in his heart.
Fortunately, he had been a bit cautious and kept a sliver of power to protect himself. If he hadn't had that sliver of defensive power, he did not doubt for a second that he would have been killed by that punch!
Li Heng stepped one foot out of the shattered Ghost Domain.
Laogui's expression changed instantly.
No, he could not stay here any longer! He had to run, even if it meant risking his life. In his current injured state, he had no ability to fight this Demon Exorcist; it would only lead to a dead end.
He gritted his teeth, circulated a Secret Technique, and temporarily suppressed the injuries in his body. Then, he stood up quickly and fled for his life.
He didn't even have time to put away his own Puppets.
Li Heng watched Laogui flee, a faint smile on his face. "Run, can you really escape? You were already locked onto by my Ten Thousand Mile Soul-Chasing lock; even if you flee to the ends of the earth, I will be able to find you."
He sighed slightly in his heart; this Weird was still too cautious after all. His punch, delivered with all his might, hadn't actually killed it completely. Was this what a True Qi Realm Weird was like?
However, this result could be considered good.
Although he had the ability to injure and even kill someone in the True Qi Realm, he had to be able to hit them first. If he hadn't put on an act to make this Weird lower its guard...
... given the elusive teleportation within the Ghost Domain...
... it would have been very difficult for him to do anything to the opponent.
"So, Steward Wang, did you come here to assist me and help me capture and kill the Weird?" Li Heng looked at the grim-faced Steward Wang ahead and smiled faintly.
Steward Wang's expression was gloomy to the extreme, dark as a storm cloud.
He had not expected that Laogui, as a dignified True Qi Realm expert, would be defeated so quickly, and in such a crushing manner; it was far beyond his expectations.
According to his original imagination...
... if the Ghost Domain had not been broken, this Demon Exorcist would have been worn down to death by Laogui, without them needing to intervene. If the Ghost Domain were broken, then surely it would only mean Laogui had temporarily fallen into a disadvantage, or that the Demon Exorcist wanted to escape.
Then, their large group would have swarmed the Demon Exorcist together to deliver the final blow.
But now, everything was over.
Laogui had been directly and forcefully crushed and defeated, and was even fleeing in fear. Then there was no point in them being here anymore; they would only meet the same fate as Laogui.
"Attack!" Steward Wang signaled for those sturdy men to swarm forward, then his figure flashed, and he quickly ran away.
This matter had already spiraled out of control.
He had to find the Second Young Master and ask the Second Young Master to take action!
These men were all martial artists, and a few of them were even in the Foundation Establishment Realm. Unfortunately, to Li Heng, they were nothing more than small fry, and he knocked them down in short order.
He also crippled their cultivation, leaving them to spend the rest of their lives as invalids lying in bed. After all, he was an official; it was never good to defy the laws of Great Li and kill people in the street.
Clapping his hands, he looked again at the Weird subordinates who were already lying on the ground, unable to move. With a thought, the Yang Fire Seed that had been hidden in the corpse of Cao Hong erupted instantly, burning the Weird subordinates until not even ashes remained.
Source Power +60!
Li Heng felt a sense of realization: for a Foundation Establishment Realm Weird, is it generally ten points of Source Power each? That's not bad.
His Source Power reserves had reached 80 points. He was a little closer to manifesting the Great Sun Dharma Image. Thinking about it again, he pursued in the direction where Steward Wang had fled.
Steward Wang did not care about his own disheveled state, speeding through the Sanshan Gathering and fleeing outside of it.
Li Heng followed Steward Wang's trail, surprised in his heart. He had thought this Steward Wang would flee toward the Feiyun Chamber of Commerce. He had not expected him to be fleeing outside the gathering.
Running into the mountains?
An ambush? Panicked and lost? Looking for reinforcements?
Interesting; perhaps he really could see the mastermind behind the scenes.
Steward Wang also sensed Li Heng's tracking and became even more anxious. Could those dozen or so people not hold him off for long?
He gritted his teeth and used a Secret Technique.
The Rune on his wrist flickered, and yin energy permeated his surroundings, like an evil ghost. His speed increased, the surroundings blurred in an instant, and he left the surrounding objects behind.
But no matter how he increased his speed...
... Li Heng was still following far behind him, unable to be shaken off. At this moment, this Steward Wang, who looked like an evil ghost, was instead the one acting like a normal person being hunted by an evil ghost.
Fleeing out of the Sanshan Gathering, the vegetation gradually became dense, and poisonous creatures like spiders and centipedes appeared in the grass from time to time, causing the grass to rustle slightly; they had already gone deep into the wilderness.
Li Heng was somewhat surprised.
Because the direction in which this Steward Wang was fleeing was surprisingly consistent with the direction in which that Weird had fled.
Then he was even less in a hurry; he could kill two birds with one stone.
Moreover, he discovered that the yin energy here was denser than elsewhere. Spiders, centipedes, and other poisonous creatures liked yin, so it was no wonder there were so many poisonous things here.
These phenomena made him even more curious.
As the time spent fleeing dragged on, Steward Wang's panicked heart finally calmed down slightly, and he realized something was wrong.
This Demon Exorcist could clearly have caught up and intercepted him, but now he was just following him from afar. Could it be that he wanted to use him to find where the Second Young Master was?
No, he absolutely could not let him succeed; the Second Young Master might still be performing the ritual and could not be disturbed by outsiders!
This thought rose in his heart, and he stopped his footsteps instantly; Li Heng also caught up very quickly.
"Oh? You're not running anymore?"
Li Heng raised his eyebrows and said faintly.
"I have no grudge or enmity with you, why are you hunting me down?" Steward Wang said, eyes open while telling a lie, attempting to stall for time.
"It seems you are stalling for time."
Li Heng shook his head, his figure flashed, and he arrived before Steward Wang, then threw a punch directly downward.
This punch carried a fierce gale of force; for someone of Steward Wang's realm, a graze meant injury, and contact meant death.
Steward Wang was currently enveloped in Yin energy, looking more like an evil ghost than a human, so Li Heng did not hold back. Things tainted by the Weird are better off beaten to death.
At the critical moment, the Rune on Steward Wang's wrist suddenly erupted with a massive amount of Yin energy, like a natural gas well gushing, and rushed toward Li Heng.
