Chapter 657: Qian Bao is a Big Idiot
At the end of spring, the sky brightens earlier.
Jiang Nian walked on the street, unlike when school had just started. It was pitch black then, with only thin mist and dim lights visible.
At the steamed bun stall, white steam billowed.
The owner had been guarding against him, and seeing that Jiang Nian didn't pull any stunts and had left, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
Damn it, why is money so hard to earn?
This is awful!
Jiang Nian didn't pay much attention to that; his focus was entirely on the back figure ahead—Princess Feifei was up so early.
He suspected that Zhou Haifei was starting her early morning study plan again.
Whenever a major exam approached, this person would start preparing.
Sure enough, after Jiang Nian caught up, he found Zhou Haifei with a vegetable bun in her left hand and a biology booklet in her right, muttering to herself.
"No way, is she really this intense?"
Zhou Haifei was completely absorbed in reciting, her walking almost on autopilot. She was startled out of her wits by the sudden interruption.
"Ah?"
The bun in her hand rolled out, but she grabbed it tightly again. She squinted at Jiang Nian before saying.
"It's you."
"Yeah." Jiang Nian was stunned for a moment.
Having money to eat one's fill really can make a person more confident. Zhou Haifei was dressed the same, but she wasn't as nervous anymore.
Lan Lan had provided a lot of support, and Zhou Haifei had been forced to interact with visiting students, leading to significant changes.
"Preparing for the first mock exam?"
"Yes." Zhou Haifei nodded, then hesitated for a moment before saying, "Because many students have been going to the psychological counseling room lately."
"Many?"
"Mm, it increased after the exam." She explained, "In the past, I could recite books during my free time."
"Now I'm almost too busy to handle it; the appointments are nearly full."
Hearing this, Jiang Nian was somewhat surprised. He had thought Lan Lan's place was busy, but he hadn't expected it to be busy enough to wear down the threshold.
Was the difficulty of the diagnostic test really that high?
Actually, it wasn't low.
The school had increased the difficulty of the basic questions, adding a few more twists. As a result, many people didn't even finish writing them.
For a student like Jiang Nian, however, it didn't have much of an impact.
Even with a twist, wasn't it still a basic question?
As they spoke, Zhou Haifei stopped at the red pavilion. She turned and glanced at him, clearly intending to recite her books.
"Is that so? Then you're quite hardworking." He didn't say much else, "Good luck, I'm heading up first."
"Okay." She nodded.
Jiang Nian still remembered Lan Lan's instructions and was somewhat distracted; he only subconsciously looked back after walking quite a distance.
Zhou Haifei was still standing there, probably waiting for him to leave before entering the pavilion.
In the senior building, Huang Fang had just finished filling her thermos with hot water.
Just as she entered the classroom, she passed the metal locker.
She saw Jiang Nian holding a piece of paper, fiddling with a combination lock.
"Whose locker is that?"
"Wang Yuhe's."
"Oh." Huang Fang nodded; that wasn't strange, as they hung out with Jiang Nian all day. "Forgot the password?"
"Something like that."
As Jiang Nian spoke, it clicked open. He glanced at the number combination and couldn't help but be speechless at Wang Yuhe.
What was she thinking, using her own student ID number?
The metal locker wasn't large, perhaps only slightly bigger than a textbook. But the depth was quite good, enough to hold twenty books.
Wang Yuhe's locker was relatively empty, containing only a few scattered books, some miscellaneous items, and a large pile of duck feet.
Jiang Nian didn't hesitate and took them all.
After placing a note inside, he slammed the locker door shut. He was even very meticulous, twisting the password back to its initial state.
As morning self-study approached, the number of people gradually increased.
Even though the bell hadn't rung, low sounds of morning reading drifted out from the classroom. The countdown hanging on the wall was exceptionally glaring.
Jiang Nian originally didn't feel much, until Li Hua arrived. As soon as this guy sat down, he took out his vocabulary book to read.
"Habit, habit, habit!"
Li Hua's loud recitation drew many gazes from inside and outside the group. He became even more smug, puffing out his chest and continuing to read.
"Hah... cough, cough, cough!!!"
He shouted too loudly and choked on his own saliva.
"What is he doing?" Ceng You asked, suspecting Li Hua had gone insane. "Who provoked him again?"
"Nobody." Jiang Nian was also baffled.
"It's the final flash of brilliance before death," Ma Guojun provided the answer. "I heard that village guardians are crazy and foolish their whole lives."
"But in the last few days of their lives, they suddenly have a flash of clarity. They become normal people, chopping wood and carrying water and such."
"Mm..." The few of them looked at Li Hua and nodded in unison. "Come to think of it, that explanation makes much more sense."
"Indeed."
"Damn it!" Li Hua sneered, acting out of character. "Don't disturb my studying."
"You bunch of bad influences!"
Saying this, he continued to read loudly from his vocabulary book.
The few "bad influences" who had gathered around looked at each other, all wearing expressions of disbelief.
