Chapter 770: Who is the Calamity
"Ridiculous, a thief crying 'stop thief'?"
Suming sneered, full of disdain.
"Oh? You might as well ponder this question: why didn't you step in to resolve the War Calamity just now, but instead waited on the sidelines without acting?"
Li Heng smiled.
"It was clearly you who told me not to act; how did it become me not wanting to act in your words? Truly ridiculous."
Suming responded with a sneer.
"No, no, no. Although I told you not to act, that was merely one side of the story. You could have completely chosen not to believe it and acted directly, but you didn't do that. Are you saying you trust me very much? That's impossible; after all, this is our first meeting."
Li Heng shook his head.
"Hmph, that's because in my eyes, you and that War Calamity are together, or perhaps you are the War Calamity! I didn't act and watched from the sidelines to avoid falling into a trap."
Suming crossed his arms over his chest.
"Then that is even stranger."
"If I were the War Calamity, you should have acted immediately, rather than setting up a seal around here, performing this act of locking the stable door after the horse has bolted—it is truly unwise."
Li Heng replied.
Suming furrowed his brows and spoke.
"Haven't I already answered this question? It was to prevent myself from falling into a trap; I don't think there is anything strange about that, it is completely reasonable."
"Is that what you think? But I have another thought."
"That is, you are actually also a Calamity or a monster, which is why you chose to watch from the sidelines. After all, you just said that you felt everything that happened was the War Calamity putting on a show, so naturally, you couldn't interfere in the affairs of another of your own kind."
Li Heng waved his hand, a smile playing on his lips.
"What kind of messy logic is that? Absurd!"
"I was merely choosing not to interfere in this matter for the sake of caution; how did it become that I am also a Calamity monster who doesn't want to interfere in the affairs of my own kind in your words?"
"Your reasoning is laughably far-fetched."
Suming laughed loudly.
"Perhaps, this reasoning is indeed far-fetched. But you still haven't figured out what has happened to yourself; that is even more pitiful, or are you deceiving yourself?"
Li Heng looked thoughtful.
"All nonsense. As expected, I shouldn't have expected to have a normal conversation with a Calamity. In the end, we shall see the truth through our actions!"
"Suming Great Array, rise!"
Suming shouted, and the array he had previously set up began to operate, evolving the Great Dao, Fate, Causality, Space-Time, and all existence. It operated according to his will, dictating the outcome, intending to trap Li Heng to death within this result, within Fate.
"All things are too free, and being too free is not a good thing; instead, it will lead to extreme Chaos, failing to form order, making it difficult for the World, civilization, and living beings to progress."
"Therefore, I have decided to abolish freedom and redefine Fate, letting everything in the Great Void operate according to my ideas, and I shall dictate the most perfect path for all living beings!"
Suming said while operating the array.
His gaze could not help but fall upon Li Heng, growing increasingly disgusted.
"Of course, this perfect path will only be granted to normal living beings, but for you Calamity monsters, I shall grant you the fate of falling into Eternal Silence, until the Eternal!"
The power of Fate operated within the array, locking the outcome.
Li Heng felt a strange sensation at this moment.
He felt like a tiny mortal living in the vast Heaven and Earth. And outside of himself was that endless, invisible, and intangible trend of Heaven and Earth.
These trends of Heaven and Earth appeared vast and magnificent, but in reality, they restricted living beings everywhere, dictating his every action in the dark, making him like a marionette, destined by Fate.
"Your Way of Fate is so evil, yet you say there is no problem?"
Li Heng shook his head and said.
"Truly a thief crying 'stop thief'? To deal with the likes of you Calamities and monsters, if it were not evil enough, how could I contend with you incomparably evil things?"
Suming responded, unimpressed.
"As a Calamity, fall into Eternal Silence."
He passed judgment on Li Heng, and the power of Fate transformed into invisible threads, wrapping around Li Heng. But the next moment, these threads of Fate snapped one by one.
"Still trying to resist? In the array, that is impossible!"
Suming sneered, and the power of Fate surged violently. Endless threads of Fate emerged, as if not to turn Li Heng into a marionette, but into a mummy.
"Who said it was impossible?"
Li Heng waved his hand, and the Sun True Fire manifested.
The Sun True Fire at his level was terrifyingly powerful; it could not only burn physical matter but also burn metaphysical concepts, which naturally included these threads transformed from the power of Fate.
The threads of Fate were stained with the Sun True Fire.
In an instant, they turned into ash and nothingness.
"You should take a good look now. I didn't use any power of the War Calamity. Or do you think this kind of Sun True Fire is something the War Calamity can use?"
Li Heng looked at Suming and said.
"Why is it impossible? Perhaps it is just a trick!"
Suming replied.
But secretly, he furrowed his brows slightly, and his calm heart lake rippled with doubt. He had to admit that what Li Heng said this time was indeed reasonable; it wasn't as ridiculous as before.
That level of flame did not look like something the War Calamity could use. Even if it could be used, it would certainly expose the unique aura of the War Calamity before him, and it could not escape his Dharma Eye.
Yet now, he did not sense any aura of a Calamity from Li Heng; on the contrary, there was the aura of a Dao Lord, appearing both orthodox and normal.
Could it really be that he had misunderstood?
Could it really be that he was wrong?
He couldn't help but shake his head, trying to shake off the wavering in his heart.
Even if he were wrong, could this person's words be true? Impossible! How could he be a Calamity or a monster? He clearly remembered very well that he was the trace or the reverse side of a certain Dao Lord!
"To think you actually find what I said reasonable, then why bother holding on so stubbornly? Perhaps if you and I have a good discussion, I might even be able to save you," Li Heng said with a smile.
Although the changes in fate were subtle, they could not escape his Dharma Eye.
"Speak no more, you are spouting heretical nonsense to bewitch the masses."
Fate spat out these eight characters and fell into silence.
"How is this heretical nonsense! I have already proven that I am neither a War Calamity nor any other Disaster or monster, but a normal living being within the Great Void."
"You seem to have vaguely sensed this point as well."
"But even so, it seems that your aversion to me remains rooted in your bloodline, your bones, your soul, and even your True Spirit, almost Eternal and unmoving."
"What kind of deep-seated hatred do you think this is? We have only just met! Unless it is that natural aversion that Disaster monsters have toward normal living beings within the Great Void, that would be the only possibility."
Li Heng spoke slowly, voicing his own conjecture...
