Chapter 34: The Revived Official

~7 min read 1,283 words

Hong Du's home.

"Hong Du, my star dream has shattered." Jinli Jianwu hugged Hong Du tightly and shouted sadly.

"Such a good opportunity to be scouted by a talent agent, and I didn't go for just one day, and the company exploded." Jinli Jianwu recalled today's news and burst into tears.

Hong Du, being held in his arms, did not raise his head, could only keep his head lowered, pretending to examine the wood for making a violin:

"It's okay, Jianwu, this was just an accident; you're full of passion for rock, and surely someone will appreciate your talent again."

Hong Du patted the hand of Jinli Jianwu that was wrapped around him and said comfortingly.

"He looks like an ordinary person no matter how you look at him—no scent of a Tooth Blood Vampire, no weak point core, even his intelligence is pitifully stupid; why do I unnaturally want to watch him?"

Today can be considered good luck; although the quantity is relatively small, the harvest is still not bad.

He grabbed Rook's arm and lifted it up, his feet planted firmly in the stream; even Gaoyuan Zhixiu's struggling did not affect Jiang Xia's stability in the slightest.

He wanted to save the crayfish on the stone in the middle of the stream, but the branch in his hand wasn't long enough; then a sudden idea flashed in his mind—he could just go into the water and use his hands to rescue the crayfish.

"Hehe, I'll do it." Rook said.

"Let's observe for two days! I've already placed spiders on him; if anything changes, they'll notify me."

Looking at that man, Jiang Xia nodded thoughtfully, stepped off the lawn, and walked toward the man sitting on the stone in the stream.

This is troublesome… Jiang Xia let out a sigh.

"Plunk!"

"Ah!!! My star dream!!!" Looking at Jinli Jianwu bursting into tears again.

His foot slipped, his body immediately collapsed to the ground, and he instantly fell into the rushing stream.

Jiang Xia casually put his phone into the pocket of his coat; today he was no longer in casual wear, but wore a white shirt with a black vest underneath, topped with a coat, giving him a more mature air.

"Hehehe" Rook waved the branch in his hand with a silly grin, staring foolishly at the crayfish on a stone in the stream.

"Don't worry, Jiang Xia; even if we lose the chance to become stars together, you still have us." Saying that, he stretched out his arms to hug Jiang Xia.

Seeing Jiang Xia turn his head, Jinli Jianwu thought he was sad like himself, immediately suppressed his own bitterness, and said to Jiang Xia comfortingly:

This person wore a beige coat, had black long hair, and inexplicably had a small topknot on his head; judging by his build, he was of a particularly sturdy type.

"I understand, Mr. Jiang Xia." Hong Du nodded slightly.

"Wanted criminals are still as few as ever." Jiang Xia sighed while looking at the wanted poster in his hand.

"Why didn't I find this road so beautiful before?" Jiang Xia stopped his steps to admire the sky-full of floral words.

Rook first spat out a big mouthful of water, then gave Jiang Xia a silly grin and said:

The spring breeze brushed past, pink cherry blossoms filled the sky like snow, petals delicate and sparkling, cherry trees swayed gently, petals danced in the wind, fragrance drifted on the breeze, refreshing the heart and soul.

"Hehe, you saved me."

Compared to his motorcycle, this outfit is trivial; prices in 2008 were still decent, catching a few more wanted criminals would earn back the money—it's basically a profit with no cost.

Just as Jiang Xia's thoughts wandered, he suddenly saw a person sitting on a stone in the stream beside the road; for some unknown reason, that man seemed to especially attract his attention.

If all the Tooth Blood Vampires in the world were as foolish as Jinli Jianwu, such a fool—even if you deceived him, he'd still happily give you money with a grin—then his path of Evolution would be extremely easy.

Seeing Rook already on the verge of death, Jiang Xia still decided to save him, plunging his legs directly into the water.

"Like that, then keep trying." Jiang Xia nodded as if deep in thought.

Unfortunately, foolish Tooth Blood Vampires basically don't exist.

"Um, the crayfish drowned, so I want to go save it." Gaoyuan Zhixiu opened his mouth wide, flailing his arms and legs as he explained to Jiang Xia.

"This person really has a problem."

This is a riverbank; the road rises in the middle, cherry trees line both sides, below is a grassy slope, and the stream water is as clear as a mirror, gently flowing over small stones covered in moss.

And that man was squatting in the middle of the stream, motionlessly staring at a spot,

"Why are you going into the river?" Jiang Xia asked.

I heard most of the cherry blossoms here come from the Himalayas; I don't know how many generations this is, but Jiang Xia enjoyed the fragrance and warmth coming from the air.

"Wait a moment, what if there are Tooth Blood Vampires in this world that can shield against my detection?"

Jiang Xia just watched like that, watching Gaoyuan Zhixiu constantly struggling in the water; even if Rook shouted desperately, Jiang Xia remained motionless.

This guy was like that before he gave up rock—scatterbrained, thick-headed.

Because of this face, many people seeing Jiang Xia assume he's a young child, causing him to waste many words unnecessarily.

"Could he really just be an ordinary person?" Jiang Xia furrowed his brow and observed.

"Are you okay?" Jiang Xia said, looking at Rook's soaking-wet face.

It seems he shouldn't be like this; this inexplicable intuition actually makes Jiang Xia pay extra attention to this person.

He only caught three this morning; compared to other bounty hunters, his efficiency is already high, but Jiang Xia is dissatisfied—he usually catches a dozen or more at once,

but now, after a whole morning, only three remain; it took him a long time to locate them, and after a hard fight he captured them (meaning he sneaked in invisibly and slapped each one).

"Pfft." Jiang Xia could no longer hold back—how could Hong Du say that with an innocent face?

"Hong Du, watch him closely, don't let him do something stupid—I'm going to work." Before leaving, Jiang Xia gave him a special reminder.

Jiang Xia pinched his brow, recalling the process of the two meeting; his own body would not lie,

although he couldn't sense that he was a Tooth Blood Vampire, and he appeared to be a clueless fool, Jiang Xia always felt a sense of dissonance.

Jiang Xia stroked his chin, watching Gaoyuan Zhixiu constantly being washed by the stream.

While the crayfish was waving its claws, he took a firm look, as if filled with strong conviction, extended his legs, intending to grab it directly with his hands.

After turning around, he let out a light sigh and said: "That's it for today; there won't be any other income either, and Tooth Blood Vampires won't show up here."

"No no no, I'm not hurt, I'm fine." Seeing Jinli Jianwu trying to come comfort him, Jiang Xia quickly raised his arm and stepped back to avoid bodily contact.

As expected, Jiang Xia carefully patrolled the area and saw no wanted criminals.

Just as he lifted Rook, Jiang Xia transmitted the spiders onto him; although they are fragile, they themselves are a means of reconnaissance.

Jiang Xia wanted to see what this 'weirdo' actually was.