"Turned over a new leaf?"
"Heartbreak."
"The website must have been reported; he can't open it. He looked all night and couldn't find it, so he had to settle for the calendar."
"That's pathetic."
Li Hua turned a deaf ear to his "bad friends'" insults and stubbornly recited vocabulary for the entire morning self-study.
He felt he had gained a huge amount, his brain feeling much fuller.
It was as if he were on the streets of London, having a spiritual
exchange with British gentlemen, chatting with priests, and having no contact with the unrefined.
The next second, he felt empty again.
Should he balance work and rest?
Just as he was about to reach for his phone, he felt two damp, cold gazes. They were focused on him, and he couldn't help but tremble.
He turned his head and saw the smiles of Jiang Nian and Ceng You.
Ceng You directly used the Great Desolation Prison Heaven Finger, amused.
"I told you, he's a loser."
"Intermittent ambition, Hua," Jiang Nian shook his head, looking disappointed. "So disappointing."
Li Hua was furious; these two actually looked down on him so much.
How could a sparrow know the ambition of a swan!
Just you wait!
"Who said I was going to play? Can't I just scratch an itch?" Li Hua argued. "Geez, seriously!"
He launched a barrage of sarcasm at Ceng You and Jiang Nian.
"Some people are born with the talent for learning, they're just not good at memorizing; you wouldn't understand."
"With my golden perseverance, I'll soon get a 130 in English!"
After doing all that, Li Hua regretted it.
Just as the first class started, he yawned. Jiang Nian suddenly slapped his shoulder and shouted.
"Li Hua, don't sleep!"
"Damn it!"
In the second class, his pen accidentally rolled to the floor. As he bent down to pick it up, Ceng You shouted directly.
"Teacher! Li Hua is sliding under the desk to sleep!"
"Your mother!!"
During the long break.
Cai Xiaoqing walked onto the podium, carrying a bag of phones. She told the class to bring their textbooks and go to the public lecture.
The English public lecture was mainly to record two sessions of material with Qian Bao.
A burst of cheers erupted in the class; this was almost no different from playing, and they would be on weekend break right after.
Plus, they had gotten their phones back early.
"Hey."
Zhang Ningzhi poked Jiang Nian, looking expectant as she asked, "Are we still sitting together later?"
"Aren't you sitting with the Huang girl?"
"Pfft, stop giving people random nicknames!" Zhang Ningzhi scolded him, "The three of us can sit together."
Good grief, Zhizhi wants to have it both ways again.
Truly greedy.
"I want to be with Li Hua and the others," Jiang Nian said; it wasn't a refusal, just a habitual bit of stalling.
If he wanted to hang out with Li Hua and the others, Jiang Nian would say he wanted to sit with the class monitor or Chen Yunyun and them.
Conversely, the same applied.
"Hmph! Then go ahead." Zhang Ningzhi stared straight at him with her large grape-like eyes.
"Hey, forget it, forget it." Jiang Nian waved his hand and took the opportunity to say, "I won't go after all."
In a while, he could still touch her legs during class. Zhizhi shouldn't be angry; after all, he had made a "sacrifice."
Zhang Ningzhi didn't know his lecherous thoughts and was still very happy.
"Yay!"
She took snacks out of her schoolbag and stuffed a bag into his hands.
"For you."
Damn it, the dog-training reward is still chasing me.
Jiang Nian accepted it, and his heart felt itchy again. It was all the class monitor's fault; he decided to touch her legs hard after school.
On the other side, Wang Yuhe prepared to open a locker. She brought a pack of duck webs to eat on the way to the administration building.
She took a look; the lock hadn't been touched.
As expected, Jiang Nian is incompetent.
She skillfully dialed the code and opened the lock with a click. Humming a tune, she reached her hand inside, but grabbed nothing.
"Huh?"
Wang Yuhe reached in again, but still touched nothing.
"Where are my duck webs?"
She pulled her hand out and looked; the locker was empty. There were only a few scattered books, and the duck webs had long since vanished.
"Jiang Nian!!!"
On the road, Jiang Nian didn't answer the phone. He saw it was Wang Yuhe calling and hung up on her.
The elementary schooler is still a bit too green.
He had learned a bit about the elementary schooler's level of mental breakdown from Chen Yunyun, which made him feel even better.
In contrast to Jiang Nian's leisurely pace.
Zhou Yuting had just returned from the psychological counseling room, her expression somewhat heavy. Seeing the classroom was empty, she couldn't help but be stunned.
Fortunately, Dong Que had left a note on her desk.
"Administration building..."
Her heart settled, and she packed her things. After rushing out of the classroom, she started to space out again while walking on the road.
She had checked for gaps and filled them based on knowledge points, and had set a study schedule. But implementing it wasn't going smoothly.
The steps and answers often skipped parts, and there was much she couldn't understand.
Asking teachers often meant waiting in line. Asking the top students in class, some were only willing to teach others twice.
