Chapter 646: Lingyun's Request

In the courtyard, Feike was introducing some interesting places in the Light Holy City to Lingyun and the others.

Suddenly, in front of them, a massive amount of Light Element continuously converged, causing the entire space to distort. Immediately, two figures appeared before everyone.

Upon seeing the newcomers, Feike's expression changed slightly, and he immediately knelt on one knee: "Knight Commander Feike, greets Your Holiness the Pope."

"The Pope?"

Hearing Feike's form of address, everyone present was quite astonished. It must be known that the Pope of this generation of the Light Church was, in a sense, a total shut-in. Although his strength was unfathomable, he spent the vast majority of his time hiding in the Shengdian and rarely appeared before others. But now, the Light Pope had actually left the Shengdian, which was extremely rare, so they could not help but be surprised.

Feike's mind was currently unable to process this; what on earth had happened when Shalier went out to carry out the Pope's mission that it actually caused the Pope to personally come forward to inquire about such a matter?

"Mohan greets His Holiness the Pope."

Mohan and the others also bowed slightly to the Pope; this was a sign of respect for a powerhouse.

However, the Pope's attention was not on them; his gaze was fixed intently on Lingyun, his eyes filled with disbelief.

Yet, Mohan could certainly understand this situation. During the Millennium Holy War, the Light Church was the strongest force fighting against the Demon World's army, and the enmity between them and the Demon Race was the deepest. Now that Demon Qi had actually appeared within their Sacred Gear, they could not help but be vigilant.

After a while, the Pope finally spoke: "I wonder, Your Excellency, which one of those six great figures are you?"

"The six great figures?" Question marks appeared on the foreheads of many people present; clearly, they did not know who the six great figures the Pope spoke of were.

"I am not any one of the six, but I do indeed have a significant connection with them," Lingyun shook his head slightly.

"So that is how it is?" A trace of disappointment flashed in the Pope's eyes.

However, he dared not show the slightest neglect toward Lingyun. After all, Lingyun looked so similar to those six great figures, and his name was the same as the name of the six great figures' mercenary group; if there were no connection between these two parties, it was almost impossible. Especially that ability to stack a Double Domain when he took action on the Holy Knight Sword—he had once seen such a scene on a precious Recording Stone left behind by the Light Church; it was one of the secret techniques jointly performed by the Aurora Sword Saint and the Red Sun Sword Saint, which had a massive destructive effect on Demon Qi. That Lingyun could perform such a move alone made him even more certain of this point.

Immediately, his expression became serious. He made a beckoning gesture, and the aforementioned Holy Knight Sword appeared in his hand.

"Mr. Lingyun, Shalier has already shown me the Recording Stone, but I am still very surprised that Demon Qi could be hidden within the Holy Knight Sword. I wonder if you could demonstrate it for us again?"

"I can." Lingyun did not hesitate and nodded directly.

When he was purging the Demon Qi earlier, he had discovered that the Holy Knight Sword being invaded by Demon Qi was not something that happened during the Millennium Holy War, but something that had occurred recently. Linking this to the events that had taken place during this period, Lingyun felt he already understood the reason for this situation.

Having received Lingyun's reply, the Pope waved his hand, and six Sacred Gears appeared simultaneously before Lingyun.

Lingyun swept his gaze over the several Sacred Gears, then pushed two of them away: "These two are in this state because they were exhausted too much during the Millennium Holy War. As long as they are repaired, they should be able to recover four or five tenths of their power."

Subsequently, Lingyun pushed out a shield: "The internal structure of this shield has been completely destroyed; even if one were to repair it, it cannot be fixed."

Finally, Lingyun looked at the remaining three Sacred Gears and slowly extended his hands. In his hands, the Purification Light and the Red Lotus Karmic Fire appeared simultaneously.

Seeing this scene, the Pope could not help but become excited. In the past, he could only admire this unique skill in the Recording Stone, but now, this unique skill was appearing truly and realistically before him.

The Double Domain reappeared, and the golden-red Domain instantly enveloped the three Sacred Gears. Under the scorching of the Double Domain, wisps of Demon Qi slowly seeped out from the Sacred Gears, and were subsequently ground into nothingness.

Upon seeing the Demon Qi appear, the Pope's pupils constricted, and a trace of disbelief appeared in his eyes as well. If there had still been a shred of wishful thinking in his heart before, then the scene appearing now completely tore that shred of wishful thinking to pieces.

"This is, the legendary, Demon Qi?" The moment he saw the Demon Qi appear, Feike felt the hairs on his body stand up, as if he had encountered a natural enemy.

"The situation is likely troublesome." The Pope watched as the last wisp of Demon Qi was forced out, his tone carrying a trace of helplessness.

The Sacred Gears, having had the last wisp of Demon Qi forced out, emitted a hum almost simultaneously, radiating a powerful aura.

"Actually, it is not just the Church that has encountered this situation; in fact, not long ago, Demon Qi also appeared in the Luoxia Valley of our Dwarf Race," Mohan said, looking at the Sacred Gears in front of Lingyun.

"Your Dwarf Race also encountered the same situation?" The Pope furrowed his brows and looked toward Mohan. "But why have I not heard of this matter?"

"This matter did not last very long, and it has already been resolved. In that incident, little brother Lingyun could be said to have rendered a great service. If Your Holiness the Pope trusts me, then why not let Mr. Lingyun take a look to see exactly what has happened," Mohan said to the Pope.

"The matter has already been resolved?" A trace of doubt flashed in the Pope's eyes, followed by pleasant surprise.

Regardless, Lingyun very likely had a deep connection with the legendary Lingyun Mercenary Group, and he could tell at a glance that the condition of these Sacred Gears was caused by an invasion of Demon Qi. Thus, his understanding of Demon Qi must far exceed his own. If he handed this matter over to him, perhaps he could really find some useful clues.

"Regarding this matter, I wonder if Mr. Lingyun would be able to lend a hand?" The Pope asked Lingyun.

Lingyun nodded. The reason he had come here with Mohan was precisely to resolve the Demon Qi problem here, and at the same time, to retrieve his own Light Holy Sword.

"Then I wonder what resources or manpower Mr. Lingyun needs? I will do my best to satisfy them," the Pope asked.

Lingyun did not answer the Pope directly, but instead asked: "I heard that the Church has a Holy Sword that is being venerated?"

"That is correct. The Church does indeed have such a Holy Sword; it is said to have been brought back by the first Pope after the Millennium Holy War. According to the records he left behind, this sword is very likely the personal sword of the Lord God of Light, so this Holy Sword has always been venerated in the Holy Church," the Pope said.

"Good. I have one condition. Provided this condition is met, it is not very difficult to resolve this matter," Lingyun said.

"What... what condition?"

"I want to go to a place!"

"What place?"

"The Holy Church!"
