Chapter 24: 23. Elemental Arrow
23. Elemental Arrow
Since there is no cost to take on a profession, Li Ang selected Shaman in the profession panel.
The moment he took on the profession, his mind was filled with knowledge on how to communicate with elemental spirits; he already knew most of it, but now he had also learned the incantations.
In the past, he had always relied on magic power and spellcasting materials to drive elemental spirits after communicating with them, but now he had an additional path of supplication.
Can a Shaman inherit the experience of a Spellcaster?
Following Li Ang's thought, the system provided an operable panel. He clicked the inherit button, and instantly, he saw the Shaman panel jump sharply, leaping directly to Tier 4, and he learned a whole bunch of skills all at once.
He looked at Zoe: "Come, try it out by following what I say."
Li Ang guided her to sit on a flat rock and explained to her the method of communicating with the Earth Spirit.
"Relax, take deep breaths, and enter a meditative state where your consciousness is detached yet you can still think. No rush, feel it slowly..."
Before Li Ang had even finished speaking, the young girl had already entered a meditative state in front of him.
He couldn't believe it and wondered if she had fallen asleep, but at that moment, she opened her eyes again, waiting for his next instruction.
"Good, now touch the ground, project your consciousness onto it, and try to imagine yourself merging with the earth. When you can clearly 'see' some slow and heavy people in your heart, try talking to them. Of course, they aren't people; they are Earth Elemental Spirits. You'll find the feeling slowly."
Zoe closed her eyes to search for the sensation, while Li Ang looked at his own panel.
【Practiced Profession: Shaman】
【Tier: 4. Next Tier: 0/2000 Experience】
【Acquired Tier 1 Shaman Skills: Elemental Affinity, Elemental Arrow】
【Acquired Tier 2 Shaman Skill: Elemental Shock】
【Acquired Tier 3 Shaman Skills: Lightning Arrow, Healing Water Wave】
【Acquired Tier 4 Shaman Skills: Elemental Shield, Elemental Summoning】
Li Ang digested the specific effects of the skills for a while. He was quite happy to have finally learned conventional spells.
Besides elemental spells, there were also lightning and healing spells; both were manifestations of the Shaman's ability to communicate with nature spirits.
Tiers 4–6 belong to the Transcendent realm. Shamans at this tier begin to drive elemental power not by supplication, but because of years of cooperation, they have a certain level of control.
To put it another way, old business partners don't need to go through the formalities and pleasantries every time.
This was a great thing for Li Ang; he was used to driving elemental spirits, and the idea of having to supplicate made him feel very awkward.
However, having reached Tier 4 through the system, he had not learned the profession's ultimate technique.
The so-called ultimate technique is just a name; it could also be called a big move or a finishing move. In short, it is a method for a person to maximize their own power.
Li Ang had even seen people who relied on summoned beasts, energy sources, and treasures to unleash ultimate techniques, which often required an extraordinary background.
He had no understanding of the Shaman profession, so it was normal not to know the ultimate technique; he was only learning it as a transition anyway.
Aside from the skills, he also felt that his magic power reserves had increased slightly, though the change was not significant.
As a spellcaster's understanding of spells and control over magic power improve, their stamina grows, and with the same amount of stamina, the total amount of atmospheric magic power they can mobilize also increases; these together determine the magic power reserves.
Li Ang's Spellcaster profession had already reached Tier 9, and anything above that was the legendary Tier 10, which was also the upper limit set by the world's rules, so his magic power reserve growth had basically reached its end.
As a human without a special bloodline, his magic power reserves were already considered above average. Unless one was born with an energy source in their body, most races were about the same as him.
It seems there is no such good thing as increasing magic power reserves twice through the system; he still had to get an energy source as soon as possible.
Then, Li Ang summoned a mass of earth elements in his hand and was just about to test the spell when Zoe spoke to him from the side.
"I felt it; they are saying hello to me."
"?"
It took Li Ang a few seconds to refrain from questioning whether the young girl was joking.
Li Ang had probably spent less than a minute in total operating the profession panel, and she had already perceived it?
"Then ask them if they can lend their power to you? Just think it in your heart."
"When you feel the power they send, use your magic power to catch it, and use your imagination to mold it into the shape of an arrow, like this."
Li Ang channeled his magic power and activated Elemental Arrow—Earth Element. In his palm, the floating dust around him rapidly condensed, manifesting into a shuttle-shaped rock arrow.
It was sharp and hard; without sufficient defensive strength, taking a hit from it would still be very painful.
