Chapter 279: The Mysterious Crisis of the Quantum Graveyard

~9 min read 1,728 words

Lín Jìn, Ling Yue and Lin Li, after enduring a fierce battle with the Larva and an explosive shock in the Observer's nursery cabin, dragged their weary yet resolute bodies and continued to explore deeper into the cabin. The cabin was now a wreck, twisted metal debris and flickering energy fragments scattered everywhere, and a pungent smell filled the air, as if recounting the brutality of the recent intense fight.

They proceeded cautiously, occasional hissing of energy leaks and creaking of twisting metal structures echoing around them. Suddenly, Lín Jìn keenly sensed a strange energy fluctuation ahead, like the dormant presence of a powerful force. He signaled Ling Yue and Lin Li to stop, and the three watched the front warily.

At that moment, a dazzling blue beam shot out of the darkness, charging straight at Lín Jìn. Lín Jìn swiftly swung the Abyss Return Ruler, and a Sword Qi met the blue beam. The collision burst into intense light, illuminating the surroundings like daylight. When the light faded, a quantum creature resembling a giant python appeared before them. The giant python was covered in scales that flickered with blue light, its eyes like two cold lanterns, glaring ferociously at them.

"What is this thing?" Ling Yue said in surprise, and quickly drew the Mechanical Zigong, preparing to counter the attack.

Lin Li focused her mind, attempting to parse the data of the quantum creature. "It appears to be a guardian created by the Observer using quantum technology, possessing powerful energy attack capabilities," Lin Li said.

The giant python quantum creature twisted its body and launched another attack. It opened its massive maw, spewing a thicker blue beam like a Laser, firing at the three. Lín Jìn, Ling Yue and Lin Li scattered quickly to dodge; the blue beam brushed past their bodies, struck the wall behind them, and the wall was instantly blasted into a huge hole.

Lín Jìn timed it, his form flashing as he charged at the giant python. The Abyss Return Ruler in his hand glowed as he slashed at the python's head. The python twisted agilely, evading Lín Jìn's strike, and simultaneously whipped its tail hard at him. Lín Jìn sidestepped but the tail still brushed his arm, sending a sharp pain through him.

Ling Yue seized the chance, operating the Mechanical Zigong to fire a series of energy projectiles at the giant python. The projectiles struck the python, erupting in brilliant sparks, but seemed to cause limited damage.

Lin Li anxiously analyzed the python's weak points from the side, discovering tiny gaps between its scales where the energy defense was relatively weak. "Lín Jìn, attack the gaps in its scales!" Lin Li shouted.

Lín Jìn heard and surged at the giant python again. He gathered his strength, forming a sharp Sword Qi on the Abyss Return Ruler, thrusting it into the gap of the python's scales. The ruler pierced the gap, the python let out a painful roar, its body convulsing violently.

At that moment, several huge hatch doors on the nursery cabin walls suddenly opened, and a swarm of small quantum creatures poured out. They resembled spiders and quickly crawled toward the three. These quantum spiders shimmered with eerie purple light and moved with extreme agility.

"Trouble again, another batch!" Ling Yue said. She increased the Mechanical Zigong's energy output and fired a powerful energy beam at the quantum spider swarm. The beam swept through, vaporizing some spiders instantly, but more spiders continued to surge toward them.

Lin Li quickly took out a small energy interferer and tossed it at the quantum spider swarm. The interferer emitted a strong electromagnetic pulse, slowing the spiders' movements.

Lín Jìn seized the injured python's opening, exerted force again, and drove the Abyss Return Ruler deep into the python's body. The python struggled a few times, then collapsed, turning into a pile of flickering quantum fragments.

After dealing with the python, the three quickly turned to the quantum spiders. Lín Jìn swung the Abyss Return Ruler, slashing the approaching spiders one by one. Ling Yue operated the Mechanical Zigong, continuously firing energy projectiles to clear the surrounding spiders. Lin Li, on the side, used the energy interferer to continuously disrupt the spiders' movements.

Through the three's combined effort, the quantum spider swarm was gradually eliminated. Yet before they could catch their breath, a low rumble echoed inside the nursery cabin. Immediately, the ground began to shake violently, and massive fissures spread across the floor.

"Bad, this nursery cabin might collapse!" Lín Jìn said.

The three hurried forward, trying to find a safe spot to hide. While running, Lín Jìn suddenly spotted a huge metal door ahead, its surface covered with strange runes. The runes glowed with mysterious light, seeming to conceal a powerful force.

"Behind this door there may be something important, perhaps it can help us completely thwart the Observer's conspiracy," Lín Jìn said.

However, as they approached the metal door, it suddenly opened automatically, and a powerful suction emanated from within, forcibly pulling the three inside.

