Chapter 280: Returning to Campus
"Yo, my genius Lingyun, you finally decided to grace us with your presence in class!" When Lingyun arrived at the classroom, Huang Luo patted Lingyun on the shoulder and said with a smile.
"Do you have any idea how many teachers have you on their radar now? After all, since the start of the semester, you've spent more time on leave than you have in class!" Liu Feng nodded emphatically.
"Uh, I've had a lot going on lately." Lingyun chuckled. "Besides, I have leave slips for all of it; these are legitimate absences! They shouldn't be holding it against me!"
"Don't forget, Professor Lin Heng, who teaches Marxism, is a stubborn old man. He hates students who skip class more than anything. You're already on his list! Now that you've shown up for class today, who knows how he'll deal with you!" Han Yu also said with a look that suggested he should pray for his own luck.
"Don't worry, I haven't been idle during this time. I've heard of this professor long ago. I'm well-prepared for this course!" Lingyun said with a mysterious look.
After the class bell rang, an energetic old man strode into the classroom. This person was the famous professor at Huaxia University—Lin Heng. Although the old man was a bit rigid, he was a highly respected veteran professor in the school, known for his integrity and incorruptibility. He had taught many students who achieved great success in academia, and his pupils were spread far and wide. Anyone at Huaxia University who mentioned him could not help but show deep respect.
Lingyun's gaze fell upon him, and a flash of brilliance crossed his eyes. Perhaps others couldn't tell, but Lingyun could sense that this old professor possessed a powerful, righteous energy within him, with a strength that had reached at least the Xiantian Ultimate realm. Presumably, this professor was one of the guardians hidden within Huaxia University.
After Lin Heng entered the classroom, his gaze landed on Lingyun. Some time ago, the incident involving the Qingshen Tea had caused quite a stir. A large number of experts from foreign forces had perished outside the Villa where Lingyun lived. It was hard to believe that the five girls who appeared during that incident had nothing to do with Lingyun. Moreover, rumors had it that among those five girls, someone addressed Lingyun as Master; thinking about it this way, Lingyun's strength might be even more terrifying than those girls.
Lin Heng's gaze rested on Lingyun, a hint of scrutiny in his eyes. But to his astonishment, with his current strength, he was completely unable to gauge Lingyun's depth.
"This person is a bit strange. Does he have some secret treasure covering his aura, or has his strength already reached a level where even I cannot see through him?" Lin Heng pondered to himself.
However, Lingyun's identity was far too mysterious. The Dragon Group had already dug up all of Lingyun's background information, but in the data they collected, Lingyun's life was far too ordinary. Aside from a sudden burst of progress during his third year of high school, there was nothing special about him. In the eyes of those who cared, this situation only highlighted the mystery of Lingyun's identity even more. To many, this kind of normalcy was the greatest abnormality of all; after all, no one could ever imagine that such a thing could be related to space-time travel.
The class passed by peacefully. Lin Heng did not make things difficult for Lingyun as others had expected; instead, he followed his usual routine of taking attendance and then began his lecture.
Once the bell rang and Lin Heng left, Han Yu quickly leaned over to Lingyun's side and said with a look of surprise: "I say, isn't there something wrong with Professor Lin today? He didn't even roast you? I remember a girl who skipped class without reason a while back, and she was actually scolded to tears by Professor Lin right in the classroom!"
"You said it yourself, that girl skipped without reason. I had legitimate matters for my leave; how can you lump the two together?" Lingyun rolled his eyes at him.
"Hmm, that's true too!" Han Yu nodded thoughtfully.
"By the way, boss, since the fourth one is back, should we find a time to go out and have a meal?" Liu Feng turned his head to say to Huang Luo.
"Good idea. The fourth one was selected by the school to go out and participate in a competition a while ago, so he must be very tired. Let's go out and have a gathering this time; it can count as a welcome-back dinner for the fourth one!" Huang Luo nodded.
"Hey, hey, hey, I just went out for a competition. Do you really need to make such a big deal out of it?" Lingyun asked.
"Pfft, fourth one, don't listen to their nonsense about a welcome-back dinner. It's just that these two guys are greedy and want to go eat at that newly opened barbecue shop outside the school gate!" Han Yu exposed their true motives without hesitation. "The most important point is that there is a very cute girl working there, said to be the shop owner's daughter and also a student at our school. You get it now, right?"
Lingyun's gaze swept across the faces of Huang Luo and Liu Feng, and a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth: "Alright, when are we going?"
"Let's go this afternoon; it'll be a good time for you to get some rest, fourth one!" Huang Luo said.
"Hmm, that works too. We'll meet at the school gate then," Lingyun nodded.
After agreeing on the meeting place and time with his roommates, Lingyun left the classroom and began to stroll around the campus.
"Hmm, I didn't expect to come to this place again!"
As he walked, a small lake suddenly appeared in front of Lingyun. This place was exactly where the Yandao Murasame had been sealed, and at the time, Lingyun had even added another layer of seal over the Sealing Array. Unfortunately, man proposes, God disposes; the array at this location had already been destroyed, and the Demon Blade sealed at the bottom of the lake had long since been taken away.
Extending his Divine Sense and confirming that there was no one around, Lingyun walked to the lakeside and reached his hand into the water. With a soft shout, ripples spread across the previously calm surface.
Specks of blood-red light emerged from the lake water, then gathered bit by bit into Lingyun's palm, finally forming a miniature Samurai Sword in his hand.
Since returning from the Akame ga Kill World, the Samurai Sword in Saeko's hand had been unable to keep up with her progress. After experiencing the Akame ga Kill World, Saeko's strength had made another significant leap, and the Samurai Sword she held had become a burden to her. Therefore, Lingyun had been thinking about finding a suitable weapon for her. Unfortunately, in his existing arsenal, there were no weapons suitable for Saeko; they were either too powerful for her to handle, or they were incompatible with her.
It wasn't until later, when Lingyun discovered the Yandao Murasame in this small lake, that he finally found satisfactory materials. When he set up the array, he had left a contingency plan: while constantly wearing down the power of Murasame, he continuously extracted the purest essence of its power and infused it into the lake water.
Although the array had been broken and the Yandao Murasame had been taken away, it no longer mattered to Lingyun. The power within the miniature Samurai Sword in his hand was already enough for Lingyun to forge a Samurai Sword that Saeko could use now.
Stowing the Samurai Sword into the Cloud Realm, Lingyun stood up and slowly walked away from the place.
