Chapter 136: Qian Bao Dafa Hao

~10 min read 1,860 words

"Jiang Nian!! Go die!"

When Zhou Yuting heard the insult about scoring less than five hundred and thirty, her whole body trembled violently.

She never imagined this person could be so cruel; she was so furious she nearly fainted.

But when she looked up, where was he now?

She was truly angry—Jiang Nian's earlier apologies were all lies! He clearly just wanted to mock her! This utterly despicable scumbag!

What's so great about getting promoted? I'm about to be promoted too. Jiang Nian can't even see my efforts—he only smugly mocks me.

What's so impressive? I know people a hundred times better than him.

The more Zhou Yuting thought about it, the angrier she became, and no amount of self-reassurance helped. Right now, she only wanted to find Jiang Nian and beat him senseless—but she could only imagine it.

She could tell Jiang Nian hated her too; their levels of hatred were about equal. But Jiang Nian's hatred ran deeper—he just held it in check.

If we really beat each other into a pulp, it's hard to say who'd end up looking like a pig.

Zhou Yuting has no conscience, but she's not stupid. Compared to Jiang Nian, the big weekend joint exam is like a speck of dust beside a mountain—utterly insignificant.

Jiang Nian returned to the classroom, feeling refreshed.

Even though Jiang Nian had left the parallel class, he still cared about Zhou Yuting as always. Whenever someone in the third floor fell ill or dropped out, he'd ask around to find out if it was her.

Die sooner, dumb dog.

In the brightly lit classroom, Zhang Nenzhi glanced at the door every minute.

She realized something terrifying: after today, there were only three days left until the big weekend joint exam—meaning only three days to prepare.

Time had passed so quickly, yet she hadn't noticed at all.

Zhang Nenzhi planned to share this chilling news with Jiang Nian to shock him into action.

"Are we going right after? After the first evening self-study?"

"Yes, the teacher's in the integrated science office."

A soft rustling sound came from the doorway, oddly familiar.

Zhang Nenzhi looked up and saw a girl with an outrageously disproportionate figure—just her voice made you feel a shiver. She was utterly stunned.

It was autumn, nearing evening self-study.

Most students wore two layers: a short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirt under a school uniform or jacket. Since it was Tuesday, there was no dress code.

The girl talking to Jiang Nian at the door wasn't from Class Three. She wore only a plain white long-sleeve shirt with a light-colored jacket draped over it.

The girl was quite attractive; her jacket was open, no zipper pulled. The white long-sleeve created such a strong visual impact that everything she said seemed reasonable.

Zhang Nenzhi recognized the girl—it was Yu Zhiyi.

She knew the two were probably discussing biology enrichment; Zhong Qing had picked one student from each of Class Two and Class Three for enrichment, so their interaction was normal.

But she still felt uneasy—she considered herself to have an outstanding figure.

Yet this girl was the kind of powerhouse who could wear a short-sleeve and make the designs of Genji and Pikachu look like pigs—boys probably couldn't resist that.

Zhang Nenzhi slumped on her desk, cheeks puffed out, pretending not to care but dying to know what they were talking about.

A few minutes later, Jiang Nian returned to his seat, pulled out his test paper, and prepared to study seriously.

Just a moment ago, he mocked Zhou Yuting for scoring under five hundred and thirty—if his joint exam score is lower than hers, he might as well drop out.

Soon after, Chen Yunyun brought back the forty-five math test sets she had taken in the morning.

"Hey, what were you talking about with Yu Zhiyi just now?"

Hearing this, Zhang Nenzhi, who seemed to be working on problems, quietly turned her head.

"Biology enrichment—what else?" Jiang Nian sighed. "After the first evening self-study, bring the papers to the integrated science office to meet the biology teacher."

"Oh, okay." Chen Yunyun didn't press further.

She wanted to ask one more thing—how could a simple question take several minutes to answer? But such remarks could only be joked about privately, when no one else was around.

It could generally be classified as a girl teasing or being jealous of someone close to her.

If you asked that in public, even a boy wouldn't be that clueless—another girl asked the same thing would feel pressured too.

Zhang Nenzhi pinched her cheeks. Clearly, she didn't want to ask directly.

But she desperately wanted to know.

She slumped on her desk, moodily blowing her hair. Hidden by the bookshelf, her quiet frustration went unnoticed—she no longer felt like sharing the news with him.

Suddenly, a cool voice came from the seat behind.

"What did she say to you?"

Hearing this, not only Jiang Nian but also Zhang Nenzhi turned around.

All eyes turned to the class monitor—Li Qingrong's expression remained unchanged. Her eyes held only curiosity; it was clear she was genuinely wondering.

Zhang Nenzhi felt a small surge of delight—the monitor had asked.

Jiang Nian didn't suspect anything—he assumed the monitor was just curious.

"She asked me about Wu Jungu's recent situation. They seem to have broken up—or maybe just agreed to a cooling-off period—and told me not to say she asked."

The surrounding students: "..."

Holy crap, she told you not to tell—and you just spilled it right in front of the monitor?

"Mm." Li Qingrong seemed to be asking only out of simple curiosity.

