Chapter 336: Are You Proud of Yourself?

~8 min read 1,450 words

Just as tensions were at their peak, Zhou Yuting spoke up to defuse the situation.

"Didn't you come here to sing?"

With those words, the atmosphere instantly softened like winter snow beginning to melt. They were all here to put on a show; if it came to actual fighting,

they followed Liu Feipeng for fun, and firing three shots into the air was already enough to repay his favor.

Loyalty!

Hearing this, Liu Feipeng's tone also softened.

"Sing, sing."

In the past, he was used to making fun of the weakest person in the room, and sometimes he picked on Jiang Nian—just never expected to be shut down.

Before, he knew Jiang Nian held back out of consideration for Zhou Yuting's feelings, no matter how provoked he was. Now, the guy had a girlfriend.

He silently cursed his mistake and resolved not to provoke Jiang Nian anymore.

He took a sip of liquor.

At that moment, the private room door was pushed open.

A young man with sharp eyebrows and starlike eyes strode in, scanning everyone in the room, his gaze pausing briefly on Jiang Nian.

"Oh? Someone I know?"

Since the young man directed this remark at Jiang Nian, everyone turned to look at him again.

Jiang Nian sized up the boy and felt he looked familiar—but couldn't place him, thinking, What kind of lunatic is this?

He took another sip of liquor and asked with a puzzled expression.

"Who are you?"

Hearing this, Sheng Zeyang rubbed his nose, his expression slightly awkward.

"You should know Lü Xuan."

"Oh, her," Jiang Nian replied indifferently. "I know—she's Xi Yangyang. Are you her friend?"

"Yeah, we met a few days ago," Sheng Zeyang smiled, not putting on airs, and sat down casually.

Liu Feipeng watched the enthusiastic Sheng Zeyang and the cold Jiang Nian, and one word surfaced in his mind: kissing cold ass.

Yet he didn't want to laugh.

Because Sheng Zeyang was the person he'd invited to lend him face—after failing to win over Yu Tongjie last time, he'd gone out of his way to befriend Sheng Zeyang.

His family wasn't just rich; in Nanshi, he held considerable influence and had connections with many powerful figures—a true young master.

In old society, he would never have been able to associate with Sheng Zeyang.

Yet now, he watched the person he should have been groveling to—cheerfully chatting with Jiang Nian, showing not a hint of irritation.

Just moments ago, he'd mocked Jiang Nian.

Liu Feipeng was stunned. Why had he been so unlucky these past few months? It must be because he didn't have a girlfriend. Screw it!

Today! He must repair his relationship with Zhou Yuting!

Sheng Zeyang tried chatting with Jiang Nian for a while, but after asking endlessly, the other either dodged the questions or repeated himself.

Had he been in prison? Why so tight-lipped?

Lü Xuan had told him this guy was slicker than oil—he'd spent ages trying to pry something out of him, but got nothing.

Now it was clear: it was true.

After three rounds of drinks, Jiang Nian had finished eating.

Zhou Yuting, sitting beside him, winced with every bite—he was making her blush just watching. She couldn't help but whisper a reminder.

"Stop eating. Sing a couple lines."

"Heh." Jiang Nian carried on as if nothing had been said.

Feeling the moment was right, Liu Feipeng straightened up, sent a message to the front desk, and soon the private room door opened again.

A puppy-like waiter entered carrying a glowing bouquet and said:

"Young Lady Zhou Yuting, this bouquet was ordered for you by Mr. Liu Feipeng. Wishing you eternal youth, forever eighteen."

Instantly, all of Liu Feipeng's subordinates burst into cheers.

"Ooooh!! So romantic!"

"If I were a girl, I'd be moved to tears!"

Liu Feipeng smiled modestly and calmly, offering no comment, only gesturing for them to quiet down.

Sheng Zeyang looked bored, his eyes showing clear disinterest.

Once the room fell silent, Zhou Yuting spoke awkwardly:

"I'm seventeen this year."

The room froze. Only Jiang Nian laughed out loud.

Despite the crushing awkwardness, Zhou Yuting accepted the bouquet. She held it, took a photo, then set it down and said:

"Actually, I came today to tell you something."

Liu Feipeng smiled gently and asked:

"What is it?"

