Chapter 919: The Imbalanced World
"This world seems to be a bit off!"
Atop a tall building, Lingyun gazed at the sky, unable to help but furrow his brows slightly.
"Ruoxi, have you sensed the abnormalities in this world?"
"I have sensed it. This world seems to have developed some kind of imbalance. If it continues like this, the world might gradually head toward collapse." Ruoxi shrank her body to the size of an ordinary doll and sat on Lingyun's shoulder.
"In your estimation, under these imbalanced conditions, how much longer can this world hold on?" Lingyun asked another question.
"Hmm, I reckon it should be able to hold on for another fifty million years. After fifty million years, this world should fall into an unstoppable collapse due to the imbalance," Ruoxi said slowly, squinting her eyes as she calculated.
"Fifty million years? This situation is truly quite rare!" Hearing Ruoxi say this, Lingyun's brows could not help but furrow as well.
Do not think that fifty million years is a long time. You must know that Earth's age is already over four billion years. These fifty million years might truly count for nothing to Earth, let alone to a world. If one were to place fifty million years on the timeline of a complete world, it might not even stir up a single ripple. It can be said that for this world to perish in fifty million years is equivalent to a person being on the verge of immediate death.
"I don't see any signs that this world has reached its end-of-life stage; how could such a bizarre situation arise?" Lingyun could not help but furrow his brows.
"This world must have experienced a great catastrophe, causing the foundation of this world to suffer severe trauma. Unless a brand-new world pillar can appear within this world, it will inevitably head toward destruction." Speaking to this point, Ruoxi's expression also became somewhat unpleasant.
"The world experienced a great catastrophe?" Lingyun did not know what he had thought of, but a trace of astonishment could not help but appear in his eyes. "Could this world be one of the worlds that survived the battle to exterminate the Main God back then?"
"That is possible." Ruoxi nodded slightly.
As for why Lingyun appeared in this world, it naturally had to do with the affairs of the God-Given Continent.
After Moqi was killed by Lingyun and the Undead Legion was wiped out, the God-Given Continent could be considered to have ushered in a brand-new period of peace. However, the destruction caused to the entire God-Given Continent by the previous Undead Calamity was simply too great, and coupled with the previous resurrection event of the Demon World lord, the entire continent was in a state of needing reconstruction.
Most importantly, after Lingyun returned the World Essence, those existences from the Ancient God Era who had been forced to hide due to the great changes in heaven and earth emerged one after another from their hiding places.
Once these fellows appeared, they demanded to obtain a living area of their own on the continent. But now, this continent had long been divided by various forces; how could they possibly give up their own territory?
Under these circumstances, the entire God-Given Continent fell into a state of chaos once again. Of course, this matter actually had nothing to do with Lingyun; after all, he did not belong to the God-Given Continent in the first place. What did the division of territories on the God-Given Continent have to do with him?
But as luck would have it, someone leaked the fact that Lingyun had killed the Underworld Emperor and implicitly informed others that if they could obtain Lingyun's support, they would inevitably be able to secure greater benefits for themselves. Then, Lingyun's trouble arrived. From time to time, all sorts of people would appear before Lingyun, wanting to win him over using all kinds of methods.
Facing such matters, Lingyun was also extremely annoyed. After all, he never wanted to intervene in such things, yet there were always people crowding in front of him. Regarding this, Lingyun chose to run away directly. Let them squabble over these things themselves; why should he, someone who did not belong to the God-Given Continent, get involved?
After leaving a letter for Aiweier and Oufeina, Lingyun used Ruoxi's Space-Time Coordinate to leave the God-Given Continent and arrived in a brand-new world.
Of course, this time Lingyun did not just run away; he borrowed the power of the Cloud Realm to leave a Cloud Realm Gate within the Elf Temple. As long as Aiweier and Oufeina used their own power to open the Cloud Realm Gate, they could pass through the Cloud Realm Gate and arrive in the Cloud Realm.
Upon learning the function of the Cloud Realm Gate, the two of them, Aiweier and Oufeina, were naturally overjoyed. After all, as long as the Cloud Realm existed, they could easily contact Lingyun.
In fact, Aiweier and Oufeina also wanted to follow Lingyun and leave the God-Given Continent together, but the current God-Given Continent was in a troubled time, with all sorts of monsters and demons jumping out, stirring up the continent so that it had no peace. The two of them could only hold down the fort on the God-Given Continent to warn those restless fellows. However, they had also made up their minds that once the affairs of the God-Given Continent settled down, they would leave the God-Given Continent with Lingyun to experience the different charms of the various major worlds.
Casting the affairs of the God-Given Continent to the back of his mind, Lingyun actually gained a bit more interest in this world.
"It looks like this world should be in a modern society now; I think there should be quite a few interesting things. I just don't know if this world is a daily-life world or a world possessing supernatural abilities." Lingyun's gaze swept over the colorful neon lights below, a trace of anticipation in his eyes.
This world was even more advanced than Lingyun's original world; the towering skyscrapers all carried a hint of science fiction.
"This world should not be a daily-life world. I have captured a trace of magic power in the air, only, this magic power seems a bit off. Also, in this city, there seem to be quite a few ominous auras," Ruoxi said with a frown.
As the World Consciousness of the Cloud Realm, Ruoxi did not release her own power but was purely relying on her own sensory abilities to investigate. If she were to release her power in a strange world without any greeting, that would be a provocation to this world; Ruoxi would never do such a thing.
Just as Lingyun was sizing up this strange world, a white shadow suddenly flashed past the corner of Lingyun's vision. However, that shadow's speed was somewhat fast, and it quickly disappeared into a dark corner.
"Hey, Ruoxi, I think I've discovered something interesting!" Lingyun did not know what he had thought of, but he suddenly laughed. "We seem to have arrived in a quite interesting world!"
"A quite interesting world?" Ruoxi was somewhat puzzled.
"That's right, a quite interesting world—a world so interesting that I want to grind certain things to dust!" A wicked smile hooked the corners of Lingyun's mouth.
