Chapter 432
No, there's no limit on quantity.
Hearing this, Zhang NenZhi let out a breath of relief.
"Good."
Saying this, she furrowed her brow, her small face solemnly warning Jiang Nian.
"Chickens are ugly—don't you dare use my name to raise them!"
"What if it's a rabbit?" Jiang Nian asked.
This stumped Zhang NenZhi for a moment; she pondered briefly.
"Fine."
People like Zhang NenZhi are easiest to pacify—just praise them.
"Actually, bunnies aren't that cute—they're just a tiny bit less cute than you."
"Really?" Zhang NenZhi immediately brightened, her eyes curving into crescents, "Have you raised a bunny then?"
"I raised a pig."
Hearing this, Zhang NenZhi's face instantly fell, turning from sunny to stormy.
"How dare you use my name—you're done for!"
"I didn't use yours."
Nearby, Li Hua, unable to resist his curiosity, asked.
"Whose name did you use?"
"Hey, why do you care so much? It wasn't yours anyway."
In truth, Jiang Nian had used Yu Tongjie's name—to warn himself. This was the young master's world; he must work harder.
Big break.
Before the running exercise announcement sounded, Cai Xiaoqing stepped onto the podium to mention the class fee.
"Short version: to fund the class New Year's Eve party, everyone must pay twenty-one—heard twenty, the class sighed in relief.
If it were a hundred, it'd be unbearable. Some students get weekly pocket money, spent entirely by Sunday.
"Twenty's fine—I still have some loose change."
"This month, after food, I only had fifty left—take away twenty and just kill me now."
Students officially registered as impoverished didn't have to pay; Cai Xiaoqing simply checked their names on the list and would collect from Old Liu later.
"ZhiZhi, pay for me—I'm so poor, so poor," Jiang Nian whined, "I can barely survive, begging everywhere."
Zhang NenZhi glanced at him, then turned away.
"Hmph—I'll decide based on my mood!"
Hearing this, Jiang Nian thought: if it's based on her mood, it's definitely settled. So he whooped, opened his thermos, and slurped hot water. Cai Xiaoqing really was brief—she said two sentences, saw no objections, and stepped down.
"All expenses will be publicly posted."
Then, the arts committee member stepped up.
Dong Que, a small girl, had a nice singing voice and was generally outgoing; her nickname was Little Skylark.
But Jiang Nian always misheard it as Baque Ling—it was an auditory illusion.
She wore a pink down jacket paired with beige long pants, looking youthful and
just a little bit trendy.
A classic trend-chaser.
"Everyone, sign up enthusiastically—each group must submit one performance. No allowing only group singing; there's a limit."
Her sweet voice ended, but no one took it seriously.
"Group leader, what performance should we do?"
"Group singing."
"Sing 'Fruit Power' or 'Cell Racer.'"
"Aren't we not allowed group singing?"
"That's just for show—we'll do group singing anyway. It's not about what she wants—it's about what we've got."
"Wuhu! Dark Rose!"
Behind the running crowd.
Xu Shuang stared expressionlessly as her idiot younger brother wandered through the crowd holding a card, showing off and shouting nonsense.
She sighed inwardly—hopeless.
She turned her gaze away, but couldn't help recalling yesterday's scene. Still couldn't figure out how that person had drawn the card.
Top students have a quirk: they must know the answer.
Things they're uninterested in don't matter, but once their mind fixates, it's like an OCD attack—they must know the answer.
Last night, she searched online but found nothing useful.
Now that she was relaxed, her mind involuntarily drifted: deconstructing, reverse-engineering, brainstorming, then verifying—but it was all useless.
All failed.
Gao San at Zhennan High had only four zero classes; the science zero class sat at the back, directly adjacent to the Olympiad Class Three.
School leadership had once raised objections.
The arts zero class leading the run lacked yang energy—it carried bad symbolism. Better to let the science zero class lead, for good fortune.
Of course, the suggestion was rejected.
But the Olympiad-level running formation did have science classes leading, which stirred resentment from the zero class homeroom teacher.
