Chapter 894: Clues
Although it was confirmed that the mastermind hiding behind the God-Given Continent was the former Underworld Emperor, this was the only information Lingyun and the others could obtain; they were unable to find any useful clues as to where Moqi was hiding on this continent.
Lingyun gently closed the book, a trace of helplessness flashing in his eyes. If the Underworld Emperor really was Moqi, given his temperament, if he truly had gone into hiding, finding him would certainly not be an easy task. Now, they could only wait and see if Daiwena and Oufeina had any results on their end.
"I wonder what kind of results Daiwena will have!" Aiweier placed the book in front of her onto the bookshelf.
As the last book was returned to the shelf, a soft sound was heard, and the many bookshelves began to shift, eventually all returning to their original positions.
"Princess Aiweier, Princess Andiya, Mr. Lingyun, an envoy from the Dragon Race outside wishes to see you!" The Elf Queen walked into the great hall and bowed slightly to the three people present.
"An envoy from the Dragon Race?" Hearing the Elf Queen say this, the three of them exchanged glances, knowing that there must have been some progress on Daiwena's side.
"Alright, let's go now!" Andiya stood up and said.
In the great hall of the Jingling Wanggong, a young man was looking at the patterns around the hall with a curious expression, looking very much like he wanted to pry these patterns off to take back and study.
When Lingyun saw this man, a smile could not help but appear on his face. Wasn't this young man that little golden dragon who had fought Chen Jing back on Dragon Island and ended up being thrown around by her until he was dizzy? But he hadn't realized this golden dragon seemed so interested in the art of the Spirit race!
"Mr. Lingyun, Princess Aiweier, Princess Andiya." Seeing the three of them arrive, Daiweike bowed slightly to them.
These three were all genuine powerhouses at the deity rank; in front of such powerhouses, even he, as a member of the Dragon Race, showed respect.
"Daiweike, you want to see us—is there some urgent matter?" Lingyun asked.
"I am here on behalf of my sister to deliver a letter to Mr. Lingyun!" Daiweike took a Dragon Scale from his bosom and handed it to Lingyun.
Lingyun took the Dragon Scale from Daiweike's hand. The Dragon Scale released a faint light in his palm, and a special power flowed within it. This was a unique communication method of the Dragon Race; the information hidden within this Dragon Scale would only be revealed once it fell into the hands of the corresponding person. Even if others were to completely destroy the Dragon Scale, they would be unable to obtain the information hidden inside.
"And, where is Daiwena?" Lingyun asked.
"My sister found the legacy left behind by the last ancient Dragon God while she was researching information in the library, and she is currently in seclusion!" Speaking of his sister, a trace of pride could not help but appear on Daiweike's face.
If Daiwena could successfully break through this time, she would undoubtedly become the youngest deity on the entire God-Given Continent; such an honor was unimaginable to others. And with a deity-rank powerhouse holding the fort, the Dragon Race would have more confidence when facing other races that possessed deities.
Lingyun and Aiweier exchanged glances, the same look of "as expected" appearing in their eyes. One could only say that the existence of a Fate Child was sometimes truly incredible. She had merely been asked by Lingyun to look up information regarding the mastermind behind the Undead Calamity, yet she had inadvertently obtained the legacy of an ancient Dragon God and secured the qualification to ascend to the deity rank.
However, Lingyun and the others felt no jealousy toward such things; after all, the few of them were already all deity-rank existences now. Moreover, having an extra deity-rank powerhouse on their side at this time would clearly add a heavy weight to their capital for confronting that mastermind.
"I understand; we will properly organize the information here." Lingyun nodded and said.
After returning to the Elf Temple, Lingyun tapped his finger lightly against the Dragon Scale. Specks of light drifted out from the scale, condensing into lines of Dragon language in front of them. Deciphering Dragon language was not a difficult task, and before long, the information Daiwena wanted to convey was presented before Lingyun and the others.
"It looks like Daiwena really did find a lot of useful information." Looking at the annotations behind each name, Aiweier said.
At this moment, the gazes of the three converged simultaneously on the final piece of information left by Daiwena, and a familiar name appeared in their field of vision—Underworld Emperor!
In Daiwena's letter, the Underworld Emperor occupied a full third of the space. Daiwena had analyzed the Underworld Emperor from various aspects, and the final conclusion was that the mastermind this time was most likely the Underworld Emperor.
Looking at the dense amount of data in front of her, even Aiweier could not help but be somewhat tongue-tied for a moment. She had not expected that in such a short time, Daiwena would send them such a detailed report, while simultaneously locking onto the prime suspect for the mastermind this time.
"As expected of a Fate Child, this ability is truly remarkable!" Andiya could not help but exclaim.
Lingyun's gaze fell to the very end of the content in Daiwena's letter, where she mentioned a very important matter: the Norton Empire, one of the three great Human empires, was rumored to be descendants of the Underworld Emperor. However, this piece of news was only mentioned in a single line in an unofficial history and had no further description; the royal family of the Norton Empire had never mentioned this matter either. But out of caution, Daiwena had still recorded this sentence in the letter.
"The royal family of the Norton Empire, possibly descendants of the Underworld Emperor?" Seeing this, both Andiya and Aiweier showed a trace of astonishment.
"No, this possibility exists!" Aiweier opened her hand, and a book flew from the shelf and landed in her hand; this book contained descriptions regarding the royal family of the Norton Empire.
"Before the Norton Empire was initially established, the Norton Family, the predecessor of the Norton royal family, was indeed a family that produced many Undead Mages. It was only later, because many Undead Mages repeatedly committed heinous acts, that they were ostracized by other mages on the continent, and the inheritance of Undead Mages within the Norton Family gradually began to break off, eventually disappearing without a trace," Aiweier said while looking at what was recorded in the book.
"Produced many Undead Mages?" Andiya raised an eyebrow.
"That's right, and there is another very important matter here; the book records that the Norton Family was a very ancient family, and it might have even existed before the Great Destruction." Aiweier captured another important piece of information.
"Existed before the Great Destruction? Before the Great Destruction, most Undead Magic should have originated from the lineage of the Underworld Emperor, right!" Lingyun said.
"Why don't we go to the Norton Empire and take a look? We might gain something!" Aiweier closed the book in her hand.
"Alright." The other two nodded simultaneously.
