Chapter 133: Familiar Baiyin
A heaven-shaking roar erupted from the waves of fire, and a hurricane swept the flames into nothingness, revealing the figure of the Great Tengu within.
The Great Tengu looked quite disheveled; the Samurai Sword in its right hand had snapped, the armor on its body had become tattered, a good portion of its hair was scorched, and the health bar above its head had dropped to a near-red state. In its right hand, it gripped a folding fan tightly; clearly, the hurricane from just a moment ago had been unleashed from this fan.
"Tch, so I really didn't manage to kill it!" Lingyun clicked his tongue in his heart, then looked at the Long sword in his hand; its durability had reached zero.
After entering the Limit Break state and engaging the Great Tengu, the durability of the sword in his hand had dropped like flowing water. Although the sword's special nature meant it wouldn't disappear even when durability hit zero, it was effectively useless until the durability was restored to full. His strike just now had been an attempt to use the last bit of the sword's durability to see if he could finish the guy off, but it looked like he had failed!
Seeing the Long sword in Lingyun's hand vanish, the Great Tengu let out a cold sneer. It knew that the people here relied almost entirely on their weapons for their strength; without a weapon, this person was basically finished.
Lingyun saw through the Great Tengu's thoughts and a smile curled at the corner of his mouth. If it were other players, such a situation might indeed occur. But he was no ordinary player, and furthermore, he was currently in the Limit Break state.
Lingyun stomped his right foot against the ground, his figure shooting out like a bullet to reach the front of the Great Tengu. He clenched his right fist, circles of golden light swirling around it, and slammed it heavily onto the back of the Great Tengu's left hand.
The Great Tengu had not expected Lingyun to make such a move at all; its left hand involuntarily loosened, and the folding fan slipped from its grasp. Lingyun seized this opportunity to kick out, sending the folding fan flying far away.
Seeing that it had lost its weapon, the Great Tengu panicked for a moment. Lingyun quickly checked his character panel; there was still one minute left until Limit Break ended.
"One minute, that's enough!" Lingyun chuckled, a strange light flashing in his heterochromatic eyes. He then grabbed the Great Tengu's armor with his right hand and, exerting force with both hands, threw it away. The Great Tengu crashed heavily to the ground, struggling to climb back up.
Golden and silver light surged on Lingyun's fists. He lunged to appear before the Great Tengu and swung his fists heavily. The Great Tengu only felt the space in front of it instantly filled with golden and silver fist shadows.
"Bang, bang, bang!" Amidst the violent roaring sounds, the Great Tengu's body was sent flying backward like a tattered sack, and the health bar above its head shrank by a large chunk in an instant.
"Die!" At this moment, the folding fan finally appeared in the Great Tengu's hand again. It flapped its wings violently, stopping its body in mid-air, and with a wave of the folding fan, a hurricane surged toward Lingyun.
Seeing the incoming gale, Lingyun crossed his arms in front of himself to take a defensive stance. The little white cat in Lingqi's arms suddenly let out a "meow," and a transparent Shield appeared on Lingyun, blocking the hurricane's attack. At the same time, Lingyun received a BUFF notification: all his attributes had increased by ten percent for ten Seconds.
"The one who's going to die is you!" Lingyun stomped his right foot against the ground and charged toward the Great Tengu.
The Great Tengu's heart skipped a beat. It flapped its wings and actually rose another few meters higher. Lingyun's body swayed in mid-air, and he threw out his fists. Golden and silver light gathered on his fists, then transformed into two fist imprints that shot directly out from his fists, slamming heavily into the Great Tengu.
"Hundred-Step Divine Fist!"
"This, how is this possible?" The Great Tengu's body flew backward in mid-air, and tiny specks of light began to dissipate from its body. It had never imagined that in this world, there would be such a method of attack.
Seeing the Great Tengu turn into fragments and disappear, Lingqi let out a soft breath, then curiously lifted the little cat in her arms. She had seen the Shield that appeared on Lingyun clearly; neither Lingyun nor she had such a skill, so the only possibility was this little fellow.
Just as Lingqi was peering curiously at the little fellow, she suddenly received a message: the little white cat in front of her was requesting to become her familiar.
A look of surprise appeared on Lingqi's face, and she clicked confirm without any hesitation.
"What's wrong, Lingqi? What has you so happy?" Lingyun finished collecting the loot and came to Lingqi's side.
"The little cat has become my familiar!" Lingqi said to Lingyun with a joyful face, holding up the little cat in her hands.
"It became your familiar? Could it be that it was the final reward for this quest?" Lingyun looked at the little cat in Lingqi's hands with some confusion. "Let's see what abilities it has!"
"Mm!" Lingqi checked the little white cat's attributes. "Oh, it has several skills! One provides a player with a Shield that can absorb a large amount of damage, usable once a day. One can increase a player's total attributes by ten percent for ten Seconds, with a cooldown of two hours. The last one restores ten percent of health to up to ten players simultaneously, with a cooldown of three minutes. These are all very powerful skills!"
"That strong?" Lingyun's tone was surprised. Although this quest was a bit difficult to complete, this familiar was just too powerful!
"Mm." Lingqi nodded excitedly.
"It's just that we didn't find any information about that so-called Lord God," Lingyun said, frowning.
"If there really is a god, maybe he left a long time ago," Lingqi shrugged. "Let's go turn in the quest now."
"Mm, let's go. This Palace is about to disappear!" Lingyun nodded slightly.
When the two exited the Palace, the luxurious building turned into countless fragments and vanished into the Void.
The two did not linger here, but returned directly to the Small Village.
After listening to the account from Lingyun and Lingqi, the old woman nodded slightly: "Is that so? The Devil has been eliminated? As for Lord God, perhaps it is as you say, and he has already left."
After bidding farewell to the old woman, Lingyun and Lingqi set off on the road back to the Town.
Lingqi held the little cat in her arms and said to Lingyun with a smile: "Lingyun, what do you think would be a good name for this little fellow?"
"What would be a good name?" Lingyun scratched the back of his head; he was completely unskilled at this sort of thing! "I'm not good at naming things!"
"How about Baiyin?" Lingqi suggested. Upon hearing this name, the little cat in Lingqi's arms raised its head and meowed at her a few times.
"Baiyin? Not a bad name." Lingyun nodded. "Looks like this little fellow really likes this name too!"
"Mm, from now on you'll be called Baiyin!" Lingqi smiled and changed the little white cat's name to Baiyin.
After the name was changed to Baiyin, a faint light bloomed from the little white cat's body, and it then grew an extra tail.
"Eh, Lingyun, what's going on here?" Lingqi asked, looking at Baiyin with curiosity.
Conversely, Lingyun revealed a look of "as I expected": "I said it, didn't I? In a map full of Tengu, how could a normal cat appear? So this little fellow is a Bakeneko!"
"Bakeneko?" Lingqi tilted her head.
"Bakeneko, also known as a cat demon, is also a powerful creature. If I'm not mistaken, this little fellow should have another identity, and that is the Lord God of that Small Village!"
"Lord God? Could it really be that you guessed right?"
"It's possible. Perhaps ordinary familiars don't have all these powerful abilities, but if it's a god protecting a village, having these abilities should be the most normal thing in the world!" Lingyun shrugged.
"It's really hard to believe. I actually took a village's guardian god as a familiar; it's really hard for me to believe." Lingqi was still somewhat incredulous. "It really is as you said, we really hit the jackpot!"
"That's right, let's go back!" Lingyun laughed.
"Mm!"
Baiyin in Lingqi's arms peered curiously at the two talking, then slightly curled up its body, finding a more comfortable spot in Lingqi's arms to fall asleep.
