Chapter 650: The Scene of the Dao Lord's Fall

~8 min read 1,464 words

"Since that is the case, what do you intend to do?"

After thinking it over, Li Heng kicked the ball back; he wanted to see what this management hub, which came from the old era and was created by many a Dao Lord, could actually do to him.

In his perception, this management hub was faintly aligned with the Great Void; although it could not be regarded as the Great Void itself, it could be considered a part of it and could mobilize a considerable degree of Great Void Power, though the specific upper limit was unclear.

But there was no doubt that this management hub could threaten him.

Of course, it was only a threat.

The management hub remained silent.

It also did not know what to do. Ever since it was born, it had never encountered such a contradictory situation: on one hand, it was suppressed and rejected by the Great Void, while on the other, it was favored by the Great Void.

What on earth was this?

"You... can you tell me about things outside?"

The management hub changed the subject, seemingly no longer pursuing Li Heng, but instead asking him about the current situation of the Great Void.

Li Heng raised an eyebrow in surprise and spoke, "Aren't you the management hub of the Great Void? Could it be that you just woke up and are malfunctioning? If you want to know about the situation outside, can't you investigate it yourself?"

The management hub was silent for a moment, then replied.

"The reasons you mentioned are only one part of it; the most important reason is that after I fell into a deep sleep, I retracted all the arrangements connected to the outside Great Void, so for countless ages, I have had no way to monitor the changes in the Great Void."

"Then you could simply spread your arrangements back out."

Li Heng said calmly.

"This is not possible; times have changed. I am clear about my situation. I come from the old era and am not a product of this era; this era has no ship to carry me. Once I rashly appear in the outside Great Void, it is extremely easy to attract Inauspiciousness and Terror."

The management hub answered frankly.

Logically speaking, it should not have disclosed this information to Li Heng, a Primary Transcendent who was not under its control, but Li Heng bore the mark of the Great Void's favor, and as it previously belonged to the hub that managed the Great Void, it was faintly aligned with the Great Void and thus also received a portion of that influence; Li Heng's words carried great weight for it.

"Then do you know what that Inauspiciousness and Terror are?"

Li Heng asked.

"I do not know either, I only know very well that the reason I fell into an emergency slumber back then was because of this inexplicably appearing Inauspiciousness and Terror..." As it spoke, the tone of the management hub became melancholy, as if it were reminiscing about something, and it grew somewhat lost.

"It seems that at the very last moment of my slumber, I saw Dao Lords bleeding, blood spilling across the long sky, soul light scattering, bones and blood, war and fire—more than one Dao Lord fell!"

The management hub murmured, revealing a heaven-shaking secret. It was combing through its long-sealed memories and could not help but discover these images in the corners of its memory; the more it spoke, the more shocked it became itself.

"But how could this be? You must know that Dao Lords are invincible, truly supreme great figures who manage the entire Great Void; how could there be any external enemy capable of making them fall?"

It was lost, shocked, and confused, and the amount of information revealed therein also made Li Heng frown in thought.

"You say Dao Lords are invincible? I fear that is just a beauty filter in your heart. As a servant of the Dao Lords, you naturally feel that your true masters, the Dao Lords, are invincible. But you must think: since there are so many Dao Lords, there must be levels of superiority and inferiority, so how could they be invincible?"

Li Heng brought up combat power, somewhat "derailing" the conversation.

"You Primary Transcendent seem to be a new creation of a later era and do not know the greatness of the Dao Lords back then. Dao Lords are supreme; among them, no one could do anything to anyone else. Each one was a true protagonist. As long as one Dao Lord wished it, they could ensure that 'kings do not meet,' and could even rely on this form to dominate the entire Great Void."

"It is just that because the Great Void is truly special, doing so is a bit self-deceptive; it only counts as 'closing the small building to achieve unity,' making a dojo inside a snail shell."

The management hub retorted.

"Primary Transcendent, now is not the time to talk about this. I am now entrusting you with a task: can you help me uncover the truth behind the bleeding and fall of the Dao Lords back then?"

This object of the old era pleaded with Li Heng.

"Why should I help you? What benefit is there in it for me?"

Li Heng said calmly; he would not work for free.

"Primary Transcendent, you should know that even if I do not say it, you will certainly investigate this aspect, and you may even be forced to investigate it. I can feel that the outside of the Great Void is filled with Terror and Inauspiciousness; there is not a single place that is a pure, clean land."

"You must face these and resolve them. But with your strength as a Primary Transcendent, it is simply insufficient to resolve the current situation. You must investigate the old era, dig up the treasures of the old era, and even resurrect the various Dao Lords; only they have the ability to resolve it."

The management hub stated the current situation directly and laid its cards on the table.

"Interesting rhetoric, but you must know that you witnessed with your own eyes the Dao Lords you speak of bleeding and falling, their soul light scattering, their blood and bones scattered across the Great Void; they should be completely dead. Under these circumstances, you ask me to go and resurrect those Dao Lords and beg them to resolve it? That is truly ridiculous rhetoric."

Li Heng shook his head; this management hub was somewhat foolishly loyal.

"You do not understand. Dao Lords can be infinitely supreme, and they can also be infinitely weak. It is just that the Inauspiciousness and Terror came too quickly and too urgently back then; the Dao Lords may not have had time to react."

The management hub gave another reason, refuting him.

"Say what you will, but the reasons you have given are not enough to support me in searching for the so-called old era, let alone resurrecting Dao Lords. You must understand that the era is moving forward; the Dao Lords you speak of are not necessarily the strongest in this current era."

Li Heng shook his head; he was no fool.

If he had the spare time to search for traces of the old era, he might as well kill a few more Disasters and monsters to accumulate Source Power. As long as he had enough Source Power, he was confident he could kill through everything.

There was no need to resurrect Dao Lords; give him Source Power, and he would transcend.

The management hub fell silent abruptly.

If it were any other Primary Transcendent, it could have completely relied on the original Ancient Covenant to mobilize the power of the Great Void and suppress them. After all, the Dao Lords had given it such authority, and the Great Void had given it such power. Even though it had just awakened and its power was weak, it was confident it could have accomplished this.

But the Primary Transcendent before it was not ordinary; he possessed the favor of the Great Void. It had not seen such favor in many even among the Dao Lords, and it never expected that a Primary Transcendent walking the path of autonomous Transcendence would possess it now.

This was simply too unreasonable; what was the Great Void thinking?

Did the Great Void not even have a will?

With this favor of the Great Void, it, as the management hub of the Great Void, simply could not take action against him; forcibly mobilizing the power of the Great Void would only cause a backlash against itself.

Even, to a certain extent.

It still had to listen to what this Primary Transcendent said...
