Chapter 74: Slaughtering the Vampire
From the food stalls to Modu University, there is a rather dim alleyway. This alley is a shortcut back to the back gate of Modu University; because it is too remote, there are no surveillance cameras present.
After the girl paid her bill at the food stall, she walked through this very alley, presumably to return to school as quickly as possible. Seeing the girl enter the dim alley, Laolun's eyes lit up instantly. He knew that Modu was currently loose on the outside but tight on the inside; if he were to perform any outrageous actions in a place with surveillance cameras, there was no guarantee that people from the Dragon Group wouldn't appear before him the next moment. Now that his prey had walked into a blind spot for the cameras all on her own, wasn't that just handing him an opportunity?
Seeing Laolun quietly follow behind the girl into the alley, Lingyun frowned slightly. This was the best opportunity to take out this Vampire. However, although fighting in the alley would not attract too much attention, if the opponent escaped the alley and exposed him, he would inevitably have a lot of trouble in the future.
After thinking for a while, Lingyun quietly walked to a surveillance blind spot where no one was around, his figure twisting slightly. When looking at him again, Lingyun had already changed his appearance. After changing his looks, Lingyun's figure flashed and disappeared from where he stood.
In the alley, Laolun followed behind the girl, his eyes full of intoxication. One must know that within the Dark Council, he was not a person of very high status, and the blood-food he usually received could not be of very high quality. Blood-food of the same level as this girl was something even his direct superior might not necessarily be able to enjoy.
"This is truly a gift from Cain to me." A trace of a smile appeared on Laolun's face.
However, he soon discovered something wrong. This place was clearly an ordinary alley, so why had he been walking for so long without seeing the end?
At the exit of the alley, the girl had already run out. Just a moment ago, she felt as if she were being watched by something, only feeling a numbness in her back, and she couldn't help but run quickly out of the alley. After running out of the alley, the girl finally breathed a sigh of relief and walked toward the back gate of Modu University.
"No, it's a trap!" After walking a few more steps, Laolun's heart tightened. One must know that this was a quiet alley, and he had not concealed the sound of his footsteps, yet the girl in front had shown no reaction at all; this was the most suspicious part.
Standing above the alley, looking down at Laolun, who was cautiously looking around, Lingyun nodded slightly. He was worthy of being an expert sent to Huaxia; this level of alertness alone was enough to prove he was extraordinary. One must know that Lingyun had set up a Maze Array and an Illusion Array in this alley, and an ordinary Mysterious Tier Initial Stage could not detect anything abnormal. Since the opponent had already discovered that something was wrong, Lingyun prepared to strike; after all, this Array was something he had set up temporarily and could not last for long.
With a "hiss," a sharp sword light lit up from his side, and Laolun felt the crisis of death in this sword light. At the critical moment of life and death, Laolun violently tilted his body, and with a splash of blood, a huge wound appeared on his body. Looking in front of him again, the girl had already disappeared.
"Who is it?" Laolun let out a sharp shout. He discovered that this sword radiance that had wounded him contained an inexplicable power that suppressed his own strength, making his Vampire recovery ability useless.
A person walked out from the shadows, holding a Long sword in their hand, with wisps of golden light scattering from the blade.
"People from the Dragon Group, I have no grudges against you; I am just here for travel, why are you attacking me?" Laolun's eyes rolled, and he said in a deep voice. He was certain that he had not exposed his tracks, and the people from the Dragon Group absolutely did not know he was someone who had snuck in here.
Lingyun looked at Laolun's appearance; how could he not know his thoughts? A cold sneer curled at the corner of his mouth: "First, let me tell you, I am not a person from the Dragon Group. As for why I am attacking you, there is no need for you to know..."
Before Lingyun finished speaking, Laolun's eyes had already turned into beast pupils, and he stomped his right foot on the ground, charging toward Lingyun. The nails on his right hand elongated, blood-red light flickering, stabbing straight toward Lingyun's abdomen. Lingyun waved the Long sword in his hand, the blade blocking Laolun's right hand.
Failing the first strike, Laolun turned his palm into a claw, crazily grabbing at Lingyun. Lingyun waved the Long sword in his hand repeatedly, blocking Laolun's attacks one after another.
The more Laolun fought, the more alarmed he became. The person in front of him looked less than twenty years old, yet his strength was not inferior to his own. When did such a genius appear in Huaxia? After Lingyun exchanged blows with Laolun for a while, he already had a bottom line in his heart: the Vampires of this world did not seem to have anything too special, only having bonuses in recovery and speed.
Forcing Laolun back with one sword strike, Lingyun slightly sensed the Array he had set up; the time it could persist was not long, so he should finish the battle quickly. Lingyun channeled the Source Power within his body, flashed to appear in front of Laolun, and slashed down with his sword, wisps of golden light appearing on the blade.
Laolun did not dare to be negligent; he flipped his hand, and a blood-colored dagger appeared in his hand, blocking Lingyun's Long sword. Amidst a splash of sparks, Laolun stared dumbfounded at the dagger in his hand; it had been cut into two pieces, and Lingyun's sword edge had already pressed against his body, causing another huge wound on him.
"Damn it, this sword is strange!" Laolun's gaze fell on Lingyun's Long sword, his eyes full of gravity.
"Don't think about escaping; in this Array, you cannot escape!" Lingyun sneered, a golden light already appearing on the Long sword, and he swung the sword at Laolun.
Laolun was greatly alarmed in his heart, throwing the dagger in his hand violently at Lingyun while his figure retreated rapidly. At the same time, he hated inwardly: if he hadn't been wounded by a Light Knight, causing his strength to drop significantly now, why would he be in such a sorry state?
Lingyun tilted his body, avoiding the dagger. Laolun's body swayed, turning into a swarm of bats and scattering in all directions. Although every bat killed would cause him to lose a portion of his strength, it was better than being killed.
Watching the scattering bats, Lingyun's expression remained unchanged, and he withdrew the Long sword in his hand. With a flick of his left hand, several Talismans appeared, which he threw toward the direction of the bat swarm. The Talismans burned rapidly in mid-air, turning into individual Fireballs. The Fireballs fell into the bat swarm and exploded violently. Amidst a series of screams, more than half of the bat swarm in the sky turned into fly ash.
At the same time, Lingyun rushed forward, his Long sword continuously throwing out streaks of Sword Qi, cutting the remaining bats into two pieces. After the last bat was cut in two, a burst of blood light erupted from its body, shooting toward Lingyun; it was presumably Laolun's full-force strike before death.
Lingyun narrowed his eyes and threw out several Fireball Talismans in succession. The blood light pierced through several Fireballs in a row, having dimmed quite a bit by the time it reached Lingyun. Lingyun reached out with the Long sword in his hand, shredding the blood light that had reached him into fragments.
The Vampire had been eliminated, and the temporarily set-up Array in the surroundings could not last much longer. Lingyun put away the Long sword, leaped, and disappeared into the alley, leaving only a ground full of bats. After Lingyun disappeared, the bats on the ground quickly turned into fly ash and vanished.
