Chapter 316: Displaying Military Might

~8 min read 1,502 words

"Did he really just die like that?" Laogui and Situ stared at each other.

One must know that Duke Naishi's status within the Dark Council was nearly on par with their own status in the Dragon Group. That such a figure could die at the hands of a group of youngsters who looked no older than twenty—if such a thing were told, no one would likely believe it.

The most likely scenario was that the people of the Dark Council would believe that the two of them and Long Lao had acted together to strike him down right here. Even if they told the truth about the situation, few would likely believe it; a group of kids under twenty killing a powerhouse like Duke Naishi? What a joke! The resulting fallout would be immeasurable, and the Dark Council might even launch a crazed retaliation against the Dragon Group.

"That's right, he's dead." Situ nodded. "But haven't you noticed? Their entire operation was a trap laid specifically for Duke Naishi. Duke Naishi had numerous ways to escape; just the few he displayed earlier would have been difficult for even the two of us to block. But did you notice? Each of those girls possessed a skill that countered Duke Naishi's escape, and Lingyun directly shattered Duke Naishi's greatest reliance. In other words, as long as Duke Naishi appeared here, he was absolutely doomed!"

"Hiss—," Laogui couldn't help but gasp.

Watching Lingyun and the others cleaning up the aftermath, his eyes already held a trace of shock: "As far as I know, it's only been a few days since they decided to deal with Duke Naishi, right? In just a few days, they set up such a killing trap, and they themselves possess such terrifying strength. What kind of existence is the power behind this guy to have cultivated such terrifying little monsters?"

"Regardless, we've come for nothing this time." Situ looked at the figures appearing behind them and spoke slowly. "Let's go. There's no great meaning in staying here any longer. What we need to do now is to round up the rest of Duke Naishi's remnants. It is said that when a Vampire dies, their subordinates have a certain chance to inherit the superior's abilities. I don't want another Vampire like Duke Naishi to appear in a few years."

"I say, Situ, do you feel like the other party has a mindset of showing off their military might in front of us?" Laogui suddenly said to Situ.

"Showing off their military might?" Situ couldn't help but frown.

"Don't you realize? Even if they had methods to counter Duke Naishi's escape, they wouldn't have been able to completely wipe him out without sufficient strength. Especially that final move, the Darkness Veil—to break it in an instant, the person who acted must have at least stepped into the Golden Core realm!" Laogui said slowly. "And why did he notify us when Duke Naishi attacked them? At first, I thought it was a call for help, but now it seems that wasn't the case at all!"

"In other words, those four girls are at least all at the Golden Core realm?" Situ sighed softly, wondering what he was thinking. "It seems some people's ideas are destined to never be realized. Having provoked them, even the current Dragon Group might not be able to withstand it. Let's go; this kind of matter is better left to Old Long!"

The two of them, along with the Dragon Guards, quickly left the scene.

"Master, they've left!" After Situ and the others departed, Luo Yexi leaned over to Lingyun and said.

"It's good that they're gone." Lingyun waved his hand dismissively. "What I wanted to convey has already been conveyed. If anyone is still blind enough to crash into us, they will just have to pray for their own luck."

Duke Naishi, the Vampire leader of the Dark Council, infiltrated Huaxia and subsequently fell in that very place. It is said that those who acted were a group of young people no older than twenty. Just one day later, this news shocked the entire Dark World of the world.

Duke Naishi's strength could not be considered the strongest in the world's Dark World, but when it came to saving his life and running away, he was absolutely top-tier. Even the Pope of the Holy See once said that without three or more experts of equal strength acting together, it would be basically impossible to take him down.

"This is impossible. Duke Naishi's escape abilities were witnessed by all of us. I don't believe he would die like this at the hands of a group of little Huaxia brats!" Inside the Dark Council, a tall, burly man slammed his right hand heavily onto the table.

"I also want to convince myself that it was the many experts of the Dragon Group acting together to finish off Duke Naishi, but the facts are as they are. According to the intelligence I've gathered, the strength of that group is at least on the same level as ours—no, perhaps some of them even exceed us." The Council Leader of the Dark Council spoke.

"Exceed us? You mean to say that someone among them has already taken that step?" A flash of shock crossed the big man's eyes.

"Taking that step? That shouldn't be the case, but it is very likely they have already stepped one foot into that threshold." The Council Leader said. "Now that we have lost a Duke, the Holy See might make some moves against us. You all must be extremely careful."

In M Country, inside a massive underground military base.

"Duke Naishi is dead. It is said he died at the hands of a group of Huaxia youngsters. Have you heard about this?" A person wreathed in flames spoke to another.

"Duke Naishi? That damn bat is actually dead?" The man spoke in a muffled voice, suddenly grabbing the fire-man's clothes. A terrifying burst of lightning erupted from his body, instantly destroying the surroundings into a mess. "Who killed him?"

"Don't get excited, don't get excited. I know you've always wanted to kill Duke Naishi with your own hands, but now that he's dead, although not by your hand, your vengeance can be considered fulfilled." The flames on the fire-man surged, dispelling the lightning on his body. "Whether Duke Naishi really died at the hands of those people is still being debated at headquarters. Some say it's a fact, others say it's a smoke bomb released by the Dragon Group. There's no conclusion yet... Hey, hey, hey, Thunder God, what are you doing?"

Seeing the man let go of him and start rummaging through boxes and cabinets to pack, the fire-man asked, dumbfounded.

"I'm going to Huaxia. Regardless of whether this is a smoke bomb released by the Dragon Group or not, I have to verify it. If Duke Naishi really died at the hands of that group, then they are my benefactors." Thunder God said without looking back.

"Uh, Thunder God, you should know that your current identity is very special. If you go to Huaxia rashly, who knows how much trouble it will stir up!" The fire-man said.

"Are you trying to stop me?" Thunder God turned his head to look at the fire-man, lightning dancing around his body, looking ready to fight at the slightest disagreement.

"No, no, no, I don't mean that." Seeing this, the fire-man waved his hands repeatedly.

Thunder God looked at him deeply, then picked up his small bag and walked toward the base's exit.

"This is a disaster. I must tell the Director quickly." Watching Thunder God's back, the fire-man pulled out a special mobile phone and made a call.

"Ruoxi, you said you had a new discovery. What is this new discovery?" In the Cloud Realm, Lingyun looked at Ruoxi in front of him with some curiosity.

"It's this!" Ruoxi flipped her hand, and wisps of blood-red aura appeared in her palm.

"This is... Vampire aura?" Lingyun frowned slightly. "No, there is a very special aura within this."

"That's right. I hope you, Brother, can help me complete the Vampire abilities. But the Vampire bloodline in this world is far too impure, so I can only rely on you, Brother." Ruoxi said with a smile.

"Can't you complete it yourself?" Lingyun asked with some confusion.

"There is only fragmented information about Vampires in this world now. To complete it, one would have to pay a huge price and spend a long time." Ruoxi said with a bitter little face.

"So you just want to be lazy, right?" Lingyun flicked Ruoxi's forehead in annoyance.

"Hee hee, Brother, you will definitely help me, won't you?" Ruoxi said, hugging Lingyun's arm.

"I knew it. Tell me, where is it this time?" Lingyun said helplessly.

"The world is already being locked onto. When the time comes, I'll be counting on you, Brother." Ruoxi hugged Lingyun's arm tighter, a sweet smile appearing on her face.
