Chapter 218: Pray for Your Own Good
After leaving the tavern, Lingyun wandered around outside for a while before returning to his mansion.
"Hah!" Just as he entered the mansion, two sharp streaks of blade Qi lunged toward his face. Lingyun flicked one hand, and a thin white line appeared before him, easily slicing the blade Qi in half at the waist.
"Lingyun, your strength seems to be growing stronger and stronger!" Busujima Saeko said, looking at the blade Qi that had been severed into two segments by the thin line.
"That is only natural, isn't it? I am recovering my own strength, while you are cultivating; these two states are not comparable!" Lingyun spread his hands.
"By the way, that girl seems to have woken up. Do you want to go take a look?" Busujima Saeko put away the sword in her hand and spoke.
"Awake? I'll go take a look!" Lingyun headed toward the stairs.
When Lingyun entered the room where Sayo was, the girl was leaning against the bed, staring out the window in a daze. Hearing the sound of the door being pushed open, she couldn't help but look toward the entrance. In her memory, shouldn't she have been tortured to death by that vicious noble lady? Why was she in a room like this now? Could it be that it was just a nightmare? But the scars on her body were all telling her that those days were not fake, but had truly and surely happened.
"Awake already? It seems my medicine is quite effective!" Lingyun looked at Sayo on the bed and nodded slightly. Although the girl's complexion was still deathly pale, at least there was a hint of vitality in her body.
"Did you save me?" Sayo asked softly.
"Save? Perhaps. I just went out for a walk and ended up picking up two corpses that still had a breath of life left in them. Being able to survive shows that your lives are quite resilient!" Lingyun replied.
"Um, um, the medicine on my body, did you apply it for me?" Sayo asked hesitantly, her face turning bright red as soon as she finished the sentence.
"No, I only provided the medicine to treat the wounds. As for your current state, it was Saeko and Kurome who handled it." Lingyun also understood the meaning behind Sayo's words and explained.
"Is that so?" Sayo breathed a slight sigh of relief. Regardless, she was a girl, and it was never good to have her body seen by someone of the opposite sex while she was unconscious. "By the way, how is Ieyasu doing?"
"His situation is much more troublesome than yours. Your body only suffered injuries, which just require proper recuperation. The illness he has is an extremely tricky disease; even for me, it will take quite a bit of effort to resolve it completely." Lingyun waved his hand.
"Then, can I go see him?" Sayo asked.
"In your current condition, you had better lie obediently in bed. Wait until your injuries have improved a bit before going to see him!" Lingyun said.
"Kind sir, could I please ask you for a favor?" Sayo was silent for a moment before speaking softly.
"Please, go ahead." Lingyun nodded.
"I came to the Imperial Capital with two other companions. Now, one of those partners has been separated from us. I am worried about whether he might be in danger within the Imperial Capital. Could I ask you to help us find this person?" Sayo asked with some embarrassment.
"That is no problem at all. As far as I know, that partner of yours seems to have been taken away by the assassin group Night Raid. As for where they took him, I do not know," Lingyun said. "By the way, this Night Raid is the group that wiped out the family that abused you."
"Night Raid?" Sayo frowned slightly. "I understand. Thank you very much."
"Rest well. Although your condition has improved, you are still very weak!" Lingyun left the room and closed the door behind him.
Sayo stared at the closed door, the light in her eyes flickering uncertainly. She couldn't help but start to wonder why Lingyun had saved the two of them. It wasn't that she was naturally dark-hearted, but after experiencing the incident with Aria's family, she had thoroughly realized the darkness within the Imperial Capital. Lingyun had no prior connection with them, yet he saved them now; this couldn't help but make her keep her guard up.
At the Night Raid Base, Tatsumi looked at Leone with an anxious expression: "Big Sister, you said that the bodies of Sayo and Ieyasu are gone. What is going on?"
