Chapter 533: The Dazed Little Girl

~6 min read 1,084 words

"Hmm, what is this?"

Suddenly, Lingyun stopped in his tracks and looked ahead.

In front of the Seikyo stood a fountain with a unique and ingenious design, and a bicycle was circling it incessantly.

Sitting on the bicycle was a girl of an age similar to Xiaona, her golden-silver hair fluttering in the wind and shimmering under the crimson glow of the setting sun.

However, what truly caught Lingyun's attention was the aura hidden within the girl, similar to the children in Lingyun Town. This girl was also a Cursed Child.

The girl was enveloped in a slightly disheveled pajama set, wearing slippers on her feet, and her golden-silver hair was a mess, as if it had never been groomed at all. She half-squinted her eyes, her mouth half-open, pedaling the wobbly bicycle with an entranced expression. Looking at the degree to which the bicycle was swaying, it seemed as if it could fall over at any moment.

Watching the little girl riding the bicycle like a sleepwalker, the people around her kept their distance, terrified of getting involved with her.

Gazing at the little girl, Lingyun frowned slightly. He noticed three blonde youths who looked like hoodlums approaching the girl with malicious smiles.

After a moment of thought, Lingyun quickened his pace and arrived at the little girl's side.

Seeing someone approach the little girl, the three hoodlums exchanged glances and then turned to leave. They had seen clearly that this person had walked out of the Seikyo. Regardless of who this person was, anyone capable of entering the Seikyo was someone they could not afford to provoke, so it was better to stay away.

The dazed little girl clearly had not realized that someone had appeared beside her, but the bicycle beneath her began to wobble violently before suddenly tipping over to one side.

Just as the bicycle fell, Lingyun reached out and scooped the little girl, who had yet to come to her senses, directly into his arms.

"Mm, where's my bicycle?" the little girl muttered somewhat strangely while being held by Lingyun, reaching out her hand as if to grab something.

"Even if you're dazed, there should be a limit to it!" Lingyun looked at the girl in his arms with a helpless expression. "If I hadn't caught you, you would be lying on the ground with your bike right now."

"Mm, does this count as a hero saving a damsel..." the little girl muttered.

"Hero saving a damsel? What kind of things are you thinking about in that little head of yours?" Lingyun reached out and tapped the little girl's forehead.

"Sit still and don't move!"

Looking at the slightly unkempt little girl in his arms, Lingyun sighed helplessly and then placed her on the bench by the fountain. Afterward, he stretched out his hands and began to tidy up the little girl's appearance.

Lingyun groomed the little girl's clothes with extreme proficiency, then began to manage her messy hair. In just a few seconds, the slightly disheveled hair was smoothed out by Lingyun, and then he used a hair ribbon he had produced from who knows where to tie it into two small braids.

"Mm, you feel so practiced!"

"That's because I have a group of children just like you around me; after taking care of them for so long, practice naturally makes perfect!"

"That sounds so amazing!" the little girl said.

"There." Lingyun reached out and patted the girl's head. "Why are you here all by yourself? Where is your family? How could they let you run around in your pajamas while half-asleep?"

"Family..." Hearing Lingyun's words, the girl couldn't help but fall silent.

Seeing the girl's reaction, Lingyun knew she didn't want to bring up that aspect, so he immediately changed the question: "What is your name?"

"Me?" For some reason, a flash of hesitation crossed the girl's dazed eyes, but the next second she immediately raised her head and said, "My name is Tina, Tina Sprout. And what is your name, big brother?"

"Tina?" Lingyun whispered. "My name is Lingyun. Hmm, why do you call me big brother?"

"Is it not allowed?" Tina's tone was somewhat disappointed.

"This, of course, is no problem at all!" Lingyun comforted her. "It's getting late, and I have to go. Do you need me to take you home?"

Tina hesitated for a moment, then finally shook her head slightly: "No need, big brother, phone number!"

"Phone number?" Lingyun couldn't help but be stunned for a moment, not quite understanding Tina's erratic train of thought.

"Phone number!" Tina repeated.

"Alright, alright!" Lingyun recited his phone number.

Tina repeated Lingyun's phone number, then turned around quickly and pulled her phone out of her pocket to operate it.

Before long, the phone in Lingyun's pocket rang.

"Uh, was that necessary?" Lingyun asked.

"I thought you gave me a fake phone number, big brother!" Tina said with a straight face, but paired with her sleepy, dazed appearance, it felt particularly unconvincing.

"Why would I do that?" Lingyun said helplessly.

"Today really was a pleasant day!" Tina, having put away her phone, flashed a beautiful smile at Lingyun.

After saying this, Tina jumped down from the bench. Seeing her wobbly state, Lingyun immediately reached out his hand to steady her.

"Big brother really is a considerate person!" Tina muttered. "If I call you, big brother, you must answer, and then come find me!"

"As for that, as long as I'm free, Tina is welcome to come find me anytime!" Lingyun said. "But if I'm not free, then I'm sorry; after all, adults have many things to be busy with!"

"But big brother doesn't look like an adult at all!" Tina said.

"One shouldn't judge by appearances!" Lingyun reached out and knocked on Tina's little head.

"I'm going now!" Tina said to Lingyun.

"Do you need me to take you back?" Lingyun asked again.

"No need, I know the way home!" Tina tilted her head and bowed to Lingyun.

Lingyun stood where he was, watching her wobbly figure, and sighed helplessly. Not until Tina's figure disappeared from his sight did he turn around and head toward Lingyun Town.

"Big brother Lingyun has a kind of aura that makes people feel very at ease!" Tina walked down the street, and although her body swayed, there was not the slightest trace of her about to fall. "We'll be able to meet again in the future, perhaps..."

Tina's voice grew lower and lower, gradually dissipating into the wind.
