39. Visitors Under the Veil of Night (Seeking Follows)

The passenger airship of the Kangtan Helm had not yet arrived, so Li Ang and Zoe went to rest first.

In the dead of night, the young girl was fast asleep, clutching her old bedding; her sleeping posture was terrible, with her feet nearly kicking Li Ang in the face.

Li Ang was already exhausted, and not sleeping was impossible, but he adjusted the spirituality of his body's resting mechanism, keeping himself in a half-dreaming, half-waking state to remain vigilant at all times, even allowing him to think.

Five days ago, he was also thinking in the dead of night when he realized Zoe's identity.

Today, within this very day, she fulfilled her destiny deep underground, but this was not the end.

Li Ang had wondered before: Satus Island is isolated from the world, and unlike him, she did not have a ship beacon, so how did she leave in the main storyline that belonged to her?

Those warships and that wolf...

Just as he thought of this, Li Ang heard a powerful roar; it was the sound of a magic-guided propulsion furnace of an airship nearby.

He opened his eyes, fully awake.

Rising softly and coming to the window, he saw one of the magic-guided warships from earlier floating in the sky above Satus Island.

Adjusting the angle, he saw the bow of another ship, indicating that they had already surrounded Satus Island.

And in the nearby woodland, a cluster of blue light ignited.

The light flowed and converged in a spiral like a sheer veil among the trees, and a woman walked out.

She had a voluptuous figure, and her gait was graceful yet somewhat strange; Li Ang observed carefully and discovered it was caused by her stride, as the landing points of her two feet were on a single straight line—not as if done deliberately, but a certain innate habit.

After she drew closer, Li Ang could clearly see her three-dimensional, slightly stern features, yet with the help of her thick, long eyelashes and willow-leaf eyebrows, a touch of softness was revealed, making her a mature beauty of a type completely opposite to Zoe.

She wore a dark blue robe, and the curly hair reaching her waist, along with the pair of conspicuous beast ears atop her head, were also dark blue, fading into an icy blue at the tips of the fur.

Is she of the Beast-Ear Race?

The Beast-Ear Race is one of the many intelligent races of Newbis; their true name is the Tail Race, but the various races prefer to address them by their physical characteristics.

The characteristics of this race are a pair of beast ears and a slender figure, with some branches also possessing beast tails.

Their agility is higher than other races, and they can briefly stimulate their physical potential to enter a state where both strength and speed are simultaneously enhanced.

In this state, their blood flows at high speed and their body temperature soars; to facilitate heat dissipation, the clothing of their race is very revealing, especially the back, which is almost completely exposed.

But the woman walking from the woods was wrapped entirely in a robe and did not look slender; the fruits between her arms trembled as she walked.

She seemed to have a purpose from the start, coming directly to Zoe's house, passing through the front yard, and knocking on the door.

"Hoo—"

Zoe turned over, completely unaware.

Li Ang pinched her face to wake her up, told her to put on her gear and hide in the corner, then walked to the front hall himself.

"Who is it?"

He gathered his magic power and asked through the door.

The woman outside gathered her thoughts and said in a low voice: "Greetings, I have no ill intent."

"The cry of the newborn Star Soul resounded through the heavens and soon returned to calm; its power vanished into the firmament. There is only one possibility for this situation—after traversing thousands of years of time, we have finally waited for the turning point."

The woman said outside the door: "On this island, the light of the Star Soul is everywhere, and they ultimately converged within this house; you should know what I am talking about."

Through the door, her spirit had already probed the house, and Li Ang sensed no hostility.

Li Ang drew a spell pattern to isolate spirits near Zoe's forehead, slowly opened the door, and stood face-to-face with the "Beast-Ear" woman.

Her strange amber slit pupils looked past the door frame at Zoe; she threw the young girl a smile and bowed in greeting, scaring the little girl into shrinking back immediately.

Then, she looked at Li Ang, who had not relaxed his magical tether, her gaze lingering on him even more.

"No wonder, it is you. With your participation, it is no wonder the Earth Star Soul's reaction disappeared. Who exactly are you..."

