Chapter 422: Pretty and Special
On the third floor, amidst a crowded throng.
Lü Xuan waved at Jiang Nian, her expression clearly cheerful.
"Over here!"
Jiang Nian was stunned, thinking: Why is Xi Yangyang calling me?
"Huh?"
The next second, eyes from all directions converged on him.
"Why is another girl coming after you, damn it! And she's an unknown beauty—Jiang Nian, why the hell aren't you a loser?"
After seeing this, Li Hua's already stifled heart grew even more agonized, unleashing a hysterical curse.
"Just die already, fuck!"
He wasn't jealous of his buddy's success—the problem was his buddy was too successful. And his romantic luck kept rising, still climbing.
Even more painful was this.
This wasn't fake luck—it was real luck!
"Fuck, what the hell is going on with Jiang Nian?" Ma Guojun also realized something was off, "How many is this now?!"
"Holy shit, this is fucking ridiculous!" Liu Yang also caught on, "So our whole team only he has a cheer squad?"
"It's not like that—I don't know her well," Jiang Nian quickly defended, "I'm just a shy person."
"Shy your mom! You make me sick!"
"Damn it, thinking about how I'll win the match and Jiang Nian will still get to show off makes me feel physically ill—I want to defect!"
Disloyal? Shoot Lin Dong on the spot!
"Guys, any ideas? Something that lets us win while making Jiang Nian lose utterly, completely humiliated?"
Li Hua's thoughts were even more malicious—he needed a full machine-gun barrage.
Too many haters. Going dark.
"Why did you come over?" Jiang Nian glanced at her, looked around, and noticed Xu Qianqian wasn't nearby—he didn't care much for Lü Xuan, since they weren't really familiar.
"To watch the match—it's semifinals, after all," Lü Xuan smiled. "Don't look at me like that—I'm not here to spy."
"Spy on what?" Jiang Nian froze.
"Intelligence!"
"Qingbao isn't yours to steal like that," Jiang Nian retorted, then warned, "You'd better behave yourself."
Lü Xuan knew he meant the sugar-craving—her face flushed with guilt.
She really had come to chase sugar—thinking such an important match, Li Qingrong would surely be here.
But then she turned around.
"Wait, where's your class?"
"In self-study."
Lü Xuan was stunned, frozen in place. Li Qingrong wasn't here—then why had she come?
"Come on, aren't you here to watch the match?"
「
"I… I'll watch a bit longer." Lü Xuan wanted to run, but looked up and saw Jiang Nian make the classic Xi Yangyang hand gesture.
"You!!" She broke down, gritting her teeth, "I… I really like matches—I'll cheer for you now."
Hearing this, Jiang Nian smiled.
Can't control others, but can't I control you?
The entire Class Three team had already gone downstairs to the field—he figured he should leave too, so he said:
"I'll keep this secret for life."
Lü Xuan:
Jiang Nian arrived at the sports field and saw Xu Qianqian and the two girls outside.
He waved at them.
Xu Qianqian's gaze, which had been scanning the crowd, froze when she saw Jiang Nian wave—then she pretended to look at the scenery.
"Do your best, try to beat our class."
"No sense of class pride?" Jiang Nian looked at the two girls curiously. "How long are you planning to watch?"
"Why are you asking that?" Xu Qianqian looked puzzled.
"Oh, I won a cafeteria meal card," Jiang Nian said, pulling out the card and handing it to Xu Qianqian.
She automatically took it—after all, there was nothing wrong with accepting Jiang Nian's things.
"Where'd you win it?"
"From the pitcher game—teacher's prize," Jiang Nian said briefly. "Anyway, our teacher gave me this card."
"You know I already have a few meal cards. Take these—after all, don't let the water flow to someone else's field."
When Jiang Nian said this, Xu Qianqian didn't find it strange—after all, Jiang's family always saved her half a watermelon.
After all, she wasn't an outsider. Jiang Nian had never hesitated to use her savings before. "Alright, thanks," Xu Qianqian took the white card. "We'll watch a bit, then go eat."
"Good. This little match isn't worth watching," Jiang Nian casually boasted, "Your class is too weak—wait till the finals…"
"Look at you, all puffed up," Xu Qianqian rolled her eyes. "Win first, then talk. Our class plays every day."
"Hehe." Jiang Nian turned and ran into the sports field.
Before the match began, he glanced at Class Four's lineup.
He exhaled in relief—sure enough… Class Four had few cheerleaders too; Xu Qianqian and Song Xiyun were standing on the other side.
After all, watching matches gets boring—few people want to watch every single one.
"Beep----!!!"
The whistle pierced the sky, drawing every eye on the field.
Lv Xuan stood in an open spot, watching the match with a listless air—without any sweet moments to enjoy, she felt utterly listless.
"Class Four! Victory!"
Clap clap! (A crisp round of applause)
"Class Four! Victory!"
Clap clap!
One could only say Class Four truly had its loyal ministers. Not everyone was a traitor like Xu Qianqian, who never once thought of Class Four's dynasty.
The Class Four cheer squad grew louder and louder.
However, less than three minutes into the game—
After Jiang Nian dribbled the ball and scored, the Class Four cheering stopped dead, much to the delight of Li Hua and the others.
"Ha, loyalty that isn't absolute is absolutely disloyal!"
"Way too weak, buddy."
"Why'd the cheer squad go quiet? Got something on their minds?"
The Class Four players were about to blow their tops. It was the first time they'd seen a team of such smug little weasels, every single one of them taunting on their own.
"Damn, are these guys for real?"
"Class Three's idiots, just a shoddy troupe." The Class Four captain took a deep breath. "Don't panic, they've only got one real player!"
