Chapter 247: The Undead Army

The Grim Reaper, forced out of hiding by Lingyun, let out a silent roar and swung the Scythe in his hand toward Lingyun.

Lingyun opened his hand, and a Long sword appeared in his grasp. The Long sword and the Scythe collided with a heavy boom, emitting a violent roar. A hint of gravity flashed in Lingyun's eyes; this Grim Reaper's strength was far greater than the Humanoid Danger Beast he had encountered before.

Failing to land a hit, the Grim Reaper retreated rapidly and instantly vanished into the Void. Lingyun stood motionless, swinging his Long sword to form a circle of Sword Qi around him. Countless blade shadows slashed in from the Void, but Lingyun was always able to block them before the Grim Reaper's attacks could reach him.

"Is this the strength of your master?" Lubbock stared at the two combatants in shock.

"Wrong, Master's strength hasn't even been fully revealed yet!" Akame said with a calm expression.

In the blink of an eye, the two sides exchanged hundreds of blows, yet the Grim Reaper failed to gain any advantage. Seeing that he could not break through Lingyun's three-foot defense after so long and was instead showing signs of being suppressed, the Grim Reaper could not help but retreat, intending to change his attack method. The moment the Grim Reaper stepped back, a sharp glint flashed in Lingyun's eyes; he stepped forward and thrust his sword out.

This sword strike looked plain and simple, but the Grim Reaper sensed the scent of danger from it. Immediately, the ghost fire in the Grim Reaper's eye sockets flared, and gray-white currents instantly condensed into a shield in front of him, blocking the path of the Long sword.

"Crack—" The shield was pierced through like a thin sheet of paper by the Long sword, but the Grim Reaper had already used the moment the shield obstructed Lingyun's Long sword to escape a distance back. The space where Lingyun's Long sword had struck suddenly trembled, and then several cracks quietly appeared. If this sword strike capable of tearing space had landed on the Grim Reaper, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"What a pity!" Lingyun sighed softly, but there was not much disappointment in his tone; he had never expected to wound the Grim Reaper in a single strike.

Watching the space cracks slowly disappear, the Grim Reaper understood that he had encountered an opponent capable of taking his life. Not daring to be negligent, gray-white currents surged continuously from his body, condensing into a massive Array in the Void. The moment the Array appeared, terrifying power spread from it, and the ground instantly turned gray-white under this force, showing signs of faintly transforming this battlefield into Mingtu.

After the Array appeared, the power within the Grim Reaper began to swell crazily. As an outside invader, he had been suppressed by the laws of this world from the moment he first appeared, his strength reduced by at least half. Now, he had released the Underworld Power within his body to transform this battlefield into a semi-Mingtu existence; although it could not buff himself, it could negate the world's suppression of him. However, this was not without a price; activating the Array meant he had to continuously consume his own power to maintain it, which was extremely disadvantageous in battle.

However, the Grim Reaper was not without methods. With a roar, bone claws pierced out from the ground, and skeletons crawled out from the earth one after another. In just a few breaths, hundreds of skeletons appeared before Lingyun.

Lingyun pointed with one hand, and countless Sword Qi erupted from his body, carrying terrifying heat that turned the skeletons before him into fly ash. Yet, skeleton soldiers surged crazily from the ground toward Lingyun in an endless stream. Lingyun flicked his ten fingers repeatedly, and streaks of Sword Qi surged from his fingertips, continuously reaping the skeleton soldiers rushing at him.

"Not good, that Grim Reaper's intention is to exhaust Master's power!" Akame's expression changed slightly as she saw through the Grim Reaper's plan at a glance.

"Die!" A cold shout came from mid-air, and countless gold-red Sword Qi descended from the sky, striking directly at the Grim Reaper in mid-air.

The ghost fire in the Grim Reaper's eyes flashed, and a bone shield appeared before him. The continuous Sword Qi bombarded the bone shield, sending bone shards flying. However, the bone shield still blocked the Sword Qi's bombardment, firmly protecting the Grim Reaper.

The Grim Reaper's figure flashed, and several more skeletons appeared beside him; these skeletons all radiated unusual power, presumably not comparable to ordinary cannon fodder.

Luo Yexi's figure appeared on the battlefield, and with a flick of the Nine Suns Heavenly Sword in her hand, dozens of sharp Sword Qi condensed into one, thrusting toward the Grim Reaper. A light flared simultaneously from the skeletons around the Grim Reaper, and then bone shields rose one after another in front of him. "Boom, boom, boom." The Array around the Grim Reaper continued to expand, and batch after batch of skeletons poured out from the Array, forming a powerful army of the undead. She opened her hand, and a massive Ice Ball appeared above her, which she then smashed directly toward the Grim Reaper. Dozens of intersecting bone spikes instantly appeared above the Grim Reaper. The bone spikes entangled together, blocking the Ice Ball.

Amidst a violent roar, the bone spikes shattered and flew everywhere, but they successfully changed the Ice Ball's landing point. Although a large number of skeleton soldiers were crushed, the Grim Reaper did not suffer any harm.

Just as the Grim Reaper thought he could raise this undead summoning array to its peak, a patch of shadow beneath his feet suddenly writhed, and a slender hand holding a pistol reached out from the shadow. A golden bullet shot from the muzzle, slamming heavily into the Array. Because the distance was too close, the Grim Reaper had no time to block it. The original Array vibrated suddenly and then slowly disintegrated. The Grim Reaper was furious, but Lingqi had already used the ability of the shadows to teleport to Lingyun's side.

"Well done, this way we don't have to worry about this guy crossing borders to summon a distraction of the Underworld King of the End from another world!" Lingyun said.

"Now this skeleton army is the real problem, isn't it!" Lingqi said.

Although Lingqi had shattered the reinforced summoning array set up by the Grim Reaper, the array for summoning the undead was still running. Before them, an army of the undead had already appeared.

"Then wouldn't it be fine to destroy them along with the summoning array and the Grim Reaper!" Luo Yexi said indifferently.
