Chapter 931: It Was My Doing
Akemi Homura followed quietly behind Kyubey; because she possessed the power of time, tracking Kyubey was something she could do without any pressure.
For some reason, she always felt that the behavior of this Kyubey was a bit strange, not at all like a real Kyubey. But if this guy was not a real Kyubey, then what kind of thing was it?
Kyubey's movement speed was very fast, and in a short while, it had darted a great distance away. If it weren't for the fact that Akemi Homura had already strengthened her body with magic power during the endless Cycle, plus the assistance of time stop, she probably really wouldn't have been able to catch up.
After turning a street corner, Kyubey stopped abruptly, and Akemi Homura also halted her steps, watching the direction of Kyubey quietly in the darkness.
A person walked out from the darkness. Upon seeing this person, Akemi Homura could not help but widen her eyes, because this person was none other than Lingyun. Lingyun opened his hand slightly, and starlike specks of light rose up from his side, transforming into a young girl.
Roses bloomed around the girl, looking exceptionally beautiful. Upon seeing this girl, Akemi Homura did not know why she suddenly thought of the Rose Witch that had been eliminated by Tomoe Mami earlier.
The girl stared fixedly at the Kyubey on the ground, angry light flickering in her eyes. Lingyun formed a seal with his right hand, and a faint light spread outward from his body as the center, shrouding this entire area.
The Kyubey standing in front of Lingyun opened its mouth and spat out a Kyubey directly. The spat-out Kyubey shook its head, a trace of confusion still in its eyes. The Kyubey that had spat out the other Kyubey had its form distort for a moment, then it slowly dissipated into starlike specks of light.
"You have five minutes; do whatever you want to do. Kyubey will not know what happened in this place," Lingyun said to the girl beside him, and then he disappeared.
The girl bowed slightly to Lingyun, then turned her head to look in the direction of Kyubey. Kyubey was still bewildered, clearly not yet understanding what exactly it had encountered.
"Don't watch; what happens next is not suitable for children," a faint voice sounded by Akemi Homura's ear, giving her a big fright.
"You, when did you come over?" Seeing Lingyun beside her, Akemi Homura subconsciously retreated several steps.
Lingyun did not speak; his figure instantly appeared beside Akemi Homura, and he took her away from this place.
After leaving that Barrier, Akemi Homura retreated several steps in succession, took a pistol from her Arm Shield, and a bit more vigilance appeared in her gaze toward Lin Yan.
She could now be certain that this strange change in Kyubey was inseparable from Lin Yan. And in the Witch Barrier of the Rose Witch earlier, the fact that the familiars suddenly attacked Kaname Madoka must also have been related to Lingyun. If Lingyun dared to harm Kaname Madoka, he was her enemy.
"Student Akemi Homura, there is no need for you to be so vigilant toward me!" Lingyun said with some helplessness.
"The mutation in the Witch Barrier earlier—that was your doing, right!" Akemi Homura said with a vigilant face.
"That's right, it was my doing!" Lingyun had no intention of hiding it either.
"Then, those familiars attacking Madoka and the others—that was also your doing?" A dangerous light flashed in Akemi Homura's eyes, and her pistol lifted slightly, as if to aim at Lingyun.
Seeing Akemi Homura in this state, Lingyun instantly understood why Akemi Homura was so vigilant toward him; the reason all lay with Kaname Madoka!
"Student Akemi Homura, you don't need to be so vigilant. As a teacher, how could I let my students get hurt? Didn't you notice the familiar that happened to be crushed when Kaname Madoka fell?" Lingyun asked.
"Those familiars, were they arranged by you? How did you do it?"
Akemi Homura only now remembered that the situation at the time was indeed a bit different; although those familiars were surrounding Kaname Madoka and the other, they had no intention of attacking. Moreover, their positions were also very clever; each one was exposed exactly under her muzzle, and not a single one was obscured by the bodies of Kaname Madoka and the other, as if they had been specially prepared for Akemi Homura to shoot.
"Actually, this is very simple!" Lingyun raised his hand, and a trace of silver light flashed at his fingertips.
Immediately, Akemi Homura discovered with some horror that the things around her suddenly moved, then all gathered beside Lingyun, combining into a somewhat comical humanoid figure. As Lingyun's fingers moved lightly, the figure in front of her actually began to perform radio calisthenics in front of her; in every movement, it seemed there was no difference from a normal person.
"Th-this is?" Looking at the humanoid figure beside Lingyun, Akemi Homura suddenly felt a chill in her heart.
"Have you heard of a Puppeteer?" Lingyun said with a smile.
"Puppeteer?" Akemi Homura's tone carried a trace of doubt, and then she looked toward Lingyun's fingertips, just in time to see that thin threads seemed to be extending from Lingyun's fingertips.
"Could it be that you controlled those familiars through these thin threads?" Akemi Homura's tone carried a trace of astonishment.
"You can think of it that way!" Lingyun nodded with a smile. "Under my control, these familiars would only bring Kyubey down."
"Then, the things that followed—were you controlling those too?"
"That's right, it was me."
"That girl just now..." Akemi Homura did not know what she was thinking of, and her eyes could not help but widen slightly.
"That's right, she was the monster in that strange Barrier earlier. I didn't expect that the true form of that monster would actually be such a cute girl," Lingyun said with a light chuckle.
"Then what did you mean by fifteen minutes earlier?"
"Five minutes means that under the protection of the Barrier, the time that girl can exist in this world is only five minutes; after all, she is someone who has long since passed away." Lingyun sighed slightly. "I don't know what reason caused a girl to turn into that kind of monster. I see she seems to have great resentment toward that Kyubey; could it be that this matter has something to do with that Kyubey?"
"What if I said it does?" Akemi Homura put away her pistol and sighed slightly.
"If it does, then this guy deserves to be cut into a thousand pieces! A girl like her is the most precious treasure in this world, isn't she?" A trace of killing intent flashed in Lingyun's eyes.
Akemi Homura, who caught this trace of killing intent, felt her skin sting, as if Lingyun's killing intent were tangible, and she could not help but feel some horror in her heart.
Just at this moment, the Barrier shattered. Within the shattered Barrier, the girl's figure was no longer there. On the ground were roses in full bloom. Among the bright red rose petals, some red traces seemed to be mixed in.
However, these roses did not exist for long before they slowly dissipated into the air. As for the Kyubey that had already disappeared, neither Lingyun nor Akemi Homura cared to concern themselves with it.