Jiang Nian nodded, not taking it seriously. He turned back to his test paper—just as he lifted his pen, Zhang Nenzhi suddenly poked his arm.

"What?"

"The big joint exam is in three days," she whispered, pressing her pink lips together, then writing "Good luck" on his test paper with her pen.

Jiang Nian laughed at her. He turned to look at her.

"You talk so strangely—is this voice plus text?"

Zhang Nenzhi blushed furiously, glared at him, and turned away.

Wan Du followed routine, and Li Hua reverted to his usual lifeless self, completely immune to the exposure and intimidation of Jiang Nian and Ma Guojun.

After all, that incident happened at noon; now it was already night.

A sword from the previous dynasty cuts down an official of this one?

Just deny it outright and be done with it.

Evening self-study began; the classroom gradually fell silent. Only the rustling of pens and the turning of pages could be heard, and any occasional speech was a whisper.

One class ended without much notice.

Jiang Nian stayed at his seat until the second evening self-study session began, when everyone returned. Only then did he pick up his biology exam paper and head out, stopping by the restroom on the way.

The restroom was at the end of the corridor, completely empty during class hours.

Jiang Nian strolled slowly over; the corridor was deserted. The night wind blew past, instantly clearing his mind—freedom was this moment's breath.

After relieving himself, he came out of the restroom, washed his hands, and followed the stairs all the way down to the first-floor Science and Comprehensive Office.

The office was at the end of the first-floor corridor, next to the English Office.

As Jiang Nian passed by, he spotted Qian Bao slumped inside the office, doing something unknown. But since Qing Bao had summoned him, one servant couldn't serve two masters—he had no choice.

Yet when he stepped into the brightly lit Science and Comprehensive Office, Qing Bao was nowhere to be found.

Only Yu Zhiyi, whose simple jacket alone drew Jiang Nian's attention, was there.

"Where's Teacher Qing?" he nearly blurted out.

"That's an interesting way to address her—Teacher Qing?" Yu Zhiyi smiled, one hand propped on the desk. "Teacher went to patrol the classrooms and told us to wait here for her."

"Oh~, I see." Jiang Nian set down the exam paper, glanced at Yu Zhiyi, and said, "I'm going to the restroom. Watch my paper for me."

Yu Zhiyi's lips curled upward as she glanced up at him.

"Didn't you just go to the restroom on the fourth floor?"

Jiang Nian froze. "You—"

"Don't misunderstand. I went downstairs then too, and just happened to see you." Yu Zhiyi pursed her lips, a spark flashing in her eyes. "Wait a bit—Teacher will be here soon."

"Oh oh, I actually didn't wash my hands just now, so—"

Yu Zhiyi's expression stiffened slightly, and she stammered.

"Then go."

Jiang Nian placed his hand on the desk and meticulously rearranged the exam paper and pen with his fingers. Finally, he pushed them toward Yu Zhiyi and said solemnly.

"You must watch my paper carefully—don't let it blow away."

Yu Zhiyi's face paled several shades, and she instinctively recoiled.

"Fine."

Jiang Nian walked out of the office and scoffed.

He turned and entered the adjacent office, heading straight for Qian Bao's desk.

"Teacher, slacking off on the job?"

Qian Bao was playing on her phone. When she looked up and saw Jiang Nian, she rolled her eyes.

"Why did you come down? Don't you have self-study?"

"Of course I came down for a reason—I just happened to see you playing on your phone." Jiang Nian made himself at home, pulling over a chair and sitting down.

"Teacher, pay me some friend fee."

Qian Bao sat up straight, gritting her teeth.

"How dare you speak like that? So disrespectful! Who taught you to talk like this!"

"How about some gold coins instead?"

Qian Bao: "..."

Jiang Nian opened a pack of Xixile jelly in the empty office while chatting with Qian Bao.

"Teacher, you're doing questions from Subject One?"

"Huh? What's wrong?" Qian Bao knew her students too well. She pointed at him. "Either shut up, or think carefully before you speak."

"If you can't even pass Subject One, Teacher, you're just lazy to the extreme."

"Shut your mouth! You're eating and still talking too much!" Qian Bao was slightly rattled. "How would you, a student, know how hard Subject One is?"

"Teacher, I'll be taking it soon too."

Qian Bao assumed he meant after the college entrance exam and didn't bother arguing, changing the subject.

"The big joint exam is this weekend. You transferred up, right? Are you under pressure?"

"Of course I am. Which exam room are you proctoring?" Jiang Nian leaned back in his chair, slurping noisily, utterly relaxed. "If you're proctoring mine, give me a hint?"

"A hint? Do you expect me to solve math or science problems?" Qian Bao rolled her eyes. "If I'm proctoring your room, I'll catch you first."

"Haha." Jiang Nian laughed, then turned and saw Qing Bao walking past the office door, glancing at him. He immediately stood up to leave.

"Teacher, I'm going to the other office now."

"Hey! Wait!" Qian Bao called out from behind.

Jiang Nian turned—and two packs of Xixile jelly flew toward him.

In the bright, empty English Office, Qian Bao sat upright in her chair, sternly instructing.

"Do well on the exam. Don't be nervous."