"Think about all the practice we've put in. Our strength is in our teamwork."
"Right! That idiot can't possibly play the whole game!"
"Go for it!!"
Class Four began organizing their attack. Less than eight minutes in, they launched three consecutive assaults, hammering away at the opponents' backline.
With no offside rule, both sides went back and forth with ferocious intensity.
Until—
Class Four's main striker suddenly noticed two men tailing him. No matter where he ran, they stuck to him like glue.
After being shadowed twice in a row, his teammates gave up passing to him.
The striker instantly snapped, cursing up a storm.
"Shit, where the hell did these idiots come from? You're practically glued to me—two on one, you call that football?"
Lin Dong scratched his head but said nothing.
The Class Four striker cursed as he charged off in another direction. Just then a ball flew in, not far from him. He sprinted over eagerly, just as he was about to trap it—out of the corner of his eye, he caught a figure sliding straight in. That one vicious, powerful tackle made his heart jump into his throat!
Why dodge? Because I am the son.
Clearly, the Class Four striker had no desire to become a son. So he could only give up the ball and loudly protest to the referee.
But since the tackle didn't connect, there was naturally no yellow card either.
The Class Four striker completely lost it, cursing the referee along with everyone else.
"You blind ref? If that bastard had taken me out, do you think I could still be playing today?"
The referee glanced at him and reached for his whistle.
The Class Four striker immediately backed down, waving his hand to show he yielded. Only then did the referee let it go, gesturing for play to continue.
True to form for a traditional player—changing faces comes fast.
On the field.
Jiang Nian kept weaving through with the ball, secretly lamenting that no one was running a betting pool. Otherwise he could toss in a few hundred and treat his teammates to a meal.
No tricks—just attack!
As for Class Three's players, defenders Liu Yang and Sun Zhicheng. As they ran and ran, they turned into forwards, while the forwards just kept their heads down and slid in for tackles.
Lin Dong took down the Class Four striker again, then helped him up on his own.
"Sorry about that."
The Class Four striker was instantly left speechless—damn, this guy's actually polite.
But his shin had already started aching faintly. One more tackle like that and he'd have to come off, sending on a substitute.
The man in front of him was shortening his football career.
"Holy shit, are these people sick?"
"Watch out, don't let them tackle you—those greenhorns who've never played a match. They don't know how hard they're kicking, zero manners."
Over twenty minutes into the game, Class Three led comfortably 2-0.
"Let's go, doesn't look like much suspense left." Xu Qianqian marveled from the sidelines. "Jiang Nian's still such a scoundrel."
"What?" Song Xiyun didn't follow.
She only felt Jiang Nian was pretty impressive—even with the field in total chaos, he could still charge left and right, dribble, and score.
"Class Three keeps fouling. Our class practiced so long, and the other side never even thought of facing us head-on."
After saying that, Xu Qianqian took Song Xiyun's hand and headed for the teachers' cafeteria.
"Let's go, in a bit he'll come find us to show off again."
Coming out of the sports field, passing through the basketball courts—Xu Qianqian glanced casually and her gaze lingered on a familiar figure.
Long legs, a face with a bit of baby fat.
A girl from Jiang Nian's class?
She remembered one day during lunch break, going up to the fourth floor, she'd seen that person. But right now, beside that person was another girl with a fresh, pretty face.
Holding milk tea in hand, seemingly heading toward the sports field.
Wang Yuhe was chattering around Chen Yunyun when she caught sight of Xu Qianqian out of the corner of her eye and turned to look at her again.
Their eyes met, and she couldn't help but be surprised.
"What a beautiful girl!"
Chen Yunyun turned her head to look at her. "What?"
"Two girls just walked by—gorgeous and distinctive," Wang Yuhe chattered on. "By the way, they're the same two who came looking for Jiang Nian last time."
Chen Yunyun: "Huh?"
Whooo—!!!
A long whistle pierced the twilight of the sports field; Class Three won 3–1 in a last-minute victory.
"Class Four is pretty strong too—they switched so many players and still managed to score one goal," Li Hua remarked. "Truly admirable..."
"Stop blabbing and take off your jersey!" Liu Yang walked over.
He yanked at Li Hua's vest. "Hurry up, hurry up—time to eat!"
"Cheer for me! Applaud me!" Lin Dong tossed his head. "Those guys were pretty built—they actually held out."
"We won! This victory didn't come easy," Jiang Nian crossed his arms and sighed. "Next time, we'll be on the championship field:"

"Stop blabbing—time to eat," Liu Yang grabbed Jiang Nian's vest and yanked him.
He was PE monitor and head of logistics, sick of this bunch of idiots. All they did was sigh and marvel while someone else was yelling to collect the jerseys.
"Oh, okay, let's eat," Jiang Nian nodded. After a simple post-match handshake, he walked straight toward the spectators.
"When did you get here?"
Chen Yunyun smiled and handed him a juice. "When you were up 2–0, right when Class Four started their comeback."
As she spoke, she brushed off the dust on his sleeve.
"Jiang Nian, Jiang Nian!" Wang Yuhe stuck out her waist and declared, "If I'd played, they wouldn't have scored at all."
"Shi Shi," Li Hua leaned over. "Friend, do you know why their comeback was so fierce?"
"Why?"
"Because our math rep slid and stepped on their groin, and our PE monitor just tackled their star player right down."
Wang Yuhe: "Huh?"
"What nonsense," Jiang Nian shoved Li Hua. "Call them—let's go eat somewhere else."
As he spoke, he turned to look at Chen Yunyun and the others.
"Coming with us?"
"No thanks, you guys go ahead," Chen Yunyun said. "We just saw two really pretty girls."