Although Zoe was a Swordsman, she had been able to cultivate to Tier 2, so she should have a certain level of control over magic power.
Just as Li Ang was thinking this, he saw Zoe raise her hand, and an earth elemental arrow twice as long as Li Ang's condensed in her palm.
The spellcasting talent she displayed could be called monstrous.
Li Ang did not think she was born with this; otherwise, even without anyone teaching her, she would have understood how to use earth elemental magic like an instinct over time. Such examples appeared from time to time in the vast airspace.
This was the influence of the Star Soul; it was almost certain.
"Next, tell the Earth Elemental Spirit that you want to use their power to strike a target."
After Li Ang finished speaking to the young girl, he threw his own earth elemental arrow first.
The sharp rock shuttle struck a giant boulder in front, pinning itself deep into the surface and shattering into countless stone fragments, leaving spiderweb-like cracks in a circle on the boulder.
"Hey!"
Zoe waved her palm with great enthusiasm, and her earth elemental arrow followed, but the momentum was more than twice as strong. It directly pierced through the boulder and then exploded, stones flying everywhere; it was impossible to tell which were the stones brought by her spell and which were the original natural stones.
After the scene calmed down, only a pit filled with rubble remained where the giant boulder had been.
Although Li Ang had cushioned it with one shot first, the power displayed by her spell was truly astonishing.
Li Ang looked at her panel.
【Name: Zoe】
【Race: Unknown】
【Profession: Swordsman, Tier 2. Elemental Spellcaster, Unconfirmed Path, Tier 1 (+)】
【Skills: Star Soul Greenhouse, Swordsman [Strong Physique, Morale Boost], Elemental Spellcaster [Elemental Affinity, Elemental Arrow—Earth Element]】
She had not yet chosen a specific professional path, but because she had learned elemental spells first, it could already be displayed on the panel. There was even a "+" sign after the profession, which should indicate that she was even more powerful than an ordinary Tier 1 spellcaster.
Staring at this girl for several moments, Li Ang thought to himself, don't let it turn out that after all this time, he becomes the Swordsman while she ends up playing with spells.
However, as of today, the doubts about whether Zoe was worthy of being the world's female lead were gone.
First, the constitution of the Star Soul Greenhouse had a connection with the mysterious Island King of this world, and she could become stronger because of it.
Second, the professional adaptability brought by the Star Soul's power—while he didn't know about her performance in other professions yet, her talent as an Elemental Spellcaster alone was enough to make her a powerhouse.
Carrying the ore on their backs, the two chatted about elemental theory while returning home.
Li Ang began to smelt the ore, while Zoe was sent by him to find Water Mist Stones.
He wanted the armor he created to have the Water Flow Array skill, which could improve the stability of tomorrow's battle.
If the quantity was not enough, they would still have to set off tomorrow.
Li Ang had his considerations for why he was in a hurry to go.
First, he knew too little about the Star Soul, but what he could be sure of was that the complete state of a Star Soul must be an existence at the level of the Island King. That was a super monster where every ability basically reached Tier 10, located in its own domain, and with a huge combat power amplification ratio.
Through his previous perception of the spirit, Li Ang sensed that the Star Soul of Satus Island was not very strong. According to the notes, it had just awakened, but he could not be sure of the growth rate of such an existence.
In past team battles, he had encountered monsters that could grow temporarily; if he were slightly negligent, he might never be able to defeat it again.
Secondly, Zoe's safety.
Although the system said that the influence of the soul on her could be defended against by blocking the flow of the spirit, Li Ang had adventured for many years and knew that even the most sophisticated spell formations and defensive mechanisms would still be broken in the face of overwhelming power; this was also the rule of the world.
Subjugate it as soon as possible to avoid long delays.
Or rather, Li Ang was not yet unconfident enough to need to be overly cautious.
When Zoe returned with a small pile of Water Mist Stones, Li Ang set to work.
"As expected, it's not quite enough. It doesn't matter; I'll prioritize the armor and helmet; those two are more important."
"Wait."
Zoe turned and ran back into the house, and before long, she appeared again holding a few more pale blue stones.
What she held in her palm were Water Mist Stones of excellent quality.
The meaning of these beautiful stones was not that their quality would be much higher, but the girl's heart.
Though she looked reluctant, she still put the stones down and slowly pushed them to pile up with the other Water Mist Stones.
Li Ang smiled at her: "I will definitely do it carefully and let them exert their best effect."
"It's okay," Zoe waved her hand: "I'll definitely be able to pick up prettier stones in the future."
Next, he had to measure her body dimensions.
