Chapter 776: The Position of Source Power, Above the Void
"Gestation, manifestation..."
Li Heng stroked his chin, murmuring to himself while deep in thought.
"Could this be gestating some kind of living being?"
"For instance, some Spirit of Source Power, or a God of Source Power?"
He speculated.
This wondrous rhyme changed once more; it did not gestate a living being as Li Heng had imagined, but instead manifested a strange scene. Within this strange scene, all was dim and obscure, seemingly empty of everything.
But the next moment, a position manifested.
The reason it is called merely a position is because these positions changed according to Li Heng's thoughts; it could be a stool, it could be a comfortable and warm sofa, it could be a supreme imperial throne surrounded by nine dragons, or it could be a supreme divine seat standing above all heavens!
For some reason, he seemed to be able to tell that this position had been vacant for a long time, possessing an air of desolation, quietly waiting for someone with the destined affinity to occupy it.
"What is this? A throne of Source Power?"
Li Heng frowned, quickly thinking of a possibility.
In his perception, this strange scene and that position held no danger, so he reached out to probe into this strange scene, but his arm passed right through it.
Only then did he notice.
This strange scene appeared to have manifested, but in reality, it remained ethereal and illusory, like a reflection in water; it seemed that a gentle breeze could stir up endless ripples and waves.
"Is it an illusion, or has it not truly manifested yet?"
Li Heng pondered, feeling it was likely the latter.
He could perceive in the dark that if he could enter this strange scene and occupy that position, perhaps something unexpected would happen—it could be a great opportunity, or it could be a great danger.
"Interesting."
"Is that position, that divine seat, the ultimate end of Source Power or something else? Why do I feel that position has been vacant for so long, sealed away for so long? Could it be that the position existed originally and was not newly condensed? And what is my connection to Source Power?"
He muttered to himself, everything filled with unsolved mysteries.
However, he was not without gains.
After this strange scene manifested and that position emerged, he always felt he had formed some kind of wondrous connection with that position, as if he could communicate with it and call upon its power.
For example...
With a shift of his mind, wondrous power descended quietly, acting upon the supreme level within Reality, and subsequently, he only felt his perspective rise infinitely, his own self once again detaching from the Great Void, looking down upon the entire Great Void from a high vantage point.
"Not enough, the perspective is still not high enough."
Li Heng shook his head; what he could see now was merely one layer of Reality of the Great Void.
He shifted his mind again, calling upon more power.
The perspective rose upward once more.
At this moment, a wondrous scene appeared before Li Heng.
It seemed as if there were countless Great Voids!
These Great Voids were like parallel lines that never intersected, each independent of the others. But if viewed from a higher perspective, the countless Great Voids were superimposed together, forming the same Great Void from a higher and broader level.
"Is this Duochong Xianshi?"
Li Heng was thoughtful.
"But this does not seem to be the entirety of the Great Void. Could there be something higher above?" he muttered to himself.
He then communicated with that position again, causing his perspective to rise once more. But unfortunately, the Great Void below became increasingly tiny as his line of sight rose higher and higher. In this supreme height, no other spacetime structures appeared; it was a void.
"It appears to be Emptiness, but is that also within the Great Void?"
A contradictory feeling arose in Li Heng's heart.
Perhaps this method of raising one's perspective was limited regarding the Great Void, and could not allow him to truly observe the full appearance of the Great Void?
Since that was the case...
Then he would rise to the highest point in a single thought and reach the result.
He shifted his mind again, borrowing the great power of that position to reach the "highest," just like a book that originally had countless pages; one only needed to flip it over and turn it from the back to reach the result.
In an instant, Li Heng reached the "highest."
Looking down from here, the vast and boundless Great Void had shrunk into an Infinite point, but here it was not pure Emptiness; instead, a pavilion stood quietly.
This pavilion was very crude.
It looked only a few meters in size, with a stone table arranged in its center and nine stone stools around it, not placed completely, scattered on the ground, with some even broken and dilapidated.
But within this pavilion, a human figure stood.
"Interesting."
Li Heng was slightly surprised, manifested a figure, and walked into this pavilion. "I am Li Heng, greetings, fellow Daoist. I wonder what business you have in this desolate place?"
He looked at the figure and asked with a smile.
"What am I doing here? Good question."
"Actually, I don't know either."
"Ever since I had memories, I have been standing here, and there is a voice in my heart telling me I must stay here. Other than that, I don't remember anything else."
The figure possessed consciousness; seeing Li Heng, it spoke.
"Are you some Dao Lord?"
Li Heng asked.
He looked at these stone stools scattered on the ground, broken and dilapidated, and had some conjectures in his heart.
"Dao Lord? That is a good title, it sounds somewhat familiar."
"Perhaps that is truly the case?"
The figure said with some hesitation.
"Speaking of which, I do remember some things. This place seems to be a gathering and dining place for those Dao Lords, but since it is this place, why has it become like this now?"
The figure frowned, feeling quite troubled.
Li Heng did not answer immediately; he looked up. He discovered that there was still something higher above, meaning this place was not the highest, or at least not the Absolute highest. He sensed slightly again and discovered that he could go even higher.
So that was it; he understood in his heart.
Although he could draw upon the power of that position, he could not draw upon it to the Infinite; the momentary burst had not reached true infinity, which was why he had not arrived at the true highest point.
To put it simply, the output power was insufficient.
"I do know a little something."
"As far as I know, those Dao Lords have all fallen one by one because they resisted the Disasters and monsters occurring within the Great Void; only some traces of their existence remain, and this pavilion has also been abandoned for a long time."
Li Heng figured this out, then answered the figure.
"So that is how it is? So that is it, no wonder, no wonder..." The figure muttered incessantly, speaking faster and faster, the smile on their face growing broader, even clapping their hands in excitement.
"Thank you, thank you; I have finally remembered some things. I am indeed a Dao Lord, and as for me now, I must be dead, because I no longer have a life."
"So, can you give your life to me?"
The figure looked at Li Heng and said happily.
