Chapter 470: Violently Beating Hongjun!
Even the Dao Ancestor has to kneel and sing the song of conquest!
Hongjun lay on the ground, not a single piece of his flesh intact.
But his mouth could still move.
"Bodhi... you think ruining me... is the end of it?"
His voice sounded as if forcibly squeezed from his throat, hoarse and grating, filled with intense malice.
"The laws of the entire multiverse were set by me... if you move against me, it's as if you stand opposed to all worlds!"
Hongjun lifted his old face, smeared with dirt and blood, a trace of madness still lingering in his eyes.
"Heavenly Dao will not perish! Universe will not perish! One day you will be rejected by all worlds! Slain by the myriad realms!"
"You can't win... you..."
A foot came down.
Not heavy.
One could even say it was light.
Yet it landed precisely on Hongjun's face.
Half his head was pressed into the mud.
The curse in his mouth cut off abruptly.
Bodhi lowered his head to look at the twisted old face under his foot, his expression bland, as if he'd just stepped on a lump of dirt.
"Multiverse?"
Bodhi's tone was casual.
"What the hell is that thing?"
He pressed his foot down further.
Half of Hongjun's face in the mud squeezed into a distortion, his features twisted together, emitting a muffled whimper from his mouth.
"When I was napping."
Bodhi bent over, speaking in the tone of chatting with an old friend.
"The universe isn't even a thing yet."
"Your Heavenly Dao, your laws, your multiverse."
"All that is stuff that happened after I woke up."
He lifted his foot, stepped back, and patted nonexistent dust off his shoe.
Hongjun's head was pulled from the mud pit, his face covered in black mud mixed with blood and shattered fragments of Heavenly Dao runes.
His eyes finally changed.
No longer madness.
No longer malice.
Only one thing remained.
Fear.
Pure, bone‑deep fear, unadulterated.
At this moment, Hongjun finally understood.
He was not facing a stronger opponent.
Nor a higher‑level cultivator.
But something entirely beyond his comprehension.
Like an ant looking at a person.
Like dust looking at the stars.
He could not even comprehend the manner of the other's existence.
"You... what exactly are you..."
Hongjun's voice trembled, each word leaking out like air from between his teeth.
Bodhi did not answer.
He simply couldn't be bothered to answer.
Silence made Hongjun feel more hopeless than any words could.
Then, the Dao Ancestor who once ruled over countless ages of the myriad realms did something no one expected.
He crawled up.
Not standing up.
But using his knees to crawl up to Bodhi.
He slapped both hands on the ground and slammed his forehead down.
"Ancestor!"
That cry was heart‑rending.
"Ancestor, spare my life!"
"It's my fault for not recognizing Mount Tai! It's my ignorance of heaven's height and earth's depth!"
Hongjun's face rubbed back and forth on the ground, a sight ten times more miserable than that of Jieyin and Zhunti just before.
Lord of Heavenly Dao.
Ancestor of All Laws.
The highest existence in the Three Realms.
Now kneeling on the ground shouting 'ancestor,' he didn't dare even fart.
Spare my life! Just spare my life! Let me do anything!
Hongjun's fingernails were about to dig into the stone.
I'm willing to be an ox and a horse! I'm willing to serve my predecessor!
Please… ancestor… please…
An iron staff stretched out from the side.
The staff tip lightly tapped Hongjun's bald head.
Clang.
Clang.
Clang.
Three times.
Each sound carried an indescribable teasing.
Sun Wukong carried the Chaos Dao iron over to Hongjun and squatted down.
Tilting his head, he looked at this former Dao ancestor as if watching a monkey show.
"Old Hongjun."
Sun Wukong's mouth corners curled up very high.
"Do you still remember how you used to speak to me back then?"
Hongjun didn't dare raise their head.
"Remember?"
Sun Wukong tapped again.
"What did you say? 'Under the Heavenly Dao, all things are ants.'"
"And you also called me a... 'petty clown'?"
"You said I'm not worthy to converse with you?"
"You want me to kneel and accept my fate?"
With each sentence Sun Wukong spoke, the iron staff tapped once on Hongjun's forehead.
Not heavy.
But extremely insulting.
Hongjun's body trembled like sifting chaff, not daring to make a sound.
"How come you're not being arrogant anymore?"
Sun Wukong brought his face close to Hongjun.
"Give me another arrogant line to hear, old man?"
"Back when you schemed against me, when you wielded the Heavenly Dao like a whip to lash me, where did that high-and-mighty attitude go?"
Hongjun's lips trembled for a while, squeezing out a few words: 'Great Sage... Great Sage, please calm your anger... it's all my fault...'
"Great Sage?"
Sun Wukong laughed.
"You damn well know how to change your tune."
He stood up, brushed off the dust on his hands, turned his head to look at his master.
Bodhi stood a few steps away, hands hidden in sleeves, expression showing no joy or anger.
