Chapter 390: Sweating Buckets
Hearing this, Jiang Nian couldn't hold it together for a moment.
"Xu Qianqian, don't go biting people randomly!"
"Pervert." Xu Qianqian, dressed in a pale pink pajama set, looked down at him with a face full of disgust. "Big pervert!"
Nice, handing out perks at this hour of the night.
Jiang Nian deliberated for a long while, then ended up laughing out loud.
"Anyway, didn't you agree to that thing, a video call after your shower? Now the situation's a bit more complicated, but the result's pretty much the same."
"You call this pretty much the same?" Xu Qianqian protested. "If I hadn't reacted fast, you'd have seen everything—" "Didn't I call out to you before coming in?" Jiang Nian countered. "But speaking of which, what were you doing in the bathroom?"
Hearing this, Xu Qianqian immediately felt guilty.
Because she had promised someone a video call after her shower, she had gone back to her room and carefully picked out pajamas and various hair clips in front of the mirror.
Picking and picking, she lost track of time. When she came to, she hurried off to shower, while her phone was tossed in the bathroom laundry basket.
It wasn't until Jiang Nian called her from outside the bathroom that she realized she was done for. Knowing him as she did, she grabbed some clothes to cover herself.
"Just because you called out, you can break down the door?" Xu Qianqian's face flushed red. "You almost saw me naked, you bastard!"
"You did agree to a video call after your shower." Jiang Nian spread his hands. "Perfect, saves the trouble, no need for a video call now."
"Is that how you save trouble?"
"I really can't do anything with you, you petty thing." Jiang Nian pressed a hand to his forehead. "Then I'll let you take a look too, we're even."
3
Hearing this, Xu Qianqian nearly spat blood.
"Shameless."
"Then what do you suggest?" Jiang Nian said. "You want to kill a good man who broke down the door out of concern for your safety?"
"Xu Qianqian, ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf?"
"Big pervert!"
"It's wolf, not pervert." Jiang Nian said. "Reasonably speaking, what if you really faint in the bathroom next time?"
"And I'm standing outside the bathroom, because of what happened this time as a lesson. I hesitate to go in, and end up causing you to... you know."
"Bah bah bah!!!" Xu Qianqian pointed a finger at him. "You think I'm an idiot?"
Jiang Nian glanced at her. "Well, if that's how you want to think about it, there's nothing I can do."
To be fair, Xu Qianqian's skin really was quite nice. Clearly the slender-shoulder, generous-figure type, good for handling back and forth.
Xu Qianqian thought that no matter how she cursed him now, it was useless; in the end it would only make this pervert snort lightly.
She thought it over, and put on an indifferent face.
"Forget it, you didn't see anything anyway."
"Hard to say."
"You!!" Xu Qianqian was set off by Jiang Nian's one line, and lunged straight at Jiang Nian on the sofa. "Tell me clearly! What did you see!"
She was almost straddling Jiang Nian, viciously pinching his neck.
"Bro... bro, can't breathe." Jiang Nian coughed a few times.
"Good that you can't breathe, strangle you pervert to death, consider it ridding society of a pest." Xu Qianqian gritted her teeth.
After a while, Xu Qianqian vaguely sensed something wasn't right.
She not only let go of Jiang Nian on her own, but silently got up and walked to the room doorway more than five meters from the sofa.
"Just remembered, I haven't done my homework."
Jiang Nian was also a bit awkward. He picked up his keys and walked to the door, frowned in thought for a while, then turned back to explain.
"I heard there's a medical explanation—when a person is being choked. They can't control their body, and sometimes have some stress reactions."
"Get lost!" Xu Qianqian threw a punch.
"OK."
After Jiang Nian left, Xu Qianqian collapsed on the sofa. She tilted her head back, staring blankly at the ceiling, her cheeks slowly turning red.
In the end, she couldn't help covering her face with her hands.
Like winter snow over a field, set over a roaring bonfire and melted open.