"I've already fallen for someone in the Olympiad class," Zhou Yuting said, each word deliberate.

"He's outstanding—his appearance, his background, everything I like. I don't feel anything for you. So… please stop contacting me."

"I'm afraid he'll misunderstand."

The KTV fell utterly silent.

Only Jiang Nian and Sheng Zeyang remained unaffected—one cracking sunflower seeds, the other playing on his phone, even clinking glasses.

Ding. Liu Feipeng snapped back to reality.

He wiped his face, wanting to smile but unable to. In front of so many people, he had been rejected without any regard.

He had even sent her flowers, and Zhou Yuting had taken a photo.

Liu Feipeng stood up, feeling slightly dizzy. The euphoria that had clouded his mind was now utterly cast into cold exile.

In front of all his subordinates, his face had been completely trampled on the ground.

Moreover, there were two outsiders here: one was Jiang Nian, and the other was Sheng Zeyang—the man he had invited just to fill the scene.

He took two deep breaths and still managed to preserve his dignity.

"It's fine, I understand."

"Uh, let me toast you a drink," Liu Feipeng raised his glass to Zhou Yuting. "I wish you happiness in the future."

Under the dim lighting, his hand trembled slightly.

Jiang Nian, sitting nearby, couldn't help but curl his lips. He stood up and interrupted the scene outright, brushing off his clothes.

"I'm heading back."

Zhou Yuting's pupils dilated slightly—she wasn't stupid. If Jiang Nian left, the entire private room would be filled with Liu Feipeng's people.

She quickly stood up, refusing to take the glass.

"Next time. I'm leaving too."

Ding-ding-ding, the two walked out of the private room directly.

The atmosphere sank back into ice. Even clay figures have three parts of temper.

Liu Feipeng gritted his teeth hard and hurled the glass toward the door of the private room. The glass shattered instantly, wine splashing across the floor.

"Did I say you could leave?"

Jiang Nian hadn't even stepped out yet when the glass flew past his face. It slammed into the KTV door, and a few drops of wine landed on his cheeks.

He calmly turned his head, looking at Liu Feipeng, and spoke.

"Aren't you supposed to be calm? I've always thought you were an idiot. Pretending to be mature? Your dad's not dead—why are you acting so rich?"

Normally, Liu Feipeng would have just smiled it off. But today, a string of events had piled up by accident.

His composure cracked—he was starting to break. After hearing Jiang Nian's outburst, his expression darkened instantly.

"What did you say?"

"I said your mom," Jiang Nian stared at him calmly. "This is off-campus. You're twenty years old."

"Plainly put, if you're still acting tough in Gao San, you're either an idiot or an asshole. Pretending to be strategic? You've been given too much leeway."

In that instant, Liu Feipeng turned completely red.

"You're asking for a beating, aren't you?!"

He grabbed something at random and roared.

"Get him!"

A crowd erupted in shouts—some moved quickly, others slowly—but in the end, Liu Feipeng charged forward first.

Boom—one kick sent Liu Feipeng flying.

The scene froze. Everyone stared in terror, watching Liu Feipeng clatter and scramble as he tried to rise from the floor.

He tried twice. Couldn't get up.

Minutes later, the private room was a mess.

шwш? ttkān? 〇

Liu Feipeng's face turned ashen. He knew Jiang Nian's kick had shattered his face completely—unless he could reclaim it.

For some reason, he muttered angrily.

"Maybe he's already with Zhou Yuting."

Sheng Zeyang interrupted him, waving his hand.

"Impossible."

Liu Feipeng froze. "Why?"

Sheng Zeyang was too lazy to explain. He'd seen the show and was ready to leave. No girl, no singing. Before leaving, he dropped one line.

"If Jiang Nian has a girlfriend, you'd better not offend him."

On the street, Zhou Yuting felt the cold wind, watching Jiang Nian prepare to leave.

"You're proud of yourself, aren't you, Jiang Nian!"

Jiang Nian glanced back at Zhou Yuting, a flicker of confusion in his eyes.

"I don't understand—what do you mean by that?"

Hearing this, Zhou Yuting's face nearly boiled with rage.

"It's all your fault! Why else would I be like this!"

"Yeah, and then?" Jiang Nian got on his bike and rode off without looking back. "I could eat this secret for a year."