The three only felt a dizzying swirl, and when they regained composure, they found themselves inside a vast space. The area was filled with a thick white mist, within which vague massive silhouettes swayed.

"What is this place?" Ling Yue asked warily.

Lín Jìn examined the surroundings carefully, "This seems to be a hidden space, possibly linked to the Observer's core plan. Everyone be careful, this place is full of unknown dangers."

At that moment, a huge silhouette slowly emerged from the mist. It was a humanoid, dozens of meters tall, its whole body radiating golden light. Its face lacked features, only a massive circular void from which a low hum continuously emanated.

"Outsiders, you should not have entered here. This is the Observer's forbidden zone; your arrival will trigger irreversible consequences," the giant humanoid's voice echoed through the space, as if from all directions.

Lín Jìn stared at the giant humanoid without fear, "We came to break the Observer's conspiracy; no matter how many dangers lie ahead, we will not retreat."

The giant humanoid let out a low laugh, "You think your strength alone can thwart the Observer's plan? That's sheer delusion."

With that, the giant humanoid raised its massive palm and slapped down toward the three. The palm was like a dark cloud, covering the sky, and wherever it passed, space shattered from the shock.

Lín Jìn, Ling Yue and Lin Li quickly scattered, each employing tactics to evade the attack. Lín Jìn's eyes glowed with intense purple, and from the Quantum Iris he fired purple rays like sharp blades toward the giant humanoid's palm. Ling Yue used the Mechanical Zigong to generate a blue shield around herself, blocking the attack's aftereffects. Lin Li focused, attempting to parse the giant humanoid's data to find its weakness.

The purple rays struck the giant humanoid's palm, leaving only shallow marks. The creature seemed barely affected, withdrew its palm and launched another attack. This time, it emitted a golden beam from the circular void, moving at extreme speed, reaching Lín Jìn in an instant.

Lín Jìn hurriedly blocked with the Abyss Return Ruler; the ruler collided with the golden beam, erupting in dazzling light. Lín Jìn felt a massive force surge, his arm tingling, nearly losing grip on the ruler.

Ling Yue timed it, operating the Mechanical Zigong to launch an energy cannon projectile at the giant humanoid. The projectile struck its body, producing a huge blast. Yet the humanoid only shivered slightly, sustaining no substantive damage.

Lin Li anxiously analyzed the data beside them, discovering the giant humanoid's energy core resided at its chest, shielded by a powerful energy barrier. Moreover, this barrier formed a special energy circulation with the surrounding space, making it hard to break.

"Lín Jìn, Ling Yue, its energy core is at the chest but the shield is hard to break. We need to find a way to cut off the shield's energy circulation with the surrounding space," Lin Li said.

Lín Jìn nodded, "I'll draw its attention, Ling Yue, you look for a chance to strike its legs to unbalance it. Lin Li, you continue seeking a way to sever the energy circulation."

With that, Lín Jìn charged at the giant humanoid again. He swung the Abyss Return Ruler, executing various sword techniques, continuously assaulting the creature. The humanoid, enraged by Lín Jìn's attacks, focused all its attention on him, launching relentless attacks.

Ling Yue seized the chance to circle behind the giant humanoid, operating the Mechanical Zigong to fire a series of energy projectiles at its legs. The projectiles hit, slowing its movements.

Lin Li focused, carefully observing the energy shield's connection points with the surrounding space. After effort, she finally located the critical node. Lin Li quickly drew a small energy cutter and rushed toward the node.

Under Lín Jìn and Ling Yue's cover, Lin Li approached the node successfully. She activated the energy cutter, a blue laser beam firing at the node. The beam sliced the node, and the energy shield began to ripple.

The giant humanoid seemed to sense danger, attempting to turn and attack Lin Li. Lín Jìn, seeing this, quickly intensified his assault to draw its focus. The Abyss Return Ruler in his hand radiated dazzling light, sending Sword Qi toward the creature.

Under Lín Jìn and Ling Yue's full-force attack, the giant humanoid temporarily could not split to strike Lin Li. Lin Li seized the chance, cutting the node with all her might, and finally the node was successfully severed.

The energy shield instantly lost its energy circulation support from the surrounding space and began to dissipate rapidly. Lín Jìn timed it, gathered his whole strength, and thrust the Abyss Return Ruler into the giant humanoid's chest energy core.

When the ruler pierced the energy core, the giant humanoid let out an earth-shaking roar. Its body convulsed violently, the golden light fading gradually. Finally, the creature crashed to the ground, turning into a pile of golden fragments.

After dealing with the giant humanoid, the three breathed a sigh of relief. Yet they knew this was only another hurdle on their path to thwart the Observer's conspiracy, and more unknown dangers awaited ahead.

They continued to explore this mysterious space, hoping to uncover more clues about the Observer's conspiracy and completely dismantle the Observer's evil plan…
