Chapter 59: Scene Replay
An Village.
The old village chief looked toward the direction of Jing Village, his face showing worry; why hadn't that young man returned yet?
A sense of regret could not help but rise in his heart.
If he had known, he wouldn't have told that young man the location of Jing Village out of spite; it was already dusk, and night would fall in a little while. But that young man still hadn't returned...
His heart was filled with melancholy.
It seemed that young man was in more danger than safety.
"Don't come over here!"
In Jing Village, those villagers were scrambling to escape, as if there were some Great Terror behind them, like a bully entering the village; one could say they were practically wetting themselves in fear.
A ball of fire flew into a house, and in almost just the time it took to draw a breath, the house was set ablaze, then instantly turned to ashes, along with the villagers inside.
As the villain of the piece, Li Heng was currently calm and composed.
He manifested his Great Sun Dharma Image, and after the light shone upon this place, those villagers dared not approach him at all; those who tried to get close were reduced to ashes by the radiance of the Great Sun Dharma Image before they had even taken a few steps.
These Weirds certainly put on a good act.
Li Heng evaluated them thus.
If it weren't for the fact that in his Heavenly Eye, these villagers were each like evil spirits and Weirds, filled with Yin energy and exuding a sense of malice, he really wouldn't have found it easy to strike.
He threw a punch.
Carrying an invisible impact force, it directly smashed the wooden house in front of Li Heng; shattered planks and wood chips flew out, kicking up clouds of dust.
He walked out from the dust, only to see quite a few Jing Village villagers gathered ahead, or perhaps, should he call them the Weirds of Jing Village?
There were about fifty or so of them, all young and strong, holding refined steel blades, their expressions unkind.
Li Heng raised an eyebrow, his face showing interest.
It seemed this Ghost Village was finally going to fight back?
"You damned outsider, to actually turn our village into this, you simply deserve to die!" the leading young man spoke viciously, appearing to be the leader of the group.
"It's fine, it's fine, it was already a ruin anyway. What I'm doing now is just letting it return to its original state." Li Heng smiled lightly, and a wisp of Sun True Fire flew out.
The expressions of this group changed, and they hurriedly dodged.
Although this wisp of Sun True Fire was not exactly fast, it could not be called slow either. It directly struck an unlucky soul who couldn't dodge in time, instantly burning them to ashes.
However, they seemed to be fearless of death.
Seeing their companion burned to ashes, their eyes became even more ferocious, and they charged toward Li Heng holding their steel blades, seemingly wanting to hack him into eight pieces.
Four pieces for meat filling, four pieces for cured meat.
Li Heng was somewhat surprised.
He was still maintaining the manifestation of his Great Sun Dharma Image. These Weirds had entered the illumination range of his Great Sun Dharma Image, yet they hadn't been reduced to ashes; their momentum had merely weakened.
Did they look like fifty-some individuals, but were actually a single entity? Upon realizing this, Li Heng saw the truth at a glance. In the state of Heavenly Eye Visualization, the auras of these fifty-some Weirds were all connected, sharing the same branches and roots.
Incredible, even Weirds understand the power of unity.
Li Heng shook his head.
"Little Weirds that do not belong to the human world, you have tried your best."
He spoke faintly, then his thoughts stirred, and the Great Sun Dharma Image above his head shook, blooming with even more blinding radiance, as if a lightbulb with a higher wattage had been swapped in.
Instantly, the group of Weirds still charging at Li Heng were reduced to ashes in this incomparably dazzling light.
After exterminating these Weirds, Li Heng strolled through the village, looking for any that had slipped through the net. But it seemed these fifty-some Weirds were the strongest power of this Ghost Village. After this, Li Heng couldn't find a trace of any Weirds at all.
It was as if they had truly been swept clean by him.
Li Heng frowned; he was very clear that this was impossible. Because when he exterminated these Weirds just now, he hadn't gained a single bit of Source Power! This was enough to show that the matter was not simple.
As he wandered, Li Heng turned back to the village entrance.
It was now night.
The moon, which had been incomparably bright and casting its moonlight upon the earth, was covered by gloomy dark clouds, making this place become incomparably dark, as if it were a land without light.
The only light.
Was Li Heng's Great Sun Dharma Image.
However, this phenomenon only made Li Heng more certain that things would not end so simply; this Ghost Domain had not been broken yet!
He suddenly frowned.
The concentration of Yin energy in the surroundings had risen again!
Just now, he had kept his Great Sun Dharma Image active and circled the village a few times, having almost purified all the Yin energy in the village. But now, Yin energy had appeared again.
It seemed to be surging from an unfathomable realm, from the depths of hell...
The time of one breath arrived, and the Great Sun Dharma Image vanished.
Suddenly, the scenery before his eyes became blurry.
The Jing Village, which had been devastated by Li Heng until it was unrecognizable, instantly returned to its original state; the houses were intact, and the village was bustling with noise and excitement, one could say it was brightly lit.
Under the great banyan tree.
The same old men were still sitting there, chatting and laughing.
Li Heng raised an eyebrow; interesting.
Is this what one must face for breaking the rules?
He walked slowly to the base of the great banyan tree.
"Eh, who are you? You look unfamiliar; are you here to participate in tonight's festival? Then you have truly come at the right time."
These old men spoke, the same dialogue as before.
However, what was different from before was.
This time, the so-called festival had begun. This was also the reason why Jing Village was bustling with noise and brightly lit.
"The sacrificial ceremony has begun, so that's how it is."
Li Heng nodded.
"Go quickly, guest. Remember to bring a gift."
These elders said with a smile.
"Then my slaughter ceremony has also begun."
He said indifferently, manifesting the Great Sun Dharma Image once again.
Before long, Li Heng had stepped into the center of the village, where the ceremony was being held. He looked around, drawing his sword and gazing about with a bewildered heart. There was no help for it; this Jing Village had been swept clean by him once again.
The plot was no different from before.
At most, a new character had appeared: the Jing Village chief. He stood at the center of the ceremony, beckoning to Li Heng incessantly. Then, he was punched to death by Li Heng; he was very fragile.
But Li Heng still did not receive a single bit of Source Power.
The village, which had already been swept over by his Great Sun Dharma Image, surged with Yin Qi once more, increasing in concentration.
He frowned and retracted the still-active Great Sun Dharma Image early to avoid excessively exhausting his own strength and Original Qi.
Sure enough, the intact Jing Village appeared once again.
As the Great Sun Dharma Image manifested and he casually struck dead the reappearing Jing Village chief, ignoring the Weird villagers who were fleeing in all directions and screaming frantically, Li Heng began to ponder.
This shouldn't be.
Having been swept over by his Great Sun Dharma Image several times, it should have long been tainted with the intent to destroy demons and eliminate evil. By Reason, this place should have already been purified; why did this Ghost Village still exist?
Could it be... the key is not in this location?
But rather in that inexplicably appearing Yin Qi?
Perhaps he had purified this place repeatedly, but it would soon be infected by the newly surging Yin Qi and turn back into a Ghost Domain.
He considered this possibility, and the five points of Luck he possessed made him increasingly certain of it.
So it all relies on Yin Qi to resurrect, huh?
And here he thought he had hit the jackpot and encountered a "Strange" that contained rules, Li Heng sneered.
Lots of Yin Qi, big deal, playing god and acting like a ghost, are we?
He directly summoned his Shinto avatar inside. Let's see if there is more Yin Qi here, or if the Shinto avatar can absorb more!