He muttered darkly under his breath: why not?
Xu Shuang stood among the girls' formation; the total number in Class Zero wasn't large. Even with the class flag carried, it looked from afar like half a class.
She turned her head and easily spotted Jiang Nian behind her.
"How the hell did you do it?"
"What?"
Hearing this, Xu Shuang glanced at the girl beside her and slowly shook her head.
"Nothing."
"Oh, okay." The girl couldn't help but glance again at Xu Shuang, envious of her fair skin.
She looked good, came from a good family, and still had such great grades—but her personality was cold. Fortunately, she was still easy to get along with.
If she knew Xu Shuang had just been watching a boy, she wouldn't just drop her jaw—she'd be speechless.
Too strange.
Odd.
Xu Shuang spent most of her time managing her monkey of a younger brother. She'd never accepted any advances from boys, let alone paid attention to any of them.
"Middle ones!! Back ones!!"
The leader was having another emotional breakdown—a wildly abstract roar that boomed through the loudspeaker, echoing across the entire sports field.
"What kind of running is this? Add another lap. I say stop, and only then do you stop! Only stop when you run in perfect formation!"
At this, the Class Three formation erupted in a storm of curses: "Asshole!"
"What the fuck, is he crazy?"
"Fucking hot as hell—what the fuck? Run your fucking ass off? I should've just stayed upstairs today—fuck this!"
"Are you kidding? What's the leader on now?"
"Who knows? Got greened this morning?" Lin Dong panted. "Don't let me find his daughter's QQ number!"
"I'm done, I'm not running!" Li Hua cursed, but kept running, "What the hell is he on about? I still need to buy water!"
The big fat guy was nearly done too, and mocked him.
"You stop, I stop."
"If Jiang Nian stops, I'll..." Li Hua was about to say that, then turned his head—"Holy shit, where the fuck is Jiang Nian?"
"While the leader was yelling, he walked out," Tao Ran said plainly, "He should be sitting over there now."
"Cool. I should've done that too."
Li Hua was stunned, unable to face the fat guy's gaze. He lowered his head and silently kept running, no longer bold.
"Why aren't you barking anymore?" Ma Guojun asked.
"Fuck!"
Most of Class Three were still pretty obedient; there weren't many as bold as Jiang Nian—everyone else was dutifully running laps.
After one full circuit, their resentment was nearly tangible.
"Fuck, why the hell isn't he calling a stop?"
"Holy shit, we've run four laps already!"
When Xu Shuang heard they had to add a lap, she immediately stopped. On the edge of the track, she casually took two steps.
She looked back and saw several others had also stepped out.
She'd originally planned to leave the sports field entirely, but spotted a familiar figure and turned back to greet them.
"You came out too?"
"Yeah."
The leader was already scolding those who had stopped, his voice furious:
"Some people actually stopped? Can't even run one lap seriously? It's because of people like you that everyone has to run extra laps!"
Jiang Nian wasn't fazed at all—he thought, Go fuck yourself.
Stop? I'm just walking out.
Seeing Jiang Nian walk without hesitation toward the sports field exit, Xu Shuang didn't hesitate long—she followed right after.
and went up.
"I'm not in good health. I can't run."
"Hmm." Jiang Nian turned his head, puzzled why she felt the need to explain to him. He paused for a few seconds. "I'm in good health."
Now it was Xu Shuang's turn to feel awkward.
"Then... you don't have to run either."
"True." Jiang Nian didn't waste words, walking along the track's edge toward the exit. "I've never seen him."
"Huh?" Xu Shuang looked up.
"I mean the leader—I've never seen him," Jiang Nian said without turning back. "Some fucking idiot suddenly started giving orders."
Hearing this, Xu Shuang pressed her lips together.
"He's the vice principal."
The sports field was too noisy; the Jiang Nian ahead didn't seem to have heard. Xu Shuang thought for a moment, then stepped forward quickly.
They were just ascending the stairs when she leaned in and shouted loudly:
"That's the vice principal."
