Chapter 226: Uninvited Guest

~7 min read 1,312 words

Madara Uchiha and Senju Hashirama hid behind a tree, watching Qianshou Feijian carry Lian Ye into the residence.

"Madara, Feijian finally returned," Senju Hashirama sighed, "once Feijian leaves, we can go in."

Although he knew Feijian would never do anything to harm Lian Ye, he worried that the two might never return, making Madara grow impatient.

Now that they're back, he's finally relieved.

At least Madara won't be clamoring to leave the Village.

They only need to wait for Feijian to leave the house, then they can slip in to find Lian Ye.

Then Lian Ye will be able to prepare a sumptuous spread, and Madara, after tasting it, will fall in love with his cooking.

Feijian's perception is strong, so Hashirama and Madara dare not get too close.

After all, they have no intention of revealing their identities yet…

Especially Madara, who is highly resistant to exposing his identity, can only stick to his own ideas.

Otherwise Hashirama would have already taken Madara back to the Village openly.

At this distance, as long as they conceal their aura, they are confident they won't be detected, even though Feijian's perception is strong!

This is the confidence of the strong.

Madara Uchiha's tightly shut eyes had long since opened; he stared at the residence's main gate and began to speak slowly.

"When will he leave?"

"He should be leaving soon, right?" Senju Hashirama said uncertainly, "After sunrise, Feijian will go handle work."

He recalled that when Feijian served as acting Hokage, his schedule was like this.

He hopes his routine hasn't changed over the years.

Madara Uchiha gave a slight nod and closed his eyes again.

If Hashirama hadn't insisted on eating the meal Lian Ye prepared, he would have left Konoha long ago and never wasted an evening here.

He doesn't understand how delicious that kid's cooking must be to keep Hashirama thinking about it constantly?

Perhaps it's just an excuse to fool himself into returning to the Village.

Hashirama stared eagerly at the doorway, hoping Feijian would leave the house soon.

…

Qianshou Feijian Residence.

Feijian carefully placed Lian Ye on the bed and, pretending nothing was amiss, returned to the room.

Now the medicine's effect is wearing off; he dares not make much noise, fearing Lian Ye will wake up startled.

He is already very skilled at this; when Lian Ye gets up, he will leave the room, acting as if he just woke up.

He calculates the time; the kid is about to wake.

Sure enough, in Feijian's perception, Lian Ye moved in the room.

…

Lian Ye woke up feeling refreshed and invigorated.

He hasn't slept that deeply for a long time; on the Battlefield he never dares to sleep soundly, often jolted awake by the slightest rustle.

This nap could be said to be the most comfortable sleep in two years.

Indeed, staying at home feels comfortable; one can sleep through until sunrise.

Sleeping until natural waking, there's no disturbance at all.

Lian Ye got up, stretched lazily, and walked out of the room, just in time to see Feijian open the door.

"Uncle, good morning."

It's just dawn, and this old kid is up so early…

Feijian nodded, murmuring, "If you're up, make me some breakfast."

After eating, I still have to go to the office to handle paperwork.

Yesterday, in order to have dinner, the documents weren't finished.

"Got it, Uncle."

Lian Ye entered the kitchen, first rinsed a handful of brown rice into a clay pot, added water, and set it to a low simmer.

He was preparing congee to drink; breakfast should be light.

He turned, took out the eggs Feijian bought last night, fried them in a pan until both sides were golden, then tossed in a handful of shredded seaweed and mixed.

When the eggs were cooked and the congee was nearly done.

He plated the breakfast, glanced at the wall clock, and had finished in just over ten minutes.

Lian Ye carried the plates to the table; the clay pot's brown rice congee still steamed, a thin layer of rice oil floated on top, and the porcelain plate beside it held golden-fried eggs with slightly curled edges.

"Uncle, breakfast is ready."

He set the plates gently on the table and called out to Feijian, who was leaning against the doorway.

The old kid is in a hurry to handle paperwork; a simple dish will do for a quick bite.

As for his breakfast, they'll talk about it after the old kid leaves; if time were short, they'd make something else.

Who eats this kind of thing for breakfast at home?

Only a Hokage Part-time Worker on a 996 schedule is so busy that they have no time for breakfast, resorting to quick, convenient food.

Unlike him, who has plenty of time to make breakfast.

Anyone who wants to become Hokage is a fool, idling and making life unpleasant for themselves.

"Uncle, drink it while it's hot."

Lian Ye lifted the bowl, scooped out a little less than half a bowl of brown rice congee from the clay pot, the rice aroma mingling with steam.

Feijian gave a slight nod, and as he took the bowl, his fingertips brushed the warm porcelain rim.

Hmm, it's a bit hot.

He said nothing, first scooping a spoonful of porridge into his mouth; the soft, glutinous brown rice, mingled with rice aroma, burst on his tongue.

After swallowing, he then picked up his chopsticks and grabbed a fried egg; the crisp edges made a faint sound when bitten.

His gaze fell on Lian Ye, somewhat curious why the kid wasn't eating.

Lian Ye seemed to perceive his doubt and explained, "Uncle, I'm not hungry yet."

He had just gotten up and had no appetite, planning to wait until the old kid left, then prepare a lavish breakfast to reward himself.

During the two years on the Battlefield, he hadn't had a decent breakfast, mostly using Soldier's Ration Pill to fill his stomach.

Now that the war finally ended, of course he wanted to have a proper meal.

No one should starve their own stomach…

Senju Feijian heard that and kept eating bite by bite.

After a night of research, he was indeed hungry and quickly finished the pot of porridge.

He set down his chopsticks and wiped the corner of his mouth with a tissue.

"Remember to deliver lunch."

Senju Feijian stood up, straightened his collar, glanced at Lian Ye, and said in an even voice.

He certainly didn't want the kid to forget to deliver the meal again like yesterday.

"Got it, Uncle."

Yesterday's situation was special; under normal circumstances he wouldn't forget.

Senju Feijian relaxed, turned and left the house.

As long as the kid doesn't forget to deliver the meals, that's all he needs; he looks forward to those three meals each day.

……

In front of the Qianshou Feijian Residence.

"Madara, Feijian's gone!"

Senju Hashirama saw Feijian leave, excitedly elbowed the nearby Madara Uchiha, almost unable to contain himself from leaping out.

He stared at Feijian's receding silhouette, lowered his voice yet couldn't hide his excitement: "Madara, look, look! He's gone!"

Having squatted here all night, now he could finally go in openly to find Lian Ye.

Just thinking of the delicacies Lian Ye prepared made his mouth water.

"Madara, let's go in quickly!"

He was already eager to taste Lian Ye's cooking.

Madara Uchiha saw his close friend's demeanor and helplessly shook his head.

Hashirama, that guy really has a child's heart.

When Feijian's figure vanished from sight, Hashirama immediately pulled Madara and slipped into the residence.

Qianshou Feijian Residence.

Lian Ye was at that moment washing dishes in the kitchen, completely unaware that two uninvited guests had arrived at the house.