After Jiang Nian got home, he touched his neck in front of the mirror. He thought Xu Qianqian was quite the pervert too, getting into the S and M thing.
But all in all, it was good as long as Xu Qianqian was fine.
Damn it, I'm not a simp.
He lowered his head and looked at his jeans. After deliberating for a while, he suddenly felt that Xu Qianqian, without him realizing it, also seemed quite...
Plump.
Click, he returned to his room and closed the door.
Jiang Nian sat back down at his desk, the lingering images in his mind impossible to shake off. He glanced at his phone—no messages.
He took a deep breath and kept his head down, working on the test paper until two.
The next day.
Jiang Nian yawned as he washed up, wiped the mist off the mirror, and thought to himself that 【Lucky Draw】 had already refreshed for over two days. He muttered to himself, "I'll buy a lottery ticket at noon, probably win a few thousand."
Winning the grand prize wasn't very likely; fewer and fewer people bought this stuff. Even with a cheat, it wouldn't trigger many times.
You've got the Sharingan opened, huh, slicing me up for analysis.
So saying, he grabbed his bag and headed out.
On the shoe rack across the way, Xu Qianqian's shoes were still placed there. It was getting colder and colder. Xu Shao couldn't get up early either, choosing to huddle in.
Breakfast shop entrance.
In the distance, he spotted Zhou Haifei buying steamed buns. He thought Sister Feifei was doing well too, no longer eating the hard buns from the cafeteria.
Probably the scholarship has been deposited—Empress Fangfang had asked earlier when it would arrive.
Being self-reliant is good.
Jiang Nian casually bought buns and soy milk; after walking through the thick fog, he realized Zhou Haifei had stopped, as if waiting for him.
Huh?
He took two steps forward and handed her the soy milk.
"You're waiting for me?"
Zhou Haifei was stunned. She'd only stopped for Jiang Nian because she thought it was just polite—seeing him and walking past felt rude.
Seeing Jiang Nian offer the hot soy milk, she quickly waved her hands.
"I don't want the soy milk."
Jiang Nian offered it again, casually saying:
"It's not free—I'm buying some intel from you."
Zhou Haifei didn't know what he meant by "intel," but guessed it had to do with Xu Qianqian, so she reluctantly took it.
Zhou Haifei had no idea what information he was referring to, guessed it was probably about Xu Qianqian, and could only accept it.
They walked side by side toward school for a while; Jiang Nian asked about Class Four—attendance, among other things.
"Has your homeroom teacher stopped caring lately?"
"Yeah, that's right." Zhou Haifei found it odd he'd ask this, but still gave every detail.
"Alright, thanks." Jiang Nian looked at the school gate just ahead. "Next time I need info, I'll come to you."
"Alright, thanks." Jiang Nian looked at the school gate right before him and said, "Next time I still need information,
"Why don't you just ask Xu Qianqian—or Song Xiuyun?"
Jiang Nian smiled and turned to look at her.
"What if the info I need is connected to them?"
"Ah?" Zhou Haifei suddenly felt a chill down her back.
Shit—I'm on the wrong boat.
She stared at the hot soy milk she'd poked a hole in, swallowed hard, and stammered:
"Can I give the soy milk back? I… I won't be a spy. They're so pretty—I'd get ostracized if they found out."
Hearing this, Jiang Nian paused.
A flicker of understanding came to him: Xu Qianqian and Song Xiuyun didn't play cliques, but they were both popular in class.
Anyone who had conflict with them would naturally be shunned by some.
"No," he said, "I'm not asking you to be a spy. Calm down. Don't be afraid—I just want to ask you some ordinary things."
If anyone had a conflict with them, they would naturally be isolated by a portion of the people as well.
Class Four is no longer a place shrouded in fog.
But buying intel for a cup of soy milk? Only I could pull that off. Sister Feifei is way too cheap.
A small household saves where it can—I haven't even saved enough for a bride price shard; no need to feel pity for informants.
Morning reading.