For the warm-hearted ones, the lines were often even more exaggerated than at the teachers'.
After being busy for several days, she had gained nothing. She was so anxious she couldn't catch her breath and had to book a psychological consultation.
"Sigh." She let out a breath.
In front of the administration building, Zhou Yuting found Dong Que and the others. They sat together as usual and chatted for a bit.
Seeing her furrowed brows, Dong Que offered her advice.
"You could look for other teachers?"
"Look for teachers?" Zhou Yuting heard this and thought she meant a tutor; the school indeed had teachers who took on students.
Tutoring for the whole course was about ten thousand.
"Is there enough time?" she asked, "There are only a hundred days left, and there's the first mock exam, and..."
"... need to supplement the basics."
Hearing this, Dong Que was stunned.
"Supplement the basics?"
"Ah?"
Dong Que listened for a few sentences before realizing Zhou Yuting had misunderstood. She couldn't help but be speechless and hurriedly waved her hand.
"I meant, find other math teachers to ask."
"Ask who?" Zhou Yuting was confused.
"Any teacher in the math office is fine! I went to the office last time and didn't find the math teacher."
"Then I asked a pretty female teacher; she explained well, and she was nice, just a bit serious."
"Holy crap, this multimedia classroom!" Lin Dong exclaimed, "Damn, how is the principal so rich?"
"Compared to this, our dorm is rotten beyond belief."
Hearing this, Ceng You looked up from his phone.
"Be content."
"I went to my key-class classmate's dorm last time; they were assigned to the first floor, and I was stunned when I walked in at noon."
"It was like a damn water dungeon, not a single ray of light. If a pen dropped, you'd have to use a flashlight to pick it up."
Ma Guojun hadn't lived in a dorm and found it hard to believe.
"Really?"
"If I'm lying, may my parents ascend to heaven," Ceng You patted his chest, "My classmate put an apple on the table, and as a result..."
"Damn!" Ma Guojun felt goosebumps rise and hurriedly took a few looks at the bright multimedia classroom.
This place was called a classroom, but it was actually no different from a recording studio.
The walls were all soundproof material, divided into inner and outer parts. Inside the door was an observation area with several rows of seats.
It was separated from the classroom by a large glass window, and a large screen hung above to broadcast the live feed.
When the people from Class Three went in, the student council was still tinkering with the equipment.
"Where's Jiang Nian?" Li Hua asked.
Ma Guojun pointed in a direction, "He sat with the girls."
"Damn it!"
Li Hua was cursing, but his heart felt relieved. He confidently reached into his pocket, took out his phone, and played with it for a moment.
It was still early, so he played for a while before putting it away.
"Pfft!"
A harsh sound rang out, startling Li Hua. He looked up abruptly, only to find Jiang Nian leering at him.
Damn, when did he sneak over!
"You're hopeless, hopeless." Jiang Nian shook his head, "Hua, you should just find a teacher to tutor you."
"Damn it!" Li Hua subconsciously refused.
The word "tutoring" made him subconsciously feel a bit ashamed. He had never been tutored in his life.
"Time is running out." Jiang Nian patted his shoulder and turned to leave, going to find Zhizhi and the others.
Li Hua's brows were tightly locked; he had actually taken it to heart.
"Tutoring..."
In a science class, a top student getting English tutoring could be a big deal.
Class started, and Qian Bao arrived late.
She only needed to record one class, so she didn't take the bell seriously and communicated with the students recording the class for a bit.
After nodding, she found a few students good at English. She gave them temporary pointers, saying if no one raised their hand, they should step up.
As for Jiang Nian, Qian Bao didn't look for him.
This dog of a person was unreliable and would always say something outrageous. Although the leaders didn't understand English, but...
"Zhang Ningzhi, you in a moment..." Qian Bao was busy setting things up, turning a blind eye to Jiang Nian's gaze.
Suddenly, she felt her sleeve being pulled.
"Teacher, what about me?"
"You just stay put and don't cause trouble." Qian Bao pointed at him and prepared to continue talking to Zhang Ningzhi.
"Years of loyalty, only to be met with such betrayal." Jiang Nian was still blathering, making Zhang Ningzhi laugh.
She covered her mouth and tapped the mischievous Jiang Nian. Then she said seriously, "I'm sorry, Teacher."
Qian Bao waved her hand, indicating it was fine.
After she finished speaking, she looked at Jiang Nian, who was sprawled on the desk like a dead dog, and Li Hua, who was also restless.
Can't ignore the unstable factors.
"Teacher, me, me, me!!!" Li Hua, the big idiot, waved his hand, "Look at me, I want to be on TV too."
Qian Bao:
It is the misfortune of the sect to have such a student.
But the public lecture still had to be recorded, so she thought for a moment. Finally, she had a good idea and called Jiang Nian and Li Hua over.
"I have a task for you two."
Upon hearing this, the two silly dogs instantly perked up.
"Really?"
