Chapter 732: The Stolen Holy Sword
Hearing Lingyun's words, a trace of surprise appeared on Luweisi's face.
One must know that Luweisi had always hidden his own power very well; even when the Elf Queen first met him, she had been unable to discern which lineage of the Dragon Race he belonged to. But now, he had merely manifested his dragon might in front of Lingyun, and Lingyun had been able to state his true form directly; this was truly something he had never seen before.
"Father, now is not the time to talk about this; let us hurry to find the envoy of the Sea Race. Lingyun said before that the Water Holy Sword is in the hands of the Sea Race, and this time the riot of the sea beasts is related to the Demon Qi sealed within the Water Holy Sword. As long as we find the Water Holy Sword, the matter of the sea beasts will be much easier to resolve!" Daiweina said.
"I understand. Everyone, please, the envoy of the Sea Race has been waiting for a long time!" Luweisi said.
The place where the Sea Race envoy was located was not very far from where Lingyun and the others had teleported in; before long, a water-blue building appeared before everyone.
"That is where the Sea Race envoy lives!" Daiweina said.
In front of the building stood a woman draped in a water-blue priest's robe. In her hand, the woman held a Scepter that seemed to be polished from blue crystal; even without getting close, Lingyun and the others could feel the powerful magic contained within that Scepter.
"I am very happy to see you all, guests from the Continent." When Lingyun's party arrived before her, the woman bowed to Lingyun and the others and said.
"Mermaid Race, Sea God Priest?" Lingyun looked at the woman before him, his brows slightly raised.
"Wow, Lingyun, you are so amazing, you were actually able to see through Mona's identity at a glance?" Daiweina leaned in beside Lingyun and asked with some astonishment.
"Aside from the Sea God himself, only the Sea God Priest under his command can control the Sea God Scepter," Lingyun said indifferently.
Lingyun was not at all unfamiliar with the Scepter in Mona's hand; after all, this Scepter was something the Biyang Sword Saint had crafted incidentally while forging the Water Holy Sword. In a certain sense, the two weapons could be said to originate from the same source. It was only later that the Sea God paid a not-insignificant price to trade with the Biyang Sword Saint to obtain it, only then renaming it the Sea God Scepter.
"Does Sir recognize the Sea God Scepter?" Mona asked in surprise.
"The Sea God Scepter and the Water Holy Sword originate from the same source, so naturally I recognize it!" Lingyun nodded and said. "However, the Sea God Scepter seems to be damaged; could it be that something happened?"
Hearing Lingyun say this, Mona could not help but give a bitter smile: "That is correct, a major incident did indeed occur within the Sea Race previously, and the cause of the matter was the Water Holy Sword!"
"The cause was the Water Holy Sword?" Daiweina was somewhat astonished.
"That is correct. When the sea beasts rioted, His Majesty the Sea King discovered the signs. Subsequently, he discovered that the source of the matter was the strange aura leaking from the Sea Race's supreme holy sword." Daiweina said. "In order to stop this, His Majesty the Sea King went to the Sea God Temple, wanting to borrow the power of the Sea God to suppress the supreme holy sword. But when suppressing the supreme holy sword, a major incident occurred."
"The supreme holy sword, is that the Water Holy Sword?" Chen Jing asked.
"From the current perspective, I am afraid that is the case." Mona nodded.
"That's not right. I remember that the strength of that old fellow, the Sea King, is no lower than mine. How come I haven't seen him appear for this entire time? Could it be that something happened to him?" Luweisi asked.
"His Majesty the Sea King was severely injured and is currently recuperating; he is unable to go into battle!" Mona's single sentence caused the faces of those present to change slightly.
The Sea King was one of the top powerhouses on this Continent; now that he was actually severely injured, and while in the sea, even Luweisi did not have the confidence that he could accomplish such a thing.
"Who could possibly injure that fellow Enuosi?"
"When the Sea God Temple and the Sea King were suppressing the supreme holy sword, a strange sea beast attacked the Sea God Temple. His Majesty Enuosi was injured precisely in the battle with that sea beast! After injuring His Majesty Enuosi, that sea beast almost destroyed the Sea God Temple, and at the same time, it snatched away the Water Holy Sword!"
"Injured Enuosi and destroyed the Sea God Temple—is the strength of that sea beast really that terrifying?" Even Luweisi could not help but furrow his brows. "I remember that around the Sea God Temple, there is a Protective Array left behind by the Sea God before he left this Continent. Could that sea beast destroy this Array?"
"That is correct. At the final moment, our Sea God Temple activated the ultimate means left behind by the Sea God in the Sea God Temple. Borrowing the power of the Sea God and the Sea God Scepter, we launched the Sea God's Wrath and severely wounded that sea beast. And the Sea God Scepter was also damaged while clashing with that sea beast."
"To be able to retreat unscathed after contending with the Sea God's Wrath, while simultaneously causing damage to the Sea God Scepter—the strength of that sea beast is likely already at the god-level!" A hoarse voice rang out in everyone's ears.
Everyone turned their heads to look, and on a large rock, an old man with white hair had appeared at some unknown time. Everyone felt a shock in their hearts; the people here were not ordinary, yet no one had noticed the appearance of this old man.
"Father?" When Luweisi saw this old man, his expression also changed slightly, and he walked a few quick steps to the old man's side. "Why have you come?"
"With such a major incident happening to the Sea Race, how could we old fellows sit still? Who would have thought that after the Millennium Holy War, a god-level existence would appear on this Continent so quickly, and it is highly likely to be our enemy!" The old man shook his head and said.
"No, the opponent is not necessarily a god-level existence." Lingyun suddenly said.
"If not a god, then how could they possess the power to contend with a god?" The old man asked with some confusion.
"If not a god, why can they not have the power to contend with a god?" Lingyun chuckled and said. "Moreover, if the opponent were truly a god, the Sea God Scepter would not be damaged, but shattered. And the opponent would not have been able to leave successfully, but should have been a corpse on the spot!"
"What does this mean?" The old man asked.
"May I borrow the Sea God Scepter to take a look?" Lingyun asked Mona.
Mona hesitated for a moment, then handed the Sea God Scepter to Lingyun.
Lingyun took the Sea God Scepter and struck it against the ground. The previously dim Sea God Scepter suddenly erupted with water-blue light, and a heart-palpitating aura emanated from it. The instant this aura appeared, the old man, like a mouse seeing a cat, darted away dozens of meters, looking at the Sea God Scepter in Lingyun's hand with horror.
"This..." Mona covered her mouth in surprise. As the Sea God Priest, this Sea God Scepter had been by her side for nearly a hundred years, but she had never known that the Sea God Scepter possessed such power.
"The Sea God Scepter is no low-level Sacred Gear; it is a divine weapon that the Sea God obtained from the Biyang Sword Saint at a not-insignificant price. If that sea beast were truly a god, it would have triggered the God-Slaying Power within this Scepter—that is a means that even the Sea God would have to avoid. Under such an offensive, I do not believe that the sea beast, already severely wounded by the Sea God's Wrath, could have withstood it." Lingyun said indifferently, while returning the Scepter in his hand to Mona.
"This..." Watching the power begin to subside and the Sea God Scepter, which now had not a single scratch on it, Mona felt somewhat confused; clearly, she did not understand why an outsider knew more about the Sea God Scepter than she did.
"I wonder if Lady Mona could describe the appearance of that sea beast to me? I would like to verify my thoughts." Lingyun said.
"Oh, okay!" Having shaken off her confused state, Mona nodded hurriedly, then with a wave of her hand, a light screen unfolded before everyone.
