155. Chapter 155: How About a Practical Demonstration?

The entire room was silent; you could hear a pin drop.

Everyone's gaze was focused on Shen Huai and Liu Shishi, as if time had frozen.

Lu Sheng's eyes dimmed instantly, as if a shadow had been cast over them.

Lin Yeman raised an eyebrow, a playful smile curling the corners of her lips; she seemed to have anticipated this farce all along.

As for Yang Lan, the smile on her face stiffened for a moment, then she immediately returned to her elegant and composed demeanor.

Only the fingers gripping her champagne glass tightened slightly, betraying her unsettled heart.

Tong Yue was so annoyed she stomped her feet, whispering a curse: "Damn it, how did she beat me to it!"

She was so regretful she wanted to slap herself twice.

If only she had known... if only she had known, she would have reached out her hand too!

She had originally thought that with Yang Lan and Lu Sheng present, she had no chance at all, so she had remained timid and hesitant.

But look at the result—she had been intercepted by Liu Shishi, that quiet one who does big things! "Holy crap, what is this situation? Is General Manager Shen trying to stir up trouble?"

The others noticed the anomaly here and cast curious glances toward them.

"What on earth is that woman wearing? Is that a Dior style from several years ago? It's so outdated, yet she has the nerve to wear it out."

"Yeah, and who knows what kind of dumb luck she had to be chosen by the Second Young Master Shen!"

"We're in for a good show now; General Manager Yang and Director Lu are both here!"

The surrounding whispers buzzed like flies.

But Shen Huai turned a deaf ear, smiling as he reached out his hand toward Liu Shishi.

Liu Shishi was still a bit dazed.

She mechanically relied on instinct to take Shen Huai's hand.

Following his pace, she felt as if she were stepping on clouds; it was so dreamlike it felt unreal.

She secretly raised her eyes to look at Shen Huai, only to see his expression calm and his gaze deep, making him impossible to fathom.

"Sh-Shen Huai..." Liu Shishi's voice trembled; she wanted to ask something, but didn't know where to begin.

Shen Huai turned his head and gave her a reassuring look: "Don't be nervous, relax."

Liu Shishi felt as if she were dreaming; happiness had come so suddenly that she was at a loss.

Blushing, she carefully lifted her skirt and gently rested her hand on Shen Huai's arm, her heart pounding as if it were about to jump out of her throat.

Amidst the jealous or mocking gazes of the crowd, Shen Huai led Liu Shishi through the banquet hall toward the dance floor.

"Hey, you just now..."

Along the way, Liu Shishi kept her head down, too nervous to speak. Shen Huai spoke suddenly, startling her so much she nearly gasped out loud.

"I-I, what about me?"

Liu Shishi asked nervously, her mind beginning to replay whether she had done something wrong again.

"Nothing."

Watching her cautious appearance, Shen Huai couldn't help but want to tease her, so he deliberately paused before continuing, "The dress looks very good."

Only then did Liu Shishi let out a sigh of relief, her cheeks turning slightly red.

"Th-thank you."

Seeing her shy appearance, Shen Huai couldn't help but chuckle.

She was still the same as before, looking exactly like a little rabbit with no sense of security.

There was a long corridor between the dance hall and the banquet hall.

Passing through this corridor, they arrived at the entrance of the dance hall.

Outside the door, two pairs of handsome male and beautiful female servers stood with two large boxes placed in front of them.

Seeing Liu Shishi arm-in-arm with Shen Huai walking toward them, they quickly bowed slightly and pointed to the boxes:

"This way, please. Tonight is a masquerade ball; please choose the masks you like."

It was actually a masquerade ball.

Shen Huai was somewhat surprised. He took a shallow glance; the basket on the left mostly contained masks like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman, while the one on the right held some Disney princesses, feathers, and other exotic masks, as well as various animal-themed ones.

"Which one do you like?" Shen Huai turned to ask Liu Shishi.

Liu Shishi's gaze swept over those flashy masks, finally landing on a pure white feather mask.

"I want that one," Liu Shishi said softly, pointing to the mask.

Shen Huai followed the direction of her finger; the mask was exquisitely crafted, the feathers light and soft, fitting Liu Shishi's delicate temperament perfectly.

The server handed the mask to Liu Shishi, while Shen Huai reached into the other basket and immediately set his sights on a Tuxedo Mask mask.

After putting on the masks, the server opened the dance hall doors for them.

The moment the door opened.

The boisterous music inside surged toward the two of them like a tide.

Brilliant lights, gorgeous decorations, the rustle of clothes, the clinking of glasses—the air was filled with the intoxicating scent of champagne and perfume.

Men and women, wearing all sorts of masks, danced gracefully to the music.

In the middle of the dance floor.

A woman with a graceful figure, wearing a Sailor Moon mask, was "flirting" with a Superman, their behavior incredibly intimate.

Shen Huai's gaze shifted to that Superman, and his movements stalled slightly.

Wasn't that outfit the very suit he had changed out of?

Just then, the music stopped.

The Sailor Moon seemed to have spotted Shen Huai, too; she pushed aside the Superman next to her and walked straight toward Shen Huai.

"Sorry, my official match is here."

The Sailor Moon's voice was crisp and pleasant, though her tone carried a hint of imperceptibility strong-willed force.

Superman was clearly also a person who "knew how to read the room."

He nodded and tactfully stepped aside, leaving the stage to Shen Huai and Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon walked up to Shen Huai, turned her gaze toward Liu Shishi at the side, and her red lips curled into a meaningful smile.

"And who is this?"

"Liu Shishi, my female companion," Shen Huai replied indifferently.

"Oh... a dance partner, then."

Sailor Moon acted as if she hadn't heard the warning in Shen Huai's tone.

She stepped forward, extended her slender, jade-like hand, and opened it before Shen Huai.

"This young lady, you wouldn't mind letting me borrow your dance partner for a few minutes, would you?"

Hearing this, Liu Shishi's expression shifted slightly.

The aura of the woman before her was so powerful that even through the mask, Liu Shishi was pressed by her intense sense of oppression to the point where she couldn't utter a single word.

Shen Huai took a light step forward, blocking Sailor Moon's scrutinizing gaze, and said in a deep voice, "This lady, shouldn't your dance partner be that Superman?"

Seeing that she had been exposed by Shen Huai, Sailor Moon was not the least bit flustered.

She raised her eyes to look at Shen Huai.

Through the two circular holes at the eyes of the mask, Shen Huai discovered that the pair of beautiful eyes before him were unexpectedly familiar...

"No matter how impressive Superman is, he isn't a real human, and some things can only be done between those of the same kind."

Shen Huai was stunned for a moment, instantly realizing the implication of this sentence!

"... You!?"

Before Shen Huai could finish, Sailor Moon extended a finger and placed it lightly against his lips.

"Shh..."

"I have practiced the theory well enough; I know every dance step."

"Next, shall we try some practical application?" (End of chapter)
