Chapter 130: Buddha Light Extinguished, Dharma Conch Silent
When Sun Wukong's foot stepped over that threshold.
Time stopped.
It was not a slowing.
Nor was it solidification.
Rather, it was a thorough, complete disappearance.
It was as if an invisible giant hand,
from the root of this Heaven and Earth, forcibly pulled the Concept of "time" out.
Inside the Daxiong Baodian.
The scriptures being recited by thousands of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats abruptly ceased.
That grand, solemn chant imbued with supreme Buddhist doctrine left not a single echo.
As if it had never existed.
The whole world fell into an absolute, maddening Deathly Silence.
Immediately after.
Puff! Puff! Puff!
A series of barely audible faint sounds.
Before the Buddha Patriarch's Liántái, that row of ten‑thousand‑year everlasting lamps, claimed to have burned for an incalculable number of ten‑thousands of years and to share the lifespan of Heaven and Earth,
Those bean‑sized flames were brushed out, extinguished.
There was not a breath of wind.
They seemed as if their life's necks had been snapped.
In the same instant, they stopped beating.
Thin strands of blue smoke rose straight up from the wicks.
Reaching mid‑air, they then vanished into thin air.
Not even a trace of burnt smell remained.
The perpetual sandalwood fragrance drifting through the hall, which could steady believers' minds and inspire reverent worship,
also at that moment instantly became bland and tasteless.
The scent dispersed completely clean.
As if they had never been sacred relics from the Western Heaven Buddhist Kingdom.
Rather, they were just the most ordinary rotten wood in the mortal mountains and fields.
The transformation did not cease.
On the contrary, it intensified!
"Clack… crack…"
A series of teeth‑aching, faint cracking sounds began to echo from all directions.
Inside the great hall, all deities and Buddhas stared wide‑eyed in horror!
They saw.
Those Golden Body statues, sanctified by their own power and the incense offerings of believers, had long turned into immortal divine forms.
The layer of radiant Buddha Light representing their status and glory
was rapidly fading in an irresistible manner!
As if an invisible giant hand were brutally wiping it away!
The golden light dispersed.
Revealing the statue's most original essence.
Mud core.
Wooden puppet.
Stone carving.
The once majestic treasure appearance turned into a ridiculous, stiff and wooden dullness.
The former compassionate salvation became a comical, lacquered façade.
The entire Daxiong Baodian.
In just one or two breaths.
From a sacred pure land of boundless Dharma and myriad Buddhas paying homage,
turned into a…
a massive, death‑laden, oppressive spirit hall!
And those lofty deities and Buddhas.
were, in this spirit hall, statues awaiting worship… cold memorial tablets!
"No!!!"
Finally, an Arhat, unable to bear this massive Fear Heart Demon of falling from the altar to the mortal realm, let out a shrill, distorted scream!
That scream, like a stone striking the surface of a Deathly Silence lake.
In an instant, it detonated the string in every deity's heart that had already been stretched to its limit!
"My magical power! My Buddha Dharma!"
"Why! I can no longer sense the existence of the Buddha Dharma!"
"The Buddha Dharma between Heaven and Earth… has vanished! It has… has been cut off!"
"How could this be! How could this happen!"
Panic, like a plague, spread wildly within the Great Hall!
All the gods and Buddhas froze in place.
In terror they discovered their connection to the ubiquitous Buddhist law between themselves and this world.
They were seized by an overbearing will they could neither comprehend nor resist.
It forcibly severed!
It cut cleanly!
They are no longer Buddhas.
No longer Bodhisattvas.
Nor are they the arhats who liberate all beings!
They are merely a group of powerful Living Beings who still retain some lingering magical power!
They, once immortal deities, have reverted to mortal flesh that can die, feel pain, and know Fear Heart Demon!
"Amitabha…"
Guanyin Dashi's face was as pale as paper.
She instinctively tried to twist the spell technique in her hand.
But she found that her ever‑scrubbing, ever‑cleansing Yángliǔ Zhī, which could brush away anything and cleanse anything,
at this moment had become indistinguishable from the wild grass by the road.
The Buddha light above had long since vanished completely.
Only the withered, yellow branches remained, trembling faintly.
It was her hand that trembled.
The six‑tusk white elephant beneath Samantabhadra emitted an uneasy low growl.
Its sacred white hair lost its luster, turning into a pitiful gray.
Manjushri's green lion at his feet grew increasingly restless.
Golden hair stood on end, and from its throat came successive threatening roars.
Yet its roar was filled with a fierce yet cowardly Fear Heart Demon!
And the Rulai Buddha, seated high upon the Liántái,
was even more horrified to the point of despair!
His Six-zhang Golden Body, famed as Indestructible through Eons and Vajra Indestructible,
now, in his perception, had become as fragile as a sheet of paper!
As if a single gust could tear it apart!
The supreme Buddhist divine power he boasted to suppress the Three Realms
could not be manifested even once!
The magical power within him was like Dead Water whose source had been blocked.
Using a bit would diminish it.
He could no longer draw even the slightest supplement from heaven and earth!
He became a Mortal who possessed a treasure mountain yet could not find the key!
Under the mixed gaze of all gods and Buddhas, filled with terror, horror, and disbelief,
the perpetrator who caused all this.
the seemingly ordinary Mortal who showed not even a hint of magical fluctuation.
Step by step.
he walked to the center of the Great Hall.
His footsteps were very light.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
Within this Deathly Silence, in a Great Hall resembling a funeral hall, everything seemed unusually clear.
Each step was like an invisible hammer strike.
It struck mercilessly upon the hearts of the myriad gods and Buddhas!
They watched him come, eyes wide open.
Yet they lacked the courage to even move a finger.
An absolute suppression emanating from deep within the Soul,
made them like specimens nailed dead in place!
Sun Wukong halted his steps.
He stood at the very center of the Great Hall, the spot where the Buddha should overlook all beings.
He slowly lifted his head.
His gaze bore no trace of emotion.
It was as if he were watching a herd of pigs and dogs awaiting slaughter.
He calmly scanned the surroundings.
His eyes swept over the trembling arhats.
Then over the pallid bodhisattvas.
Finally.
His gaze finally fell upon the Liántái at the highest point.
It fell upon the face of... the Rulai Buddha who once loomed high above, ruling his destiny.
Their eyes met.
Sun Wukong's mouth finally curled into an arc.
That was not a smile.
It was a kind of coldness, more icy and stern than the Nine Netherworld Ice... a cruelty.
He did not speak.
But the Rulai Buddha seemed to hear, from the depths of hell, the most vicious verdict.
"Are you ready, to die?"
