Chapter 734: Restriction Lifted
"These visions are all the final futures of those King-level powerhouses who died by my hand. Can you see anyone among these futures who became a high-level Emperor, or even surpassed that?"
Li Heng laughed.
Zhongjie Daozhu frowned.
"I could manifest visions like these at will, but how do you prove this is their final future, rather than just one of their possibilities?"
"Then you are free to sense it yourself."
"Perhaps as you say, all sentient beings have meaning, making the final variables of sentient beings impossible for you to control. But as Dao Lords, you can still appraise the final variables and final possibilities, can you not?"
Li Heng spoke calmly.
"I think you..."
Zhongjie Daozhu spoke, wanting to say that Li Heng was too arrogant.
But before those three words could be uttered, he suddenly realized that these visions displayed, the final futures Li Heng spoke of, seemed truly a bit off?
Driven by doubt and curiosity, he began to use his remaining Dao Lord authority to perform an Appraisal. The result appeared in his mind instantly, leaving him frozen in place.
Because the information fed back to him by the result was exactly as Li Heng had said—they were all the final variables and final possibilities of these people!
But, why would it be like this?
Zhongjie Daozhu felt astonished in his heart.
Ever since meeting Li Heng, he had lost count of how many times he had been surprised. As the number of times increased, he had thought he had become numb, but now he had to be surprised once again.
This was simply inconceivable.
As an insider, he knew very well what the essence of making every individual sentient being meaningful was; this was already a very constant law, inscribed in the origin, participating in the basic operation of all logic.
Yet such a phenomenon, such a law.
Was now being broken?
Could someone really forcibly determine a final future?
"It seems you have already made your own judgment."
Li Heng smiled, full of confidence.
Source Power did not care what "all sentient beings have meaning" was. As long as there was enough Source Power, let alone observing the final futures of hundreds of thousands of people, even determining the final futures of all living beings in the Great Void would be easy.
"Fellow Daoist, what kind of method is this!"
Zhongjie Daozhu's expression was grave as he asked.
At this moment, he no longer held the slightest contempt for Li Heng, truly addressing him as a Fellow Daoist and engaging in discourse as an equal.
"Let us not mention the method for now. According to the current situation, this Zhanchang should belong to me, right!"
Li Heng said with a smile.
"Does Fellow Daoist truly want it?"
Zhongjie Daozhu asked in return.
"Then do you think this idea is real or fake? If you are truly reluctant, that is fine too; just cancel my kill quota."
Zhongjie Daozhu locked his brows tightly.
This Li Heng was truly very clever.
He knew very well that Li Heng could definitely obtain something from those living beings he killed, though he did not yet know exactly what it was. But without a doubt, these things were the reason the Zhanchang could attract Li Heng.
If he truly agreed to Li Heng's request and lifted the restriction on the kill quota, not only would a bloodbath be stirred up on the Zhanchang, but it would also lead to the complete removal of his implicit constraint on Li Heng.
It was hard to say what would happen then.
Moreover, under this condition, although the Zhanchang would still belong to him, it would actually belong to Li Heng as well. He would even have to bear the power consumption of the Zhanchang's operation, while Li Heng would not have to pay anything—a complete "empty-handed white wolf" scheme.
"Fellow Daoist is joking; how can one go back on their word? The Zhanchang should be given to you as promised. It is just that I am truly curious, what exactly is the method you just used? If Fellow Daoist could inform me a little, everything would be negotiable."
He also revealed his own conditions to Li Heng.
Although he was but a remnant spirit of a Dao Lord, he still possessed a few wisps of Dao Lord essence, and he was confident he could facilitate a deal or negotiation.
However, Li Heng's subsequent answer surprised him greatly.
"The method I used is something you cannot understand."
Li Heng shook his head.
"Why?"
"Has Fellow Daoist not already proven it?"
Zhongjie Daozhu was startled.
"Is Fellow Daoist Li referring to the power you brought out earlier?"
"If you think it is, then it is; if you think it is not, then it is not."
Li Heng was noncommittal, but Zhongjie Daozhu already had the answer in his heart. He was now increasingly suspicious and astonished; was that power, whose essence even he could not recognize, really that miraculous?
"How about this, I want to make a deal with Fellow Daoist."
"I want to trade for a strand of that power from you, and as a condition, I will lift your kill quota, gift half of the ownership of the Zhanchang to you, and I will bear the operational consumption of the Zhanchang alone. How about that?"
"Very well, deal."
Li Heng nodded readily and agreed to this matter.
His fundamental goal was not to get his hands on this Zhanchang, but to use this Zhanchang to attract powerhouses from various eras and use its chaotic battle characteristics to fish and harvest Source Power.
If it lacked this characteristic, the Zhanchang would be useless to him.
If he truly obtained this Zhanchang from Zhongjie Daozhu, it was unknown whether the Zhanchang would still possess this characteristic once it lost the support of the Dao Lord's power.
For instance, Zhongjie Daozhu could set up portals in various eras and broadcast the End Battlefield to them, telling them there was a great opportunity here to attract them.
But Li Heng did not have this ability—at least not yet.
After all, this was a broadcast at the level of the entire Great Void.
Since the End Battlefield would very likely be ruined in his hands, it was better not to take it from the start and just leave it to Zhongjie Daozhu to manage and operate, while he only needed to harvest the Source Power.
"Fellow Daoist, you certainly agreed quite readily."
Zhongjie Daozhu's words were profound and meaningful.
He felt he had suffered a bit of a loss. Originally, he had assumed such power would involve Li Heng's Great Dao essence, or some sort of trump card, and would not be handed over so easily; otherwise, he would not have offered such generous terms.
But now it seemed...
He cursed himself inwardly for having a muddled brain.
Why hadn't he learned how to haggle from those few fellows before?
However, since the wood was already carved into a boat, regret was useless. It was just the End Battlefield, not something of great importance. Conversely, losing face as a Dao Lord was the real issue.
Besides, if he could truly decipher the secrets from that power.
Then the situation would be completely reversed, and he would be the one making a massive profit.
To him, the End Battlefield was merely a useful tool.
"If you manage to decipher anything, Fellow Daoist, don't forget to let me know," Li Heng said, casually tossing a strand of Source Power to Zhongjie Daozhu; he had been so agreeable precisely because he harbored such thoughts.
"Easily done, easily done. From here on, I will not interfere with your affairs on the battlefield, but I hope you will hold fast to your original intent; all living beings have meaning, so do not slaughter them wantonly."
Zhongjie Daozhu seemed eager to begin his analysis, spoke a few more words to Li Heng, and his figure vanished instantly. Li Heng did not mind, however, and turned back to continue fishing and harvesting Source Power.
Until the final one hundred billion Golden Source Points were gathered...