A scream came from Class Three—Li Hua, who was reading aloud, suddenly jumped into the aisle and started awkwardly dancing. "Oh my god, who threw ice cubes on my back?!"
Yao Bei Bei, who had swapped seats with Jiang Nian, laughed and shook the edible ice cubes inside his thermos.
"Hey, you dance pretty well."
"Chishi Chishi!!" Li Hua reacted instantly—it was just small ice chunks, not enough to soak his back. He danced twice, and the ice fell out.
"Yao Bei Bei, how are you even more evil than Jiang Nian?!"
Li Hua's loud voice reached the back row; Jiang Nian, temporarily moved, looked up.
"Red Rock Red Rock!!" Li Hua instinctively reacted—luckily it was only small ice chips, and they wouldn't leave his back all wet. Li Hua jumped a couple of times, and the small ice chips came tumbling out.
Yao Bei Bei took the seat; Jiang Nian lost his chance to tease Baby Zhizhi. And after morning reading comes the weekly quiz—I'm stuck with Baby Zhizhi! (sob)
He's gotten addicted to touching legs lately—no touch for a day feels like three autumns. Not really lewd, just pure lust.
Yao Bei Bei's seat was closer to Yu Zhiyi. But their group had switched seats last weekend and was pushed to the first major row.
No familiar faces front, back, left, or right—only Zhou Yuting.
He'd recently gotten a bit addicted to touching her leg—one day without it felt like three autumns apart. It wasn't exactly exciting, purely just a leg fiend.
She turned to look at Jiang Nian twice; on the third time, she finally spoke.
"Are you guys playing in the afternoon match?"
"I guess." Jiang Nian yawned, uninterested. "Ask Yang Qiming—he's on the soccer team too."
"Hmm." Zhou Yuting hit a wall, but had no recourse. "Actually, I'm quite interested in soccer."
Yang Qiming waited a while, then noticed no response beside him. He turned and asked Zhou Yuting:
"Right?" Jiang Nian said without much interest, yawning, "Go ask Yang Qiming, he's also on the soccer team."
"Oh, I got it wrong." Zhou Yuting tapped her chin with a quick-dry pen and smiled. "I'm actually interested in the guy behind the basketball team—Jiang Nian." He nearly laughed out loud. Zhou Yuting knew nothing about basketball. If she truly liked basketball, she'd have been snatched up long ago.
She only liked fishing. Fishing master.
After morning reading, Jiang Nian returned to his seat to fetch exam supplies, tidied his desk, and completed his daily task: touching legs.
"You!" Zhang Nenzhi flushed with annoyance and slapped him. "I'm packing up—don't mess around. Here, take this."
She shoved a carton of milk into Jiang Nian's hands and went back to her work.
After morning reading ended, Jiang Nian returned to his seat to fetch his exam supplies, tidied his desk, and completed his daily task of touching legs.
"You!" Zhang Ningzhi flushed with embarrassment and gave him a light tap, "I'm packing up, don't fool around—here, take this."
She shoved the milk into Jiang Nian's hands and resumed her work.
As for Silver Demon Jiang Nian, a slight twinge of guilt rose in his heart. Baby Zhizhi was the best in the world, yet here he was thinking only about touching her legs.
That wasn't right. Next time he'd touch her hand first.
The first and second periods were an English quiz, and the long break between them didn't require the morning jog.
Some of the class rushed off to the cafeteria, others stepped out of the classroom to sun themselves in the corridor, and a few went off in pairs to drain the snake.
Jiang Nian stayed at his exam seat, lying on the desk and watching the class monitor.
Li Qingrong was looking at the English paper she'd just finished. She'd been staring at it for a full five minutes, her gaze fixed on a single page.
"Class monitor, was the listening section hard?" he leaned over and asked curiously.
A faint blush crept across Li Qingrong's face. She nodded.
"Mm.
."
"Which question? Let me see." Jiang Nian said with keen interest.
Li Qingrong thought for a moment, then spoke.
"Pinch my leg."
