Chapter 885: The Goddess's Surprise

~7 min read 1,201 words

On the outskirts of the Hero Tomb, at the garrison.

"Laobobo, have you gathered the intelligence clearly?" A person clad in battle armor looked with a grave expression at an old man emerging from the shadows.

"General, the situation is dire; I fear we are about to face great trouble!" The old man shook his head, his tone filled with gravity.

"Great trouble? What kind of great trouble?"

"I saw skeletons covering the mountains and plains, interspersed with a large number of high-level undead. With just our group, we might not even be enough to fill the gaps between their teeth!" Laobobo coughed and said.

"You are injured?" The general's gaze fell upon Laobobo's arm, and his pupils involuntarily constricted.

Laobobo's right hand had become completely withered, and a faint scent of rotting flesh wafted from it.

"Heh, I'm getting old, and my movements aren't as nimble as they used to be. I wasn't careful enough and fell into their trap." Laobobo took a Scroll out from his Space Ring and tore it open with force.

A soft Holy Light shone upon Laobobo's arm, and a wisp of blue smoke rose from it. Laobobo's face twisted slightly; clearly, this purification process was not pleasant.

However, this condition vanished quickly. The power of the Holy Light Scroll was quite formidable, directly driving out all the undead energy from Laobobo's arm.

"If it weren't for this incident, it really wouldn't be easy to buy a purification scroll of this level!" Laobobo sighed and said.

After the Undead Calamity appeared on a large scale, the Light Church went into full production, manufacturing large quantities of Holy Light Purification Scrolls and deploying them to various battlefields. With these Holy Light Scrolls, they managed to curb many of the undead's offensives.

"Although we are equipped with quite a few Holy Light Purification Scrolls here, they are still far from enough to deal with those skeletons!" Laobobo's tone held a hint of gravity.

"Then what should we do now?" Hearing Laobobo's words, the general panicked for a moment.

"For now, besides fighting to the death, we can only wait for reinforcements." Laobobo shook his head and said.

"Fight to the death? Wait for reinforcements?" A bitter smile involuntarily appeared on the general's lips. "Fight to the death? With what are we supposed to fight? Wait for reinforcements? The entire Continent is currently dealing with the Undead Calamity; where could reinforcements possibly come from to support this place in time?"

"Then we hold. We hold for as long as we can! If we cannot hold, I would rather bear the infamy of destroying the Hero Tomb than let the heroes sleeping there become members of those who destroy this Continent!" A sharp light flashed in Laobobo's eyes.

"I understand. I will have everyone hold the line until the very last moment!" The general gritted his teeth, a ferocious expression appearing on his face. "I want to see how those damned bone piles intend to trample over me!"

Elf Temple.

Aiweier and Feiou'na stared in a daze at the thirty Cursed Children who had appeared beside Lingyun.

"Lingyun, you say these are the people assisting us? They are just children, and there are only thirty of them. Can they hold back those brutal undead?" Oufeina's mouth hung open, her eyes filled with disbelief.

"Don't underestimate us, big sister!" Xiaona glanced at Oufeina, her pupils turning scarlet in an instant.

Feeling the aura gradually rising from Xiaona, both Aiweier and Oufeina wore expressions of surprise. They knew that just a moment ago, in their perception, the aura of this group of Cursed Children hadn't even reached the Saint Domain, but in this instant, Xiaona's aura had climbed to the Heavenly Domain.

She had only ever seen this kind of situation in Lingyun before; she hadn't expected that these thirty children before her would actually possess such ability. However, even if these thirty Cursed Children were all at the Heavenly Domain, they would still be vulnerable when facing a skeleton army hiding a large number of high-level undead.

"This isn't their full state. Besides, they are only the vanguard; others will arrive later." Lingyun reached out and patted Xiaona's head. "By the way, how is the setup of the Space Array going?"

Xiaona, having her head patted by Lingyun, couldn't help but squint her eyes, a look of contentment appearing on her face.

"It has been set up. We are currently contacting the supreme commander of the garrison there," Andiya said.

Just at this moment, a light screen suddenly unfolded before everyone, and a figure appeared in front of them.

The general looked at the figure before him and couldn't help but swallow hard. He had never dreamed that one day he would be able to see the legendary Goddesses, and more than one at that.

"What is the situation on your side now?" Oufeina asked directly, getting straight to the point.

"Reporting to the Goddess, the skeleton army has already approached our garrison. All our soldiers have decided to fight the undead to the death; we will never allow the enemy to desecrate the bones of the heroes!" The general said with a resolute face.

"It looks like these undead haven't broken through their defensive line yet. We have plenty of time to get there now!" Aiweier said.

"Then let's set off." Oufeina casually closed the light screen.

After the contact ended, the general was still in a daze. He had never expected that they would actually have reinforcements, and reinforcements led by two Goddesses at that.

"General, General, what are you daydreaming about?" Laobobo, who had walked into the tent, looked at the dazed general and asked with some confusion.

"Laobobo, we are saved! Reinforcements will arrive soon!" A hint of joy appeared on the general's face.

"Reinforcements? What reinforcements could possibly come at a time like this? And could those reinforcements hold back the undead covering the mountains and plains?" Laobobo was far from being as optimistic as the general.

"No, no, no, Laobobo, this time the reinforcements are absolutely beyond what you could imagine!" The general's tone carried a tremor due to his excitement. "Our reinforcements this time are led by the Goddess Oufeina!"

"Goddess Oufeina?" Hearing the general's words, Laobobo was also startled, and then an irrepressible joy appeared on his face.

"That's right, it is Goddess Oufeina. Laobobo, the most important thing for us now is to prepare our soldiers and be ready to fight at any time. As long as we hold out until the Goddess arrives, we will be safe!" The general's tone carried a hint of exhilaration.

"Yes!" Laobobo ran out of the tent excitedly to relay the order.

Under the general's command, all the soldiers at the garrison were mobilized, preparing to deal with the attack from the undead.

Just as the soldiers were preparing for battle, the distant sky suddenly turned gloomy, and a white line appeared on the horizon. When that white line drew closer, everyone realized that the white line was actually composed of ghastly white bones.

The white line continued to advance forward, gradually swallowing everything in everyone's sight, bringing with it an incomparable sense of oppression.