"T-this, I don't know either. Because the Imperial Guard arrived so suddenly at the time, we retreated in a great hurry and didn't notice the situation at the scene. After the people from the Guard left, I snuck back there again, wanting to bring back the bodies of your two companions for burial. There were no changes at the scene at that time, but the bodies of your two companions were already gone," Leone said, spreading her hands helplessly. "And today I went to the Imperial Capital to scout around again, but still didn't find anything."
"How could this happen?" Tatsumi knelt on the ground, powerless.
"Leone, have you been drinking?" Akame suddenly appeared in front of Leone.
"Aha, so it's Akame." Leone scratched the back of her head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Because I ran into a kind little brother today, and he treated me to a good meal. By the way, I even borrowed a large sum of money from him—it was a full one hundred thousand gold coins!"
"One hundred thousand gold coins?" Looking at the money bag in Leone's hand, even the usually composed Akame couldn't help but be shocked. "Leone, you aren't scaring me, are you?"
"No, I'm not. I saw that the little brother didn't seem to take this money to heart at all; he lent it to me very casually," Leone waved her hand. "And we even signed a Contract, but that contract has already been completely destroyed by me, so there's no proof left! How about it, am I very smart?"
"Leone, don't you find it strange? One hundred thousand gold coins is a huge sum. Normally, no one would carry that around on them," Mine, who was to the side, spoke up. "And to lend you so much money so lightly using only a contract, isn't this matter very strange?"
"Could it be that such a person really exists in this world?" Even Lubbock couldn't help but click his tongue. "Or is there something wrong with this money?"
"No, there is nothing wrong with this money. After leaving the tavern, I checked it carefully several times, and the final result was that there is nothing wrong with this money," Leone said.
Akame, who was to the side, was in a daze for a moment before slowly saying: "No, in this world, such people do indeed exist!"
"Akame, ever since we came out of that noble's house yesterday, you've been a bit strange. Did something happen?" Leone looked at Akame with some concern.
"I'm fine, I just thought of some things from the past!" Akame shook her head, shaking off the thoughts in her mind. "By the way, Leone, can you tell me what the person who lent you the money looked like?"
Leone was feeling a bit panicked now, and she described Lingyun's appearance to Akame earnestly. After hearing Leone's description, Akame could be certain that the person Leone met was, in all likelihood, Lingyun. However, thinking that Leone had actually signed something similar to a slave contract with her own master, Akame felt a headache coming on. Although Leone had destroyed the contract, no one could guarantee whether that master of hers had any special abilities to enforce this contract!
"I have a few things I want to say now." Akame clapped her hands, drawing the attention of everyone present.
"The first matter concerns Tatsumi. Those two companions of yours are very likely not dead yet!" Akame's first point stunned everyone present, and Tatsumi, to the side, also looked at Akame with half-belief.
"Regarding this matter, I cannot say too much. You can just keep this in mind for now." Akame did not want to reveal information about Lingyun for the time being. "The second matter concerns you, Leone. As for signing that slave contract, you'll have to pray for your own good!"
"Pray for my own good? Akame, what do you mean by that? Please don't scare me!" Leone looked at Akame with teary eyes.
Akame didn't say anything more, just picked up her Murasame and walked outside: "My training mission for today hasn't been completed yet. You all go do your own things!"
"Akame is definitely hiding something from us!" After Akame left, Lubbock said with a serious expression.
"In our line of work, who doesn't have their own secrets? Akame doesn't want to tell us now, so she naturally has her reasons. We don't need to think about it so much!" Leone waved her hand indifferently. "I'm going to drink, I'm off!"
Watching the two of them leave, Lubbock couldn't help but give a bitter smile and looked at Bulat behind him.
"Don't worry, I believe that one day, Akame will tell us everything!" Bulat patted him on the shoulder, revealing a brilliant smile.
"Yeah, I know. Now I'm going to check if there's any problem with the perimeter wire alarm system!" Seeing Bulat like this, Lubbock couldn't help but recall some rumors about him, then felt a chill run down his spine, and quickly slipped out of the room.
