Chapter 668: The Swordsman and the Nightmare
"Lingyun, I'm back!" Tokisaki Kurumi hung onto Lingyun and said with a grin.
"Looking at you like this, you must have had a pretty good harvest," Lingyun said with a smile.
"That's right, I've already found the location of the Second Spirit," Tokisaki Kurumi said. "That place is on Nilier Island in the center of the Pacific Ocean!"
"Nilier Island in the center of the Pacific?" Lingyun raised an eyebrow. "You didn't go there secretly to scout it out, did you?"
"No, I just quietly lurked around the perimeter of that island," Tokisaki Kurumi shook her head slightly. "Although I wasn't able to sneak onto the island, I did notice some of the facilities on it."
"Some of the facilities on the island?"
"That's right, that island is covered in Realizers, and these Realizers have a great suppressive effect on Spirit power. At the same time, the island seems to have extremely top-tier Spirit power monitoring devices; I only released a tiny bit of Spirit power at the time, and it triggered an alarm," Tokisaki Kurumi said. "Also, there are a large number of robotic Pawns on the island. I sensed several powerful auras on the island; they might be top-tier Wizards capable of controlling Realizers."
"It seems the defenses on this island are still very strict," Lingyun said.
"By the way, thanks to those children, I successfully cracked some of DEM's internal data and learned that the highest-level material they are currently researching is called Material A, and this Material A is now on Nilier Island," Tokisaki Kurumi said. "And this Material A should be the codename for the Second Spirit. When I was lurking around Nilier Island, I once received a wave of Spirit power; this wave of Spirit power was essentially a distress signal sent out by the Second Spirit, and this kind of signal should only be receivable by Spirits or people who possess Spirit power."
"Once the location is confirmed, things are much easier to handle," Lingyun said.
"However, with my current strength, I cannot rescue the Second Spirit trapped on Nilier Island," Tokisaki Kurumi shook her head and said.
"Didn't you say you could deal with the First Spirit?" Lingyun raised an eyebrow.
"For that, I meant that when I borrow the power of the Cloud Realm and your power, I can exhaust all my strength and use human-sea tactics to defeat the First Spirit, but I don't want to expose this trump card yet. Under normal circumstances, my clones are not difficult for them to deal with, and in my current state, I don't have much of a chance of winning against those few top-tier Wizards. Most importantly, I sensed a kind of aura on that island that I find very disgusting," Tokisaki Kurumi said with a frown.
"A very disgusting aura?" Lingyun's tone already carried a hint of gravity.
"That's right, that kind of aura that I find so disgusting is similar to the aura of the entity that injured me before," Tokisaki Kurumi said.
"Almost forgot, there is still a part of the Underworld King's power from the end lurking in this world! It seems we won't be short of things to do during this time," Lingyun said. "Let's find a time to go to that Nilier Island and resolve the matter there once and for all!"
"I've been waiting for you to say that!" A smile of successful planning appeared on Tokisaki Kurumi's face.
"You!" Lingyun tapped Tokisaki Kurumi's forehead lightly, his tone carrying a trace of helplessness.
"Big brother, who is this?" Just at this moment, a timid voice came.
Lingyun turned his head to look; it turned out that Yoshino had appeared by his side at some point, gently tugging on his sleeve.
"Eh, Yoshino?" Kurumi saw Yoshino, and there was a hint of confusion in her tone. "Lingyun, when did you run into Yoshino, and you even brought her home?"
"Yoshino, let me introduce you; this is Tokisaki Kurumi, and in a sense, she can be considered your older sister," Lingyun said to Yoshino with a smile.
"Tokisaki Kurumi? Kurumi-nee-san?" Yoshino looked at Tokisaki Kurumi, her tone carrying a hint of timidity. "Kurumi-nee-san seems to have an aura similar to big brother's."
"What a truly cute child!" Tokisaki Kurumi squatted down and looked at Yoshino with a beaming smile. "From now on, I will be your sister. If anyone bullies my cute Yoshino, I will absolutely drag them all into the City of Devouring Time!"
While Tokisaki Kurumi and Yoshino were meeting officially for the first time in the small shop, Itsuka Kotori on the Fraxinus urgently summoned Itsuka Shido and all the crew members for a meeting.
"Kotori, did something happen?" Looking at the serious-faced Itsuka Kotori, Itsuka Shido asked cautiously.
"Something did happen, and it's not just an ordinary matter," Itsuka Kotori bit on her lollipop, her eyes holding a hint of unprecedented gravity. "Reine, show the report we received to the others."
"Yes." Murasame Reine nodded, then opened the large screen; on the screen was a report.
The content of the report was very simple, but the information it contained made everyone present somewhat shocked.
"According to the report, the Spirit power fluctuation of the newly appeared Swordsman is exactly the same as the Nightmare that appeared before," Itsuka Kotori said.
"Nightmare? Why would a Spirit take such a codename, and I have never heard the name of this Spirit before?" Itsuka Shido asked with some confusion.
"Nightmare, the most dangerous Spirit to have appeared so far." Mentioning the name Nightmare, even Itsuka Kotori's tone gained a hint of gravity. "According to the intelligence we have collected so far, the number of people killed by her own hands has already exceeded ten thousand. As for those killed by her without us finding evidence, it is even impossible to estimate."
"This, what kind of joke is this!" Looking at the smiling girl in the picture, Itsuka Shido could not believe in any way that this could be a person with hands stained with blood.
"Although it is hard for us to believe, this is the news I received from headquarters, and it absolutely cannot be wrong," Itsuka Kotori said. "However, there is one very important thing, and that is that Nightmare has been missing for a period of time, and now some people are wondering if Nightmare has been eliminated."
"Eliminated?" Itsuka Shido and Murasame Reine at his side spoke almost at the same time, but their thoughts were clearly different.
"Regardless, the most important thing now is to investigate clearly what kind of connection there is between the Swordsman and the Nightmare," Itsuka Kotori slapped the table and made a decision.
"But, after the Swordsman appeared once, he never appeared again, and Nightmare lost her trail not long ago; how are we supposed to investigate?" A crew member said with some difficulty.
"No, we currently have a direction for investigation!" Itsuka Kotori held up a finger.
"What direction?" A hint of confusion appeared on the faces of everyone present.