Bodhi glanced at the limp 'Dao ancestor' at his feet, then at his own disciple.
"You speak."
Bodhi's tone was very casual.
"How should we handle him?"
Sun Wukong froze for a moment.
"Master is asking me?"
"You have the deepest grudge with him."
Bodhi raised his chin, 'Whether to kill or to chop, it's your call.'
Sun Wukong lowered his head to look at Hongjun lying on the ground.
This old thing.
Schemed against him his whole life.
Used the Heavenly Dao to suppress him.
Used rules to trap him.
Used means to harm him.
Now lying at my feet, he's no different from a worm.
Kill him?
Too cheap.
One swipe and it's all over—clean and efficient, not even feeling pain for a few seconds.
Not enough.
Far from enough.
Sun Wukong squatted down, grabbed Hongjun's scruff with one hand, and lifted the withered old man off the ground.
Hongjun's legs dangled, kicking, his face covered in mud and blood, his eyes full of pleading.
"Don't kill me... don't kill me..."
Sun Wukong moved close to his face.
「Old thing, are you afraid of death? 」
Hongjun nodded desperately.
「That's good. 」
Sun Wukong smiled.
That smile was more horrifying than crying.
「I won't kill you. 」
A flicker of post-catastrophe relief flashed in Hongjun's eyes.
But the next second.
The hand that Sun Wukong had extended lifted the Chaos Dao Iron.
The tip of the staff, intertwined with gold, ash, and black, was aimed at Hongjun's chest.
Aimed at the last trace of his Xiūwéi foundation.
Hongjun's complexion changed instantly.
「No! No no! That won't do! Kill me! Kill me! 」
Compared to death, he feared this more.
Loss of power.
To live forever as a Mortal.
For an existence that has cultivated through countless eons.
This is the true hell.
「You kill me……please kill me……」
Hongjun began to struggle, began to howl, began to twist his body like a madman.
Sun Wukong's answer was only one word.
「Too late. 」
The Chaos Dao Iron touched Hongjun's chest.
There was no loud boom.
No explosion.
Only a stream of light intertwined with gold, ash, and black seeped from the staff tip into Hongjun's body.
Where the light passed, the foundation shattered.
The meridians shattered inch by inch.
The dantian collapsed.
Xiūwéi turned to dust.
Hongjun let out a Cànjiào that was not human.
That sound was more unpleasant than being killed.
It was the wail of a person who had lost everything, issuing from the deepest part of the Línghún.
His hair was withering.
His skin was loosening.
His bones were shrinking.
In the end, what Sun Wukong held in his hand was a withered, ugly old man whose whole body exuded a rotten stench.
He didn't even have the strength to lift his hand.
But he was still alive.
He would continue to live.
As a Mortal.
He had no magical power.
He had no divine abilities.
He had no dignity.
Forever.
Sun Wukong let go.
Hongjun fell to the ground, like a lump of mud.
He no longer had the strength to cry; only the corners of his mouth kept twitching, tears mixed with snot streaming down.
Once the master of the Heavenly Dao.
Now he was worse than a beggar.
「Satisfying. 」
Sun Wukong clapped his hands and walked back to his master's side.
「Master, this debt is settled. 」
Bodhi glanced at the lump of waste on the ground that could no longer make waves, and gave a noncommittal hum.
「Debt? 」
The old man's gaze shifted away from Hongjun.
He slowly swept his gaze over this battlefield covered in scars.
The remnants of the hundred thousand Heavenly Soldiers were scattered across the ground.
The shattered Golden Bodies of the three thousand Arhats piled up into a small hill.
The Jade Emperor shrank in a corner, not daring to even breathe.
The Tathagata lay half-dead in the ruins.
Jieyin and Zhunti turned into two half-dead saplings.
But Bodhi's gaze swept past these people.
It swept past all those kneeling, lying down, and unconscious.
It stopped at a corner farthest from the battlefield.
There, a pile of shattered divine weapons lay heaped like a mountain.
Beneath the wreckage.
A tiny figure trembled there.
It shrank tightly, its body curled into a ball, wishing it could squeeze itself into a crack in the stone.
Its fur was dark gold.
A pair of eyes filled with extreme fear.
A face almost identical to Sun Wukong's.
But its aura was completely different.
Sinister, cowardly, full of calculation.
Six-Eared Macaque.
It thought it had hidden well enough.
It thought everyone's attention was on Hongjun and the Tathagata.
It thought this little fish could slip away in the chaos.
But Bodhi saw it.
The old man's gray eyes calmly fell upon that pile of ruins.
The corner of his mouth twitched.
"There's also a little mouse."
"The bill for the True and False Monkey King."
"It hasn't even started being calculated."
Beneath the ruins, the Six-Eared Macaque's pupils dilated sharply, and all the blood in its body turned to ice in that instant.