The woman pondered for a few seconds and said: "My apologies, I should introduce myself first. You may call me 'Eden'."

Li Ang nodded slightly; he had just learned her name, and even more information besides.

[Frost Heaven Giant Wolf Eden (Humanoid)]

[A Star Soul born from absorbing the power of glaciers; this body is the polar region itself. Has existed for thousands of years, but due to the lack of nourishment from a Star Soul Greenhouse, the light of the Star Soul is on the verge of exhaustion.]

[Race: Beast-Ear Race (Mimicry)]

[Profession: Priest, Rank 8]

[Summoned Beast: ?]

[Energy Source: Creation Equation, Rank 8 (Exhausted)]

[Equipment: Star Soul Ice-Binding Blade Armor, Rank 8. Frost Cave Spider Silk Robe, Rank 4.]

[Ultimate: Star Soul Ultimate—Extreme Cold Punishment, Glacier Genesis, Frozen World]

[Skills: Wind and Snow Birth (Pseudo), Primordial Memory, Frost Control, Star Soul Light (Exhausted), Humanoid Avatar, Creator Link (Access Denied)]

[Combat Power Boost: 13%]

The woman before him was another Star Soul.

Only those who master mysterious powers could likely take on a human form. Her combat power boost was not as high as the Earth Serpent, nor even as high as Zoe's; he did not know if it was because the human form lacked the powerful physique of the monster form, or if it had to do with the "exhaustion."

"I will not hand her over to you." Li Ang shielded Zoe, subconsciously pondering their combat strength and how to respond.

Although she appeared in a weaker human form, she likely had no intention of fighting.

Eden scanned the two of them back and forth and said: "Please do not worry, I feel only gratitude."

She looked at Zoe and said: "When I felt the turning point appear at the far east of the Floss airspace, my greatest worry was the nascent Star Soul in close proximity to her; it would likely only rely on instinct to plunder and devour her power, and then our wait might have to continue for ten million years."

Eden bowed again: "Thank you for your protection, which not only kept her from harm but also allowed her to complete the resonance with the Earth Star Soul."

"So big..." Zoe exclaimed in a tiny voice from behind.

What is this brat focusing on at a time like this!

Li Ang glared at her, seeing her stick out her tongue.

When Eden bent over, those bountiful fruits hung as if without any support; such a situation is indeed rare in anyone other than the Ox-Horn Race, but—

"This is about you, be serious!"

"But, I don't feel that this sister has any ill intent, right?"

For the final question, Zoe turned toward Eden, and Li Ang saw the divine light brighten in her eyes again; this seemed to stem from her instinctual judgment.

Eden also witnessed the runic light in her eyes, and even her cold expression carried a smile of relief.

"I do not know your name." She asked, appearing to respect Zoe greatly.

"He is Li Ang, and I am Zoe."

"Greetings, Divine Child Zoe."

Zoe hid half her body behind Li Ang; although she believed the other party had no ill intent, she was shy, and this was the first time she had heard such a title, leaving her completely unsure of how to respond.

Eden stated her purpose directly: "I have come here precisely to take the Divine Child to the Star Palace."

"What kind of place is that?" Li Ang asked.

Eden thought for a few seconds and said: "Not long ago, I fought against evil people above the island in my true form; you should have seen it. Mortals view us as monsters, so if understood that way, the definition of the Star Palace is our lair."

"You sound even less credible saying it like that."

"I would not deceive the Divine Child or those around her. The term 'lair' was for your ease of understanding; it is no different from mortal architecture, only bathed in the light of the Star Soul. There, I will help the Divine Child master her true power."

"Perhaps she doesn't need it? We have already subdued the Star Soul."

Eden raised her lowered head slightly: "The Divine Child can resonate with the Earth Star Soul, and your help was very important; presumably, it was with your help that she received the information from the Chamber of Gestation to achieve this. But as time passes and seas dry up, the information in the Chamber of Gestation is likely quite incomplete."

The woman's amber eyes gazed at Zoe: "The Divine Child still has hidden dangers."
