Chapter 185: Hidden Secrets of the Past
The next day, when Lingyun returned from school, Su Wanyue was already waiting for him at home.
"Lingyun, you said there was someone who wanted to see me; who exactly is it?" As soon as she saw Lingyun enter, Su Wanyue asked.
Lingyun waved his hand, activating the Array within the room to isolate it from any outside prying, then took out the Jade Pendant and said, "Come out!"
A burst of Yin Energy surged from the Jade Pendant in Lingyun's hand, slowly coalescing into a human figure before him. The moment the figure appeared, a massive amount of Evil Energy spread wantonly in all directions with him at the center.
The instant the Evil Energy erupted, Luo Yexi and Busujima Saeko looked up simultaneously; Nine Yang True Qi and Shura Power exploded at the same time, blasting the Evil Energy—which had not yet fully spread—back in the most brutal manner possible.
Su Ye, who had just manifested his form, could not help but let out a muffled groan, his figure becoming somewhat translucent. When he first emerged, he had intended to give Lingyun a show of force; after all, his strength had been significantly suppressed by the Array while in the small lake, and Lingyun's casual destruction of the Evil Energy he had gathered had left him feeling quite unconvinced. However, he had never expected that there would be two genuine Heaven Tier experts in this room. Furthermore, both the Nine Yang True Qi and the Shura Power were highly effective at restraining Evil Energy. In just a single moment, the two women had suppressed the Evil Energy he had unleashed, dealing him a heavy blow.
After re-solidifying his somewhat dissipated body, Su Ye looked toward Luo Yexi and the other woman with lingering fear. He had completely failed to anticipate that there would be two genuine Heaven Tier powerhouses in this inconspicuous room. At the same time, he was secretly relieved that these two Heaven Tier powerhouses had not attacked him in earnest; otherwise, even with the unique nature of his existence as a ghost, he would have suffered severe damage to his Origin Qi.
"To think a mere Fusion-stage Yin Soul would dare to act presumptuously in front of my master!" Luo Yexi said coldly.
Upon hearing this, Su Ye felt a shiver run through him. He could naturally tell that the "master" Luo Yexi referred to was Lingyun. Although he did not know why Luo Yexi, as a disciple, possessed Heaven Tier strength while her master seemed weaker than him in his perception, he dared not harbor any more ulterior motives. The auras of Luo Yexi and the other woman were still firmly locked onto him; he believed that if he made any suspicious moves, these two women would absolutely blast him into dust at the first opportunity.
"You, are you Fourth Uncle?" Seeing the figure that had appeared out of thin air, Su Wanyue could not help but widen her eyes. Although several years had passed, she recognized the person before her at a glance.
Su Ye turned his gaze to Su Wanyue, looking at her familiar face, and said with a sigh, "You are Big Brother's daughter, Wanyue, aren't you?"
"Yes, it's me, Fourth Uncle!" Su Wanyue nodded vigorously, then hurriedly asked, "Fourth Uncle, how did you end up like this?"
"You want to ask why I became a Yin Soul, right? Yes, you guessed correctly; I am already dead. I died several years ago." Su Ye finally revealed the truth that Su Wanyue was most unwilling to admit.
"But, Fourth Uncle, wasn't your strength the greatest under the Innate level back then? How could you end up like this? Could it be that an Innate-level old monster really attacked you?" Su Wanyue asked anxiously.
"That's right, the person who attacked me was indeed an Innate-level expert. I never expected their methods to be so ruthless, to actually have an Innate expert ambush me," Su Ye said indignantly.
"An Innate expert, an ambush?" Su Wanyue's brow furrowed instantly. "Fourth Uncle, what exactly happened back then, and who was it that hired an Innate expert?"
Looking at Su Wanyue, Su Ye sighed softly: "This matter was done by people from the Ji Family!"
"The Ji Family?" Lingyun's brow furrowed slightly; he immediately thought of Ji Moyuan. "Could it be that the Ji Family has become such a clan now?"
"However, this Ji Family was not the main branch, but a cadet branch of the Ji Family that did it," Su Ye said.
"A cadet branch of the Ji Family?" Su Wanyue raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, the Ji Family has a large estate and many members; many branches split off many years ago. But even as a cadet branch, the power they possess is still not to be underestimated," Su Ye explained.
"The reason?" Su Wanyue asked urgently.
"Back then, the Clan Master of that Ji branch came to our home as a guest, and for some reason, he took a liking to you at first sight. At a later gathering, that bastard approached me, wanting to propose marriage for his son so you would marry into his family. He promised that if the matter succeeded, he would let me view some of the family's secret texts to help me break through to the Innate level." A sneer appeared on Su Ye's face. "Heh, they didn't stop to think, who is Su Ye? Would I sell my niece's lifelong happiness for some so-called secret texts? I told him straight to his face that his little brat of a son wasn't worthy of my Wanyue, and I drove him out."
"Could it be that just because of such a thing, the Ji Family had an Innate expert ambush you? This is too hard to believe." Su Wanyue looked astonished.
"Of course not. At the time, that guy had hooked up with an unknown Innate expert, and that Innate expert was the one who ambushed me. I only realized when I was being killed that the guy was lacking a powerful Yin Soul as his subordinate. However, powerful Yin Souls are not easy to find, so he collaborated with people from the Ji Family and eventually set his sights on me." Su Ye spread his hands. "After that, you know the rest: that Innate expert ambushed me, killed me, and suppressed me in that small lake."
"The Ji Family!" A murderous glint flashed in Su Wanyue's eyes. "Some time ago, another guy surnamed Ji came to propose marriage to me, but my father rejected him. I'm wondering, could these two families be the same?"
Su Ye narrowed his eyes: "That possibility cannot be ruled out. I have dealt with those old fogies from the Ji Family; they are the type who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. If it really is them, Wanyue, you must be careful. If they fail to secure the marriage, they might resort to some underhanded methods!"
"I must go tell my father about this; he is knowledgeable and experienced, perhaps he will have a way." Su Wanyue turned her gaze toward Lingyun.
Lingyun smiled and tossed the Jade Pendant in his hand to her: "I had already agreed with him that I would let him return to the Su Family. Since he really is your Fourth Uncle, then this Jade Pendant he inhabits is yours to keep."
"Yes, Lingyun, thank you for rescuing my Fourth Uncle from that cage. I need to hurry home now; this matter requires my father's decision!" Su Wanyue took the Jade Pendant and stood up.
"Go, quickly. I don't know how long it will take for the other party to find out about this, so you must act fast!" Lingyun nodded.
Su Wanyue left in a hurry. Luo Yexi asked, "Master, do you think the guy who suppressed Su Ye in the small lake will come after us?"
"The possibility is not very high. Right now, what he has to face is the wrath of the Su Family. If he really does come knocking, I wouldn't mind letting him witness our strength," Lingyun said indifferently.
